From skew to reflected SPDEs

In this article, we prove that the solution of the skew stochastic heat equation converges to the solution of the stochastic heat equation with reflection in the limit of infinite skewness. The result holds at equilibrium. This provides an SPDE analog of the link between skew and reflected Brownian motion. One of the intermediate results is the convergence in law of a penalised Brownian bridge to a 3-Bessel bridge.

Remainders of generalised Taylor expansions and a priori bounds for rough differential equations

In this article we establish global a priori estimates on the solution of a generic rough differential equation driven by an $α$-Hölder path covering the full range of regularity $α\in(0,1)$, under the hypothesis of Lipschitz continuity (but neither boundedness nor coercivity) of specific combinations of the coefficients and their derivatives, called elementary differentials. Our main tool is a closed formula for the remainder of a generalised Taylor expansion in terms of products of gradients of the elementary differentials, which allows to take advantage of cancellations in an optimal way.

Post-Lie algebras of derivations and regularity structures

Given a commutative algebra $\mathcal{A}$, we exhibit a canonical structure of post-Lie algebra on the space $\mathcal{A}\otimes {\rm Der}(\mathcal{A})$ where ${\rm Der}(\mathcal{A})$ is the space of derivations on $\mathcal{A}$, in order to use the machinery given by Oudom-Guin (2008) and Ebrahimi-Fard--Lundervold--Munthe-Kaas (2015), and to define a Hopf algebra structure on the associated enveloping algebra with a natural action on $\mathcal{A}$. We apply these results to the setting of Linares-Otto-Tempelmayr (2023), giving a simpler and more efficient construction of their action and extending the recent work by Bruned-Katsetsiadis (2023). This approach gives an optimal setting to perform explicit computations in the associated structure group.

Convergence of dynamical stationary fluctuations

We present a general black box theorem that ensures convergence of a sequence of stationary Markov processes, provided a few assumptions are satisfied. This theorem relies on a control of the resolvents of the sequence of Markov processes, and on a suitable characterization of the resolvents of the limit. One major advantage of this approach is that it circumvents the use of the Boltzmann-Gibbs principle: for instance, we deduce in a rather simple way that the stationary fluctuations of the one-dimensional zero-range process converge to the stochastic heat equation. More importantly, it allows to establish results that were probably out of reach of existing methods: using the black box result, we are able to prove that the stationary fluctuations of a discrete model of ordered interfaces, that was considered previously in the statistical physics literature, converge to a system of reflected stochastic PDEs.

Hairer's multilevel Schauder estimates without Regularity Structures

We investigate the regularising properties of singular kernels at the level of germs, i.e. families of distributions indexed by points in $\mathbb{R}^d$. First we construct a suitable integration map which acts on general coherent germs. Then we focus on germs that can be decomposed along a basis (corresponding to the so-called modelled distributions in Regularity Structures) and we prove a version of Hairer's multilevel Schauder estimates in this setting, with minimal assumptions.

Shifted Substitution in Non-Commutative Multivariate Power Series with a View Toward Free Probability

We study a particular group law on formal power series in non-commuting variables induced by their interpretation as linear forms on a suitable graded connected word Hopf algebra. This group law is left-linear and is therefore associated to a pre-Lie structure on formal power series. We study these structures and show how they can be used to recast in a group theoretic form various identities and transformations on formal power series that have been central in the context of non-commutative probability theory, in particular in Voiculescu's theory of free probability.

The Sewing lemma for $0 < γ\leq 1$

We establish a Sewing lemma in the regime $γ\in \left( 0, 1 \right]$, constructing a Sewing map which is neither unique nor canonical, but which is nonetheless continuous with respect to the standard norms. Two immediate corollaries follow, which hold on any commutative graded connected locally finite Hopf algebra: a simple constructive proof of the Lyons-Victoir extension theorem which associates to a Hölder path a rough path, with the additional result that this map can be made continuous; the bicontinuity of a transitive free action of a space of Hölder functions on the set of Rough Paths.

A Microlocal Approach to Renormalization in Stochastic PDEs

We present a novel framework for the study of a large class of non-linear stochastic PDEs, which is inspired by the algebraic approach to quantum field theory. The main merit is that, by realizing random fields within a suitable algebra of functional-valued distributions, we are able to use techniques proper of microlocal analysis which allow us to discuss renormalization and its associated freedomw without resorting to any regularization scheme and to the subtraction of infinities. As an example of the effectiveness of the approach we apply it to the perturbative analysis of the stochastic $Φ^3_d$ model.

Geometric stochastic heat equations

We consider a natural class of $\mathbf{R}^d$-valued one-dimensional stochastic PDEs driven by space-time white noise that is formally invariant under the action of the diffeomorphism group on $\mathbf{R}^d$. This class contains in particular the KPZ equation, the multiplicative stochastic heat equation, the additive stochastic heat equation, and rough Burgers-type equations. We exhibit a one-parameter family of solution theories with the following properties: - For all SPDEs in our class for which a solution was previously available, every solution in our family coincides with the previously constructed solution, whether that was obtained using Itô calculus (additive and multiplicative stochastic heat equation), rough path theory (rough Burgers-type equations), or the Hopf-Cole transform (KPZ equation). - Every solution theory is equivariant under the action of the diffeomorphism group, i.e. identities obtained by formal calculations treating the noise as a smooth function are valid. - Every solution theory satisfies an analogue of Itô's isometry. - The counterterms leading to our solution theories vanish at points where the equation agrees to leading order with the additive stochastic heat equation. In particular, points 2 and 3 show that, surprisingly, our solution theories enjoy properties analogous to those holding for both the Stratonovich and Itô interpretations of SDEs simultaneously. For the natural noisy perturbation of the harmonic map flow with values in an arbitrary Riemannian manifold, we show that all these solution theories coincide. In particular, this allows us to conjecturally identify the process associated to the Markov extension of the Dirichlet form corresponding to the $L^2$-gradient flow for the Brownian loop measure.

