Performance of different machine learning methods on activity recognition and pose estimation datasets

With advancements in computer vision taking place day by day, recently a lot of light is being shed on activity recognition. With the range for real-world applications utilizing this field of study increasing across a multitude of industries such as security and healthcare, it becomes crucial for businesses to distinguish which machine learning methods perform better than others in the area. This paper strives to aid in this predicament i.e. building upon previous related work, it employs both classical and ensemble approaches on rich pose estimation (OpenPose) and HAR datasets. Making use of appropriate metrics to evaluate the performance for each model, the results show that overall, random forest yields the highest accuracy in classifying ADLs. Relatively all the models have excellent performance across both datasets, except for logistic regression and AdaBoost perform poorly in the HAR one. With the limitations of this paper also discussed in the end, the scope for further research is vast, which can use this paper as a base in aims of producing better results.

Investigation of 2-dimensional fluid flow using finite difference flow method of Navier-Stokes equation

The presented research paper illustrates the development of a new methodology to solve 2-dimensional (2D) Navier-Stoke equations, which Pukhnachev proposed through introducing unknown functions in the stream and pressure functions of fluid flow. The proposed novel method is distinguishable from the common vorticity-stream given in the Navier-Stokes expression because it has a stream function that corresponds to the unknown function in the elliptic expression. The equation represents a couple of scheme in algorithmic considerations because it enables two situations to be solved using one function of the subject stream without putting new conditions on the innovative function. Here, the concept of numerical algorithm is applied in a flow under a cavity to represent a benchmark task to be solved. The benchmark task gives enough representation of the subject flow.

The Brahmaputra: A Socio-Political Conundrum

The Brahmaputra mainly flows through three countries China, India, and Bangladesh. It has been a source of conflict for the involved nations due to the intricacies of transboundary water management such as the power play between upper and lower riparian countries, the lack of comprehensive bilateral or multilateral cooperation policies, and the correlation of water conflicts with territorial disputes. Each countrys means of safeguarding its resources through the construction of dams and hydroelectric power projects affect the other States. These conflicts have led to adverse consequences like flooding, withholding of important meteorological data, and potential diversion of river water. This paper examines the implications of these measures on the national interests of the countries involved with respect to their national security, water security, economic development, and ecological stability. The paper has chosen to analyze these implications drawing precedence from the case studies of the Danube River and the Aswan Dam on the Nile River to deduce commonalities with the transboundary water conflict at hand. Secondly, data regarding each countrys dependency on the Brahmaputras water is interpreted to gauge the consequences of disruptions in its flow.

Growth and Photoelectrochemical Study of Germanium Sulphoselenide GeS$_{0.25}$Se$_{0.75}$ (I2) Crystals

In the present investigation, the author has employed a Chemical Vapour Transport (CVT) technique to grow the crystals of GeS$_{0.25}$Se$_{0.75}$ using iodine as a transporting agent. The grown crystals were then characterized for a Photoelectrochemical(PEC) study to find out solar parameters e.g. Fill Factor (FF), Open Circuit Voltage (Voc), Short Circuit Current (Isc), and Efficiency (n).
