Thinking with Constructions: A Benchmark and Policy Optimization for Visual-Text Interleaved Geometric Reasoning

Geometric reasoning inherently requires "thinking with constructions" -- the dynamic manipulation of visual aids to bridge the gap between problem conditions and solutions. However, existing Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) are largely confined to passive inference with static diagrams, lacking the strategic knowledge of when and how to construct effective visual aids. To address this, we present a framework for Visual-Text Interleaved Chain-of-Thought. We first introduce GeoAux-Bench, the first benchmark comprising 4,334 geometry problems that aligns textual construction steps with ground-truth visual updates. Our pilot study reveals two critical insights: (1) interleaved visual-textual aids outperform single-modality counterparts, which cannot losslessly capture geometric synergy; and (2) valid constructions act as entropy reducers, strongly correlating with reduced reasoning perplexity. Building on these findings, we propose Action Applicability Policy Optimization (A2PO), a reinforcement learning paradigm for mastering strategic construction. A2PO employs Adaptive Reward Shaping to regulate the timing and quality of visual aids via counterfactual sampling to distinguish necessary from redundant constructions. Experiments demonstrate our approach enables MLLMs to leverage selective auxiliary constructions, yielding a 3.51% gain over strong baselines. Code and data are available on GitHub.

Benchmarking Endoscopic Surgical Image Restoration and Beyond

In endoscopic surgery, a clear and high-quality visual field is critical for surgeons to make accurate intraoperative decisions. However, persistent visual degradation, including smoke generated by energy devices, lens fogging from thermal gradients, and lens contamination due to blood or tissue fluid splashes during surgical procedures, severely impairs visual clarity. These degenerations can seriously hinder surgical workflow and pose risks to patient safety. To systematically investigate and address various forms of surgical scene degradation, we introduce a real- world open-source surgical image restoration dataset covering endoscopic environments, called SurgClean, which involves multi-type image restoration tasks from two medical sites, i.e., desmoking, defogging, and desplashing. SurgClean comprises 3,113 images with diverse degradation types and corresponding paired reference labels. Based on SurgClean, we establish a standardized evaluation benchmark and provide performance for 22 representative generic task-specific image restoration approaches, including 12 generic and 10 task-specific image restoration approaches. Experimental results reveal substantial performance gaps relative to clinical requirements, highlighting a critical opportunity for algorithm advancements in intelligent surgical restoration. Furthermore, we explore the degradation discrepancies between surgical and natural scenes from structural perception and semantic under- standing perspectives, providing fundamental insights for domain-specific image restoration research. Our work aims to empower restoration algorithms and improve the efficiency of clinical procedures.

Bilevel Layer-Positioning LoRA for Real Image Dehazing

Learning-based real image dehazing methods have achieved notable progress, yet they still face adaptation challenges in diverse real haze scenes. These challenges mainly stem from the lack of effective unsupervised mechanisms for unlabeled data and the heavy cost of full model fine-tuning. To address these challenges, we propose the haze-to-clear text-directed loss that leverages CLIP's cross-modal capabilities to reformulate real image dehazing as a semantic alignment problem in latent space, thereby providing explicit unsupervised cross-modal guidance in the absence of reference images. Furthermore, we introduce the Bilevel Layer-positioning LoRA (BiLaLoRA) strategy, which learns both the LoRA parameters and automatically search the injection layers, enabling targeted adaptation of critical network layers. Extensive experiments demonstrate our superiority against state-of-the-art methods on multiple real-world dehazing benchmarks. The code is publicly available at https://github.com/YanZhang-zy/BiLaLoRA.