Hairer's Reconstruction Theorem without Regularity Structures

This survey is devoted to Martin Hairer's Reconstruction Theorem, which is one of the cornerstones of his theory of Regularity Structures. Our aim is to give a new self-contained and elementary proof of this Theorem, together with some applications, including a characterization, based on a single arbitrary test function, of negative Hölder spaces. We present the Reconstruction Theorem as a general result in the theory of distributions that can be understood without any knowledge of Regularity Structures themselves, which we do not even need to define.

The geometry of the space of branched Rough Paths

We construct an explicit transitive free action of a Banach space of Hölder functions on the space of branched rough paths, which yields in particular a bijection between theses two spaces. This endows the space of branched rough paths with the structure of a principal homogeneous space over a Banach space and allows to characterize its automorphisms. The construction is based on the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff formula, on a constructive version of the Lyons-Victoir extension theorem and on the Hairer-Kelly map, which allows to describe branched rough paths in terms of anisotropic geometric rough paths.

Bessel SPDEs and renormalised local times

In this article, we prove integration by parts formulae (IbPFs) for the laws of Bessel bridges from 0 to 0 over the interval [0,1] of dimension smaller than 3. As an application, we construct a weak version of an SPDE having the law of a one-dimensional Bessel bridge (i.e. the law of a reflected Brownian bridge) as reversible measure, the dimension 1 being particularly relevant in view of applications to scaling limits of dynamical critical pinning models. We also exploit the IbPFs to conjecture the structure of the SPDEs associated with Bessel bridges of all dimensions smaller than 3.

Algebraic renormalisation of regularity structures

We give a systematic description of a canonical renormalisation procedure of stochastic PDEs containing nonlinearities involving generalised functions. This theory is based on the construction of a new class of regularity structures which comes with an explicit and elegant description of a subgroup of their group of automorphisms. This subgroup is sufficiently large to be able to implement a version of the BPHZ renormalisation prescription in this context. This is in stark contrast to previous works where one considered regularity structures with a much smaller group of automorphisms, which lead to a much more indirect and convoluted construction of a renormalisation group acting on the corresponding space of admissible models by continuous transformations. Our construction is based on bialgebras of decorated coloured forests in cointeraction. More precisely, we have two Hopf algebras in cointeraction, coacting jointly on a vector space which represents the generalised functions of the theory. Two twisted antipodes play a fundamental role in the construction and provide a variant of the algebraic Birkhoff factorisation that arises naturally in perturbative quantum field theory.

Hopf-algebraic deformations of products and Wick polynomials

We present an approach to classical definitions and results on cumulant--moment relations and Wick polynomials based on extensive use of convolution products of linear functionals on a coalgebra. This allows, in particular, to understand the construction of Wick polynomials as the result of a Hopf algebra deformation under the action of linear automorphisms induced by multivariate moments associated to an arbitrary family of random variables with moments of all orders. We also generalise the notion of deformed product in order to discuss how these ideas appear in the recent theory of regularity structures.

A Renewal version of the Sanov theorem

Large deviations for the local time of a process $X_t$ are investigated, where $X_t=x_i$ for $t \in [S_{i-1},S_i[$ and $(x_j)$ are i.i.d.\ random variables on a Polish space, $S_j$ is the $j$-th arrival time of a renewal process depending on $(x_j)$. No moment conditions are assumed on the arrival times of the renewal process.

Large deviations for the empirical measure of heavy tailed Markov renewal processes

A large deviations principle is established for the joint law of the empirical measure and the flow measure of a renewal Markov process on a finite graph. We do not assume any bound on the arrival times, allowing heavy tailed distributions. In particular, the rate functional is in general degenerate (it has a nontrivial set of zeros) and not strictly convex. These features show a behavior highly different from what one may guess with a heuristic Donsker-Varadhan analysis of the problem.

On Exceptional Times for generalized Fleming-Viot Processes with Mutations

If $\mathbf Y$ is a standard Fleming-Viot process with constant mutation rate (in the infinitely many sites model) then it is well known that for each $t>0$ the measure $\mathbf Y_t$ is purely atomic with infinitely many atoms. However, Schmuland proved that there is a critical value for the mutation rate under which almost surely there are exceptional times at which $\mathbf Y$ is a finite sum of weighted Dirac masses. In the present work we discuss the existence of such exceptional times for the generalized Fleming-Viot processes. In the case of Beta-Fleming-Viot processes with index $α\in\,]1,2[$ we show that - irrespectively of the mutation rate and $α$ - the number of atoms is almost surely always infinite. The proof combines a Pitman-Yor type representation with a disintegration formula, Lamperti's transformation for self-similar processes and covering results for Poisson point processes.
