Complex field-induced magnetic phases and anisotropic magnetotransport in off-stoichiometric CeCuBi2

We report a detailed study on the structural, angle-dependent magnetic and magnetotransport properties of highly anisotropic off-stoichiometric CeCuBi2 single crystals. Our results reveal CeCuBi2 as an anisotropic Kondo antiferromagnet exhibiting complex field-induced magnetic behavior and unusual magnetotransport properties. Magnetic susceptibility and specific heat measurements reveal antiferromagnetic (AFM) ordering below TN = 14 K with strong anisotropy and weak heavy-fermion behavior. Electrical transport measurements show highly anisotropic resistivity and a broad hump around 47 K, indicative of Kondo-driven heavy-fermion behavior. Magnetization measurements reveal multiple field-induced metamagnetic phases, while AC susceptibility measurements indicate slow spin dynamics and spin-glass-like behavior in intermediate field-induced magnetic states. Furthermore, we observe large and strongly anisotropic magneto transport responses, including room-temperature magnetoresistance of approximately 22% at 300 K and 9 T and butterfly-like anisotropic magnetoresistance with AMR values reaching approximately 10.9%. These results highlight a strong interplay among Kondo correlations, magnetic anisotropy, and field-tunable spin configurations, making CeCuBi2 a possible platform for exploring correlated and anisotropic quantum phenomena.

Intrinsic magnetotransport and orientation dependent topological Hall effect in EuAuBi

We report the growth of high-quality single crystals of the magnetic topological semimetal EuAuBi using a Pb flux method, which effectively suppresses the formation of secondary Au2Bi impurity phases that were prevalent in the previously reported Bi flux grown crystals. This growth optimization enables reliable investigation of the intrinsic physical properties of EuAuBi. Importantly, Pb flux growth stablilizes c axis oriented single crystals, enabling Hall measurements in a previously unexplored geometry. In this configuration (I parallel to c, B perpendicular to c), a finite residual Hall contribution, known as topological Hall signal emerges below the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature and within a narrow magnetic field range. This Hall contribution coincides with the metamagnetic transitions, anomalies in magnetoresistance, and an additional feature in field-dependent specific heat, indicating strong coupling between the electronic transport and field induced magnetic reconstructions. Consequently, these findings underscore the significance of crystal orientation in uncovering topological transport signatures in magnetic semimetals such as EuAuBi.

Structural and magnetic phases of topological kagome metal Fe$_3$Sn$_2$ under pressure

We investigate the pressure-induced evolution of crystal structure and magnetism in the kagome ferromagnet Fe$_3$Sn$_2$ by combining X-ray diffraction, X-ray Emission Spectroscopy, X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism, and spin-polarized density functional theory calculations. X-ray diffraction reveals a structural phase transition above $\sim$20~GPa, which coincides with a pronounced reduction of the local Fe magnetic moment evidenced by X-ray emission spectroscopy, indicating a high-spin to low-spin transition. While XES probes the amplitude of the local moment, XMCD provides direct information on the orientation of the ordered magnetic moments and uncovers a rich pressure--temperature magnetic phase diagram. At room temperature, a collinear ferromagnetic phase with moments aligned along the $c$ axis persists up to the structural transition. At low temperature, a tilted magnetic configuration remains stable to significantly higher pressures, while at intermediate temperatures pressure stabilizes the low-temperature magnetic phase at the expense of the high-temperature one. Spin-polarized first-principles calculations show that, although isotropic ferromagnetic exchange interactions remain robust under compression, pressure enhances spin--orbit--driven magnetic anisotropy and Dzyaloshinskii--Moriya interactions, favoring non-collinear magnetic configurations. Our results demonstrate that pressure reshapes the magnetic energy landscape of Fe$_3$Sn$_2$ by coupling lattice, spin state, and relativistic magnetic interactions, establishing hydrostatic pressure as an effective control parameter to engineer magnetic anisotropy and potentially topological phases in kagome materials.

Berry curvature induced giant anomalous and spin texture driven Hall responses in the layered kagome antiferromagnet GdTi3Bi4

In recent years, layered kagome magnets have emerged as promising platforms for Berry-curvature engineering and unconventional transport phenomena. Here, we present the single-crystal growth, magnetization, and electrical transport characterizations of the van der Waals-like layered antiferromagnet GdTi3Bi4. The system exhibits pronounced field-induced first-order phase transitions. Comprehensive frequency, temperature, and field-dependent ac susceptibility measurements, and Hall analysis, reveals the formation of a spin-cluster-like glassy magnetic phase attributed to noncollinear spin textures. Additionally, the system demonstrates a colossal anomalous Hall conductivity {\sigma}_xy^{A}~ 8.6(7)10^{3} Ohm-1 cm-1 at 2 K). Detailed scaling analyses reveal the coexistence of skew scattering and intrinsic Berry-curvature contributions to the anomalous Hall effect. First-principles calculations highlight flat-band near the Fermi level, with f-electrons of the Gd ion contributing large intrinsic Hall response. Thus, GdTi3Bi4 emerges as a rare layered kagome magnet, exhibiting Berry curvature-induced giant anomalous and spin texture-driven Hall responses, providing a versatile platform for exploring spin-texture physics and advancing low-dimensional spintronic functionalities.

Complex spin dynamics induced metamagnetic phase transitions in Dirac semimetal EuAuBi

We report a comprehensive investigation of the physical properties of the Dirac semimetal compound EuAuBi single crystals, using neutron diffraction, magnetization, electrical transport, and specific heat measurements. EuAuBi crystallizes in a hexagonal structure with space group P63mc (No. 186). First-principles calculations using density functional theory characterize it as a Dirac semimetal, with a notable band-crossing in proximity to the Fermi level (EF ) along the {\Gamma}-A direction. The crystal exhibits three distinct magnetic phases at 4 K (TN1), 3.5 K (TN2), and 2.8 K (TN3)as observed from magnetic and specific heat measurements. However, zero-field neutron diffraction resolves only two magnetic phases: a commensurate antiferromagnetic phase and a canted antiferromagnetic phase. Field-dependent ac and dc magnetization measurements uncover field-induced non-trivial spin textures in the magnetic field range 1.5 to 3 T, manifested as a tilted plateau in the magnetization curves. The interplay between conduction carriers and these spin textures is further evidenced by unique features in the magnetic field-dependent longitudinal resistivity in the system. Finally, we present a comprehensive magnetic phase diagram of EuAuBi, highlighting diverse spin alignments present in the material. EuAuBi thus emerges as a rare material system in which both momentum-space and real-space Berry curvature effects may coexist, providing a unique opportunity to investigate their interplay.