Bridging Human Evaluation to Infrared and Visible Image Fusion

Infrared and visible image fusion (IVIF) integrates complementary modalities to enhance scene perception. Current methods predominantly focus on optimizing handcrafted losses and objective metrics, often resulting in fusion outcomes that do not align with human visual preferences. This challenge is further exacerbated by the ill-posed nature of IVIF, which severely limits its effectiveness in human perceptual environments such as security surveillance and driver assistance systems. To address these limitations, we propose a feedback reinforcement framework that bridges human evaluation to infrared and visible image fusion. To address the lack of human-centric evaluation metrics and data, we introduce the first large-scale human feedback dataset for IVIF, containing multidimensional subjective scores and artifact annotations, and enriched by a fine-tuned large language model with expert review. Based on this dataset, we design a domain-specific reward function and train a reward model to quantify perceptual quality. Guided by this reward, we fine-tune the fusion network through Group Relative Policy Optimization, achieving state-of-the-art performance that better aligns fused images with human aesthetics. Code is available at https://github.com/ALKA-Wind/EVAFusion.

Harnessing Chain-of-Thought Reasoning in Multimodal Large Language Models for Face Anti-Spoofing

Face Anti-Spoofing (FAS) typically depends on a single visual modality when defending against presentation attacks such as print attacks, screen replays, and 3D masks, resulting in limited generalization across devices, environments, and attack types. Meanwhile, Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have recently achieved breakthroughs in image-text understanding and semantic reasoning, suggesting that integrating visual and linguistic co-inference into FAS can substantially improve both robustness and interpretability. However, the lack of a high-quality vision-language multimodal dataset has been a critical bottleneck. To address this, we introduce FaceCoT (Face Chain-of-Thought), the first large-scale Visual Question Answering (VQA) dataset tailored for FAS. FaceCoT covers 14 spoofing attack types and enriches model learning with high-quality CoT VQA annotations. Meanwhile, we develop a caption model refined via reinforcement learning to expand the dataset and enhance annotation quality. Furthermore, we introduce a CoT-Enhanced Progressive Learning (CEPL) strategy to better leverage the CoT data and boost model performance on FAS tasks. Extensive experiments demonstrate that models trained with FaceCoT and CEPL outperform state-of-the-art methods on multiple benchmark datasets.

Leveraging large multimodal models for audio-video deepfake detection: a pilot study

Audio-visual deepfake detection (AVD) is increasingly important as modern generators can fabricate convincing speech and video. Most current multimodal detectors are small, task-specific models: they work well on curated tests but scale poorly and generalize weakly across domains. We introduce AV-LMMDetect, a supervised fine-tuned (SFT) large multimodal model that casts AVD as a prompted yes/no classification - "Is this video real or fake?". Built on Qwen 2.5 Omni, it jointly analyzes audio and visual streams for deepfake detection and is trained in two stages: lightweight LoRA alignment followed by audio-visual encoder full fine-tuning. On FakeAVCeleb and Mavos-DD, AV-LMMDetect matches or surpasses prior methods and sets a new state of the art on Mavos-DD datasets.

Thought Purity: A Defense Framework For Chain-of-Thought Attack

Large Reasoning Models (LRMs) leverage Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning to solve complex tasks, but this explicit reasoning process introduces a critical vulnerability: adversarial manipulation of the thought chain itself, known as Chain-of-Thought Attacks (CoTA). Such attacks subtly corrupt the reasoning path to produce erroneous outputs, challenging conventional defenses that often sacrifice model utility for safety. To address this, we propose Thought Purity(TP), a defense framework that shifts from passive refusal to active reasoning recovery. TP integrates a safety-aware data pipeline with reinforcement learning, employing a dual-reward mechanism to teach models to dynamically identify and isolate malicious logic while preserving correct reasoning. Experiments on multiple model families demonstrate that TP significantly reduces the attack success rate of CoTA while maintaining or enhancing the model's performance on benign tasks.

