Hadronic modes in the quark plasma with an internal symmetry

We show that requiring the quark partition function to be color singlet of SU(3) color gauge group leads to reordering the thermodynamic potential in terms of the colorless multi-quark modes ($q{\bar q}, qqq, {\bar q}{\bar q}{\bar q}, ...$) at any given temperature. In accord with the "preconfinement" property of QCD, under a suitable confining mechanism, these could evolve into color singlet hadrons/baryons at low temperatures. At fairly high temperatures these multi-quark color singlet structures propagate in the plasma like hadronic modes, just as in the more familiar low temperature phase. This suggests that there exists a strong correlation in the plasma at all temperatures which is in conformity with lattice results.

Surface Tension at Finite Tempearture in the MIT Bag Model

At $ T = 0 $ the surface tension $ σ^{1/3} $ in the MIT bag model for a single hadron is known to be negligible as compared to the bag pressure $ B^{1/4}$. We show that at finite temperature it has a substantial value of 50 - 70 MeV which also differ from hadron to hadron. We also find that the dynamics of the Quark-Gluon Plasma is such that the creation of hybrids $(s\bar{s}g)$ with massive quarks will predominate over the creation of $ (s\bar{s}) $ mesons.

The Deflation of SU(3)_c at High Temperatures

The ideas of "local" and "global" colour-singletness are not well understood within QCD. We use a group theoretical technique to project out the partition function for a system of quarks, antiquarks and gluons to a particular representation of the internal symmetry group $SU(3)_c$: colour-singlet, colour-octet and colour 27-plet at finite temperature. For high temperatures and large size it is shown that colour-singlet is degenerate with colour-octet, colour 27-plet states etc. For the composite system it is shown that $SU(3)_c$ appears to be a good symmetry only at low temperatures and at higher temperatures it gets submerged into a larger group $U(12)_q \otimes U(12)_{\bar{q}}$ (2-flavour). At high enough temperatures this conclusion is model independent. This means that a phase transition from the hadronic matter to the quark-gluon phase implies a transition from the group $SU(3)_c$ to $U(12)_q \otimes U(12)_{\bar q}$. Ideas of extensions beyond the standard model would have to be reviewed in the light of this result.

Hybrids as a Signature of Quark-Gluon Plasma

We show that the dynamics of the Quark-Gluon Plasma is such that during hadronization the creation of hybrids will predominate over the creation of mesons, giving a novel signature of the existence of QGP. At T = 0 the $(q\bar{q}g)$ hybrids are known to decay strongly into a pair of mesons. We find that at temperatures relevant to the QGP, this channel is forbidden. This would lead to significant modifications of the photonic signals of the QGP.

Diquark Structure in Heavy Quark Baryons in a Geometric Model

Using a geometric model for the study of the structure of hadrons, we study baryons having one, two and three heavy quarks. The study reveals diquark structure in baryons with one and two heavy quarks but not with three heavy identical quarks.

A Heavy Glueball in a Bag Model at Finite Temperature

We obtain a heavy glueball (much heavier than the ones studied by others which usually are in the range of 1-2 GeV) in a bag model calculation with exact discrete single particle states of gluons at finite temperature. This heavy glueball, within the cosmological context, is what Abbas has recently predicted (hep-ph/9504430).

A Heavy Glueball with Color-Singletness Restriction at Finite Temperature

We show that a heavy glueball (much heavier than that studied by others which is in the range of 1-2 GeV) is generated in a pure gluon plasma when color-singletness condition is imposed on the partition function at finite temperature. This confirms Abbas's recent prediction (hep-ph/9504430) of the existence of a heavy glueball within the framework of the early universe scenario.
