Thermo-responsive self-oscillating gel: mathematical model and theoretical analysis

Internally heated LCST thermo-responsive gels can show self-sustained swelling and collapse oscillations through feedback between temperature-induced collapse and collapse-suppressed heating. In this work, a minimal two-variable model is developed by coupling gel swelling dynamics with a lumped thermal balance. The analysis shows that stable large-amplitude oscillations are mainly controlled by global bifurcations of limit cycles, rather than by the local Hopf bifurcation. The Hopf bifurcation is subcritical in the studied parameter range, leading to a broad coexistence region where a stable fixed point and a stable limit cycle are both possible. The oscillatory behavior remains robust for different heating-gate functions, indicating that local linear instability is neither necessary nor sufficient for self-oscillation. Fast-slow analysis further shows that the oscillation period is mainly governed by the cooling rate, while the amplitude is determined by the geometry of the swelling equilibrium manifold. These results clarify the bifurcation mechanism of thermo-responsive gel oscillations and provide guidance for controlling their period, amplitude, and waveform.

Quasi-one-dimensional motion of an active MXene sheet driven by chemo-hydrodynamic waves

Signal-driven motion is widespread in natural and artificial systems, yet quantitative characterization of how transient chemo-hydrodynamic waves are converted into mechanical driving forces remains limited. Here, we investigate the self-propulsion of a MXene sheet asymmetrically coated with catalase in hydrogen peroxide solution. By combining dual-view particle image velocimetry experiments and numerical simulations reveal that active motion of the sheet is driven by chemo-hydrodynamic waves and exhibits direct-wave motion, the driving force of which is analyzed in terms of the shear stress on the sheet surface caused by chemo-hydrodynamic waves. This work suggests theoretical principles for designing and controlling hydrodynamically driven active motion.

MLD: An Intelligent Memory Leak Detection Scheme Based on Defect Modes in Smart Grids

With the expansion of the software scale and complexity of smart grid systems, the detection of smart grid software defects has become a research hotspot. Because of the large scale of the existing smart grid software code, the efficiency and accuracy of the existing smart grid defect detection algorithms are not high. We propose an intelligent memory leak detection scheme based on defect modes MLD in smart grid. Based on the analysis of existing memory leak defect modes, we summarize memory operation behaviors (allocation, release and transfer) and present a state machine model. We employ a fuzzy matching algorithm based on regular expression to determine the memory operation behaviors and then analyze the change in the state machine to assess the vulnerability in the source code. To improve the efficiency of detection and solve the problem of repeated detection at the function call point, we propose a function summary method for memory operation behaviors. The experimental results demonstrate that the method we proposed has high detection speed and accuracy. The algorithm we proposed can identify the defects of the smart grid operation software and ensure the safe operation of the grid.

Heavy quark symmetry in strong decays of P-wave heavy-light mesons

Heavy quark symmetry and its breaking in strong decays of P-wave heavy-light mesons are examined within the EHQ's method. The consistence of theory with experiments indicates that the breaking of heavy quark symmetry in the two-body strong decays of these mesons is not large. The relation between the EHQ's method and the $^3P_0$ model is investigated, and the phenomenological transition strengths $\mathcal {F}^{j_q,j'_q}_{j_h,l}(0)$ of the P-wave heavy-light mesons within the EHQ method are analytically derived within the $^3P_0$ model.

$D^\star_{s1}(2700)^\pm$ and $D^\star_{sJ}(2860)^\pm$ revisited within the $^3P_0$ model

The strong decays of $D^\star_{s1}(2700)^\pm$ and $D^\star_{sJ}(2860)^\pm$ are investigated within the $^3P_0$ model. It is found that the interpretation of these two states depends on the mixing schemes and the ways of choices of the harmonic oscillator parameter $β$. If $D^\star_{s1}(2700)^\pm$ and $D^\star_{sJ}(2860)^\pm$ are two pure states, $D^\star_{s1}(2700)^\pm$ seems impossibly the $2^3S_1$ $D_s$, but may be the $1^3D_1$ $D_s$. $D^\star_{sJ}(2860)^\pm$ may be the $1^3D_3$. If there is mixing between the $2^3S_1$ and $1^3D_1$, $D^\star_{s1}(2700)^\pm$ may be the mixed $1^-$ state with a small mixing angle in the case of a special $β$ for each meson, and $D^\star_{sJ}(2860)^\pm$ is the orthogonal partner of $D^\star_{s1}(2700)^\pm$; $D^\star_{s1}(2700)^\pm$ may also be the mixed $1^-$ state with a large mixing angle based on a universal $β$ for all mesons, and $D^\star_{sJ}(2860)^\pm$ seems impossibly the orthogonal partner of $D^\star_{s1}(2700)^\pm$. Other uncertainties related to the choices of constituent quark masses and phase spaces are also explored.

Possible 2S and 1D charmed and charmed-strange mesons

Possible $2S$ and $1D$ excited $D$ and $D_s$ states are studied, the charmed states $D(2550)^0$, $D^\ast(2600)$, $D(2750)^0$ and $D^\ast(2760)$ newly observed by the BaBar Collaboration are analyzed. The masses of these states are explored within the Regge trajectory phenomenology, and the strong decay widths are computed through the method proposed by Eichten {\it et al.}\cite{Eichten}. Both the mass and the decay width indicate that $D(2550)^0$ is a good candidate of $2^1S_0$. $D^\ast(2600)$ and $D_{s1}^\ast(2700)^\pm$ are very possible the admixtures of $2^3S_1$ and $1^3D_1$ with $J^P=1^-$ and a mixing angle $ϕ\approx 19^0$. $D^\ast(2760)$ and $D_{sJ}^\ast(2860)^\pm$ are possible the $1^3D_3$ $D$ and $D_s$, respectively. $D(2750)^0$ and $D^\ast(2760)$ seem two different states, and $D(2750)^0$ is very possible the $1D(2^-, \frac{5}{2})$ though the possibility of $1D(2^-, \frac{3}{2})$ has not been excluded. There may exist an unobserved meson $D_{sJ}(2850)^\pm$ corresponding to $D^\ast_{sJ}(2860)^\pm$.