Steering LLMs via Scalable Interactive Oversight

As Large Language Models increasingly automate complex, long-horizon tasks such as \emph{vibe coding}, a supervision gap has emerged. While models excel at execution, users often struggle to guide them effectively due to insufficient domain expertise, the difficulty of articulating precise intent, and the inability to reliably validate complex outputs. It presents a critical challenge in scalable oversight: enabling humans to responsibly steer AI systems on tasks that surpass their own ability to specify or verify. To tackle this, we propose Scalable Interactive Oversight, a framework that decomposes complex intent into a recursive tree of manageable decisions to amplify human supervision. Rather than relying on open-ended prompting, our system elicits low-burden feedback at each node and recursively aggregates these signals into precise global guidance. Validated in web development task, our framework enables non-experts to produce expert-level Product Requirement Documents, achieving a 54\% improvement in alignment. Crucially, we demonstrate that this framework can be optimized via Reinforcement Learning using only online user feedback, offering a practical pathway for maintaining human control as AI scales.

Beyond Face Swapping: A Diffusion-Based Digital Human Benchmark for Multimodal Deepfake Detection

In recent years, the explosive advancement of deepfake technology has posed a critical and escalating threat to public security: diffusion-based digital human generation. Unlike traditional face manipulation methods, such models can generate highly realistic videos with consistency via multimodal control signals. Their flexibility and covertness pose severe challenges to existing detection strategies. To bridge this gap, we introduce DigiFakeAV, the new large-scale multimodal digital human forgery dataset based on diffusion models. Leveraging five of the latest digital human generation methods and a voice cloning method, we systematically construct a dataset comprising 60,000 videos (8.4 million frames), covering multiple nationalities, skin tones, genders, and real-world scenarios, significantly enhancing data diversity and realism. User studies demonstrate that the misrecognition rate by participants for DigiFakeAV reaches as high as 68%. Moreover, the substantial performance degradation of existing detection models on our dataset further highlights its challenges. To address this problem, we propose DigiShield, an effective detection baseline based on spatiotemporal and cross-modal fusion. By jointly modeling the 3D spatiotemporal features of videos and the semantic-acoustic features of audio, DigiShield achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance on the DigiFakeAV and shows strong generalization on other datasets.

Your One-Stop Solution for AI-Generated Video Detection

Recent advances in generative modeling can create remarkably realistic synthetic videos, making it increasingly difficult for humans to distinguish them from real ones and necessitating reliable detection methods. However, two key limitations hinder the development of this field. \textbf{From the dataset perspective}, existing datasets are often limited in scale and constructed using outdated or narrowly scoped generative models, making it difficult to capture the diversity and rapid evolution of modern generative techniques. Moreover, the dataset construction process frequently prioritizes quantity over quality, neglecting essential aspects such as semantic diversity, scenario coverage, and technological representativeness. \textbf{From the benchmark perspective}, current benchmarks largely remain at the stage of dataset creation, leaving many fundamental issues and in-depth analysis yet to be systematically explored. Addressing this gap, we propose AIGVDBench, a benchmark designed to be comprehensive and representative, covering \textbf{31} state-of-the-art generation models and over \textbf{440,000} videos. By executing more than \textbf{1,500} evaluations on \textbf{33} existing detectors belonging to four distinct categories. This work presents \textbf{8 in-depth analyses} from multiple perspectives and identifies \textbf{4 novel findings} that offer valuable insights for future research. We hope this work provides a solid foundation for advancing the field of AI-generated video detection. Our benchmark is open-sourced at https://github.com/LongMa-2025/AIGVDBench.

Detect All-Type Deepfake Audio: Wavelet Prompt Tuning for Enhanced Auditory Perception

