Hyperbolic components of cosine family with a fixed critical point

We studied the parameter plane of the cosine functions with a fixed critical point. The hyperbolic components can be classified into three types: A, C and D. All the hyperbolic components are bounded and simply connected, except for the unique type-A component, which contains 0 as an isolated boundary point. Using the method of para-puzzle, we constructed a phase-parameter transfer mapping and proved that the boundaries of hyperbolic components are Jordan curves. By a similar idea, the hyperbolic components of type C are quasidisks.

Stochastic Mean-field Theory for Conditional Spin Squeezing by Homodyne Probing of Atom-Cavity Photon Dressed States

Projective measurements of collective observables can be employed to herald the preparation of entangled states of quantum systems, and the resulting conditional dynamics is usually handled by stochastic master equation (SME) for small systems, and by an approximate Gaussian-state formalism for large systems. In this work, we present an alternative technique by developing a stochastic variant of cumulant mean-field theory, benchmark it against an exact stochastic collective density matrix approach by the simulations of hundreds of identical two-level atoms. More importantly, we demonstrate its full power by studying the conditional spin squeezing of thousands of three-level atoms coupled strongly with an optical cavity subject to individual decay and dephasing, and by simulating the experimental protocol to reveal formation and detection of the spin squeezed state. The proposed technique might be further extended to study more exotic quantum-measurement effects of large quantum systems, such as deterministic spin squeezing with quantum feedback, spin squeezing of optical clock transitions, and retrodictive spin squeezing by posterior measurements, and so on.

Bounded Fatou components of cosine functions

We constructed Yoccoz puzzle for cosine functions $f(z)=ae^z+be^{-z}$ with bounded post-critical set, and proved that a Fatou component is a Jordan domains if it is bounded and is not eventually a Siegal disk. We proved that $f$ is renormalizable if a critical value escapes to $\infty$. Finally, we obtained the local connectivity of $J(f)$.

Pressure induced band structure evolution of halide perovskites: a first-principles atomic and electronic structure study

Density functional theory (DFT) based calculations have been conducted to draw a broad picture of pressure induced band structure evolution in various phases of organic and inorganic halide perovskite materials. Under a wide range of pressure applied, distinct band structure behaviors including magnitude change of band gap, direct-indirect/indirect-direct band gap transitions and CBM/VBM shifts, have been observed between organic and inorganic perovskites among different phases. Through atomic and electronic structure calculations, band gap narrowing/widening has been rationalized through crystal orbitals coupling transformations; direct-indirect mutual transitions were explained based on structural symmetry evolution; different VBM/CBM shifts behaviors between organic and inorganic perovskites were analyzed focusing on orientation and polarity of molecules/atoms outside the octahedrals. These results provide a comprehensive guidance for further experimental investigations on pressure engineering of perovskite materials.
