Mechanizing Transactional Anomalous Patterns for Weak Isolation Levels

Recently proposed transactional anomalous patterns (TAPs) provide a semantic characterization of weak isolation levels and serve as the foundation for TAP-based isolation checking. Yet, these characterizations currently exist only as pen-and-paper proofs. We present the first machine-checked formalization of TAPs and their associated weak isolation levels in Rocq. We further establish machine-checked proofs of the corresponding TAP-based characterization theorems. The mechanization process revealed two subtle issues in the original presentation: an underspecified transaction history model and an incomplete TAP characterization of the Read Atomicity isolation level that failed to capture violations of session guarantees. We address these issues by refining the definition of transaction histories and the corresponding TAP definitions, and re-establish all characterization theorems in Rocq. These refinements have further been integrated into the weak isolation checker Plume.

Reflex: Faster Secure Collaborative Analytics via Controlled Intermediate Result Size Disclosure

Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC) enables collaborative analytics without exposing private data. However, OLAP queries under MPC remain prohibitively slow due to oblivious execution and padding of intermediate results with filler tuples. We present Reflex, the first framework that enables configurable trimming of intermediate results across different query operators -- joins, selections, and aggregations -- within full query plans. At its core is the Resizer operator, which can be inserted between any oblivious operators to selectively remove filler tuples under MPC using user-defined probabilistic strategies. To make privacy trade-offs interpretable, we introduce a new metric that quantifies the number of observations an attacker would need to infer the true intermediate result sizes. Reflex thus makes the performance-privacy space of secure analytics navigable, allowing users to balance efficiency and protection. Experiments show substantial runtime reductions while maintaining quantifiable privacy guarantees.

Cluster Dynamics Modeling of Niobium and Titanium Carbide Precipitates

Kinetics of niobium and titanium carbide precipitates in iron has been simulated with cluster dynamics. The simulations, carried out in austenite and ferrite for niobium carbides, respectively in austenite for titanium carbide, were analyzed for dependency on temperature, solute concentration, and initial cluster distribution. The results are presented for different temperatures and solute concentrations and compared to available experimental data. They show little impact of initial cluster distribution beyond a certain relaxation time and that highly dilute alloys with only monomers present a significantly different behavior than less dilute alloys or alloys with different initial cluster distribution.