The rapid advancement of audio generation technologies has escalated the risks of malicious deepfake audio across speech, sound, singing voice, and music, threatening multimedia security and trust. While existing countermeasures (CMs) perform well in single-type audio deepfake detection (ADD), their performance declines in cross-type scenarios. This paper is dedicated to studying the all-type ADD task. We are the first to comprehensively establish an all-type ADD benchmark to evaluate current CMs, incorporating cross-type deepfake detection across speech, sound, singing voice, and music. Then, we introduce the prompt tuning self-supervised learning (PT-SSL) training paradigm, which optimizes SSL front-end by learning specialized prompt tokens for ADD, requiring 458x fewer trainable parameters than fine-tuning (FT). Considering the auditory perception of different audio types, we propose the wavelet prompt tuning (WPT)-SSL method to capture type-invariant auditory deepfake information from the frequency domain without requiring additional training parameters, thereby enhancing performance over FT in the all-type ADD task. To achieve an universally CM, we utilize all types of deepfake audio for co-training. Experimental results demonstrate that WPT-XLSR-AASIST achieved the best performance, with an average EER of 3.58% across all evaluation sets.

Prediction of a measurable sign change in the Casimir force using a magnetic fluid

We demonstrate quantum levitation controlled by Casimir forces acting between a polystyrene surface and a Teflon-coated metallic substrate immersed in a mixture of Toluene and magnetite particles. This system experiences repulsion-attraction transitions in the Casimir interaction for distances where the effect is measurable. This Casimir trapping can be controlled by clever choices of metallic and ferrofluid materials, which are directly linked to the emergence of the trapping effect. Thermal and quantum contributions are investigated in detail, showing how the optical and magnetic properties of the ferrofluid and other materials affect the magnitude of the trapping and its distance range of observability.

Modulation of Ionic Current Rectification in Short Unipolar Nanopores

With controlled ionic current rectification (ICR) achieved through a strategically designed non-uniform surface charge distribution, short unipolar nanopores exhibit promising applications in nanofluidic sensors, ionic circuits, and ion amplifiers. By systematically investigating how the charged length on inner pore walls modulates ion transport, we found that both the maximum ICR degree and the corresponding charged-length proportion were influenced by nanopore parameters and simulation conditions. For 100 nm-long unipolar nanopores, the highest ICR degree is obtained at a charged-length proportion of ~0.3, due to the corresponding most significant ion enrichment and depletion inside the nanopore under opposite biases. This charged-length proportion of ~0.3 consistently appears as a characteristic value across most considered cases. For short unipolar nanopores, the presence of exterior surface charges significantly enhances the ICR degree by facilitating ion transport through nanopores. The effective widths of charged regions beyond nanopore borders on outer surfaces exhibit direct proportionality to the pore diameter, surface charge density, and applied voltage, and inverse proportionality to the pore length and salt concentration. Our research may provide useful guidance for the design of unipolar nanopores and porous membranes incorporating such charge configurations.

Characteristics of mono-, di-, and trivalent cations in electric double layers: a molecular dynamic investigation

Ionic behaviors, including ion distributions and hydration characteristics at solid-liquid interfaces, are important research interests in many important applications, such as electric double-layer capacitors and water lubrication. Here, we systematically investigated the concentration distributions, hydration numbers, and screening properties of Li+, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, and La3+ ions inside electric double layers (EDLs) at various charge densities. For the surface charge density weaker than -0.16 C m-2, monovalent cations mainly accumulate in the outer Helmholtz plane (OHP). As the charge density magnitude increases, monovalent cations start to dehydrate and migrate to the inner Helmholtz plane (IHP), following the order of K+, Na+, and Li+. This size-dependent behavior arises from the lower hydration energy of larger ions. While for the di- and trivalent ions, no obvious IHP appears. Based on ion distributions, the screening effect of counterions on surface charges is evaluated by analyzing the net charge distributions. As the charge density changes from 0 to -0.32 C m-2, due to the stronger accumulation of cations in EDLs, the location of the neutral plane changes from ~1.2 to ~0.4 nm. When the charge density reaches a threshold, excessive accumulation of cations can induce charge inversion. The threshold value and the maximum reversed charge are found to correlate with the ion size, cation valence, and concentration.

