Free boundary space-like graphs with prescribed mean curvature

We address the prescribed Lorentzian mean curvature problem over a convex bounded domain $Ω$ of $\mathbb R^m$ with bounded right-hand side and homogeneous capillary boundary condition. We prove that the problem has a unique $W^{2,2}$-regular weak solution $u$ with zero mean and that $|Du| \leq 1 - θ$ for some $θ\in(0,1)$ only depending on the data. Such $u$ is also the unique maximizer of an associated functional. A key step in proving that the maximizer is a weak solution consists in showing that it has no light segments, i.e. segments along which $|Du| = 1$. This holds for arbitrary bounded capillary boundary data and can thus be an interesting result on its own.

Entire spacelike radial graphs with prescribed mean curvature in the Lorentz--Minkowski space

In this paper we address the existence and uniqueness of entire spacelike hypersurfaces in the Lorentz--Minkowski space $\mathbb{L}^{m+1}$ with prescribed mean curvature that are star-shaped with respect to a point and asymptotic to a light cone. We also establish a Willmore-type inequality and prove a non-existence result for spacelike radial graphs asymptotic to the light cone whose mean curvature belongs to $L^p$ for $1 \leq p\leq m$, in particular in the case of compactly supported mean curvature.

Prescribing the mean curvature of an achronal hypersurface as a measure: the case of 3D spacetimes

We study the existence problem for achronal hypersurfaces $M \hookrightarrow \overline{M}$ in a globally hyperbolic spacetime, whose mean curvature is a prescribed -- possibly singular -- source, and whose boundary is a given smooth spacelike submanifold. Since $M$ is allowed to go null somewhere, the mean curvature prescription is to be understood in the distributional sense. We prove a general existence and regularity theorem for surfaces in ambient dimension $3$. Although most of our estimates hold in any dimension, recent counterexamples show that some of our conclusions fail in ambient dimension at least $5$. The case of $4$D-spacetimes is an open problem. Our theorems have application to Born-Infeld electrostatics in general static spacetimes.
