Joint Secrecy and Covert Communication (JSACC): An Enhanced Physical Layer Security Approach

In this paper, we propose an enhanced physical layer security approach, named joint secrecy and covert communication (JSACC), which aims to improve the performance of physical layer security (PLS). The JSACC system can dynamically switch between secrecy mode and covert mode according to the channel difference between legitimate and illegitimate receivers. We further leverage reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) to extend the communication range. For each scenario, we derive the closed-form expressions for the outage probability (OP) and ergodic rate (ER). To further understand system performance, we derive asymptotic approximations in the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime to obtain the diversity order and high-SNR slope. We demonstrate that the diversity order of the JSACC depends on Nakagami fading parameters and the RIS reflecting element number. Simulation results are consistent with our theoretical analysis and reveal the superiority of the JSACC system over the conventional secrecy communication (SC) system.

Minimum Distance of New Generalizations of the Punctured Binary Reed-Muller Codes

Motivated by applications in combinatorial design theory and constructing LCD codes, C. Ding et al \cite{DLX} introduced cyclic codes $\mho(q,m,h)$ and $\bar\mho(q,m,h)$ over $\mathbb{F}_q$ as new generalization and version of the punctured binary Reed-Muller codes. In this paper, we show several new results on minimum distance of $\mho(q,m,h)$ and $\bar\mho(q,m,h)$ which are generalization or improvement of previous results given in \cite{DLX}.

Investigation of Dosimetric Parameters of $^{192}$Ir MicroSelectron v2 HDR Brachytherapy Source Using EGSnrc Monte Carlo Code

The $^{192}$Ir sources are widely used for high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy treatments. The aim of this study is to simulate $^{192}$Ir MicroSelectron v2 HDR brachytherapy source and calculate the air kerma strength, dose rate constant, radial dose function and anisotropy function established in the updated AAPM Task Group 43 protocol. The EGSnrc Monte Carlo (MC) code package is used to calculate these dosimetric parameters, including dose contribution from secondary electron source and also contribution of bremsstrahlung photons to air kerma strength. The Air kerma strength, dose rate constant and radial dose function while anisotropy functions for the distance greater than 0.5 cm away from the source center are in good agreement with previous published studies. Obtained value from MC simulation for air kerma strength is $9.762\times 10^{-8} \textrm{UBq}^{-1}$and dose rate constant is $1.108\pm 0.13\%\textrm{cGyh}^{-1} \textrm{U}^{-1}$.

Simulation of Cone Beam CT System Based on Monte Carlo Method

Adaptive Radiation Therapy (ART) was developed based on Image-guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) and it is the trend of photon radiation therapy. To get a better use of Cone Beam CT (CBCT) images for ART, the CBCT system model was established based on Monte Carlo program and validated against the measurement. The BEAMnrc program was adopted to the KV x-ray tube. Both IOURCE-13 and ISOURCE-24 were chosen to simulate the path of beam particles. The measured Percentage Depth Dose (PDD) and lateral dose profiles under 1cm water were compared with the dose calculated by DOSXYZnrc program. The calculated PDD was better than 1% within the depth of 10cm. More than 85% points of calculated lateral dose profiles was within 2%. The correct CBCT system model helps to improve CBCT image quality for dose verification in ART and assess the CBCT image concomitant dose risk.