VITA-1.5: Towards GPT-4o Level Real-Time Vision and Speech Interaction

Recent Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) have typically focused on integrating visual and textual modalities, with less emphasis placed on the role of speech in enhancing interaction. However, speech plays a crucial role in multimodal dialogue systems, and implementing high-performance in both vision and speech tasks remains a significant challenge due to the fundamental modality differences. In this paper, we propose a carefully designed multi-stage training methodology that progressively trains LLM to understand both visual and speech information, ultimately enabling fluent vision and speech interaction. Our approach not only preserves strong vision-language capacity, but also enables efficient speech-to-speech dialogue capabilities without separate ASR and TTS modules, significantly accelerating multimodal end-to-end response speed. By comparing our method against state-of-the-art counterparts across benchmarks for image, video, and speech tasks, we demonstrate that our model is equipped with both strong visual and speech capabilities, making near real-time vision and speech interaction. Code has been released at https://github.com/VITA-MLLM/VITA.

Social World Model-Augmented Mechanism Design Policy Learning

Designing adaptive mechanisms to align individual and collective interests remains a central challenge in artificial social intelligence. Existing methods often struggle with modeling heterogeneous agents possessing persistent latent traits (e.g., skills, preferences) and dealing with complex multi-agent system dynamics. These challenges are compounded by the critical need for high sample efficiency due to costly real-world interactions. World Models, by learning to predict environmental dynamics, offer a promising pathway to enhance mechanism design in heterogeneous and complex systems. In this paper, we introduce a novel method named SWM-AP (Social World Model-Augmented Mechanism Design Policy Learning), which learns a social world model hierarchically modeling agents' behavior to enhance mechanism design. Specifically, the social world model infers agents' traits from their interaction trajectories and learns a trait-based model to predict agents' responses to the deployed mechanisms. The mechanism design policy collects extensive training trajectories by interacting with the social world model, while concurrently inferring agents' traits online during real-world interactions to further boost policy learning efficiency. Experiments in diverse settings (tax policy design, team coordination, and facility location) demonstrate that SWM-AP outperforms established model-based and model-free RL baselines in cumulative rewards and sample efficiency.

Robustness Analysis and Controller Design of Arm-locking System in Space-based Gravitational Wave Detectors

Arm-locking frequency stabilization is a key technique for suppressing laser frequency noise in space-based gravitational-wave detectors. The robustness of the arm-locking control loop is crucial for maintaining laser frequency stability, which directly impacts the accuracy of gravitational-wave measurements. In this work, a parametric stability analysis framework is developed by combining the D-subdivision theory with the Semi-Discretization method to map the stability regions of arm-locking systems in the parameter space and identify their critical stability boundaries. Based on the frequency-domain characteristics, a robust arm-locking controller is designed to enhance loop stability under parameter perturbations. Theoretical analysis and time-domain simulations confirm that the proposed controller maintains closed-loop stability and realize suppression of laser frequency noise against parameter perturbation.

Ionic current rectification under concentration gradients and its application in evaluating surface charge properties of micropores

Ionic current rectification (ICR) induced by electroosmotic flow (EOF) under concentration gradients can find many applications in micro/nanofluidic sensing and ionic circuits. Here, we focused on the cases with micropores of moderate length-diameter ratios, through experimental research and systematical simulations, the EOF-induced ICR was found to exhibit voltage-dependent ratios. In the considered cases with a weak EOF or strong ionic diffusion, a large deviation appears between the ion concentration inside the micropore and the bulk value, which fails the prediction by solution conductivity gradients. Based on our simulation results, effective equations were developed for the theoretical description of ion concentration distributions along the micropore axis under coupled concentration gradient and electric field. With the predicted ion distributions inside micropores, the ICR ratio can be conveniently calculated with the derived electrical resistance of the microfluidic system, which applies to micropores of 200 to 1000 nm in diameter. Because the surface charge density is the only unknown input parameter, our developed equations can be used to evaluate the surface charge density of micropores with the measured EOF-induced ICR ratio under concentration gradients.
