Modified Laplace-Beltrami quantization of natural Hamiltonian systems with quadratic constants of motion

It is natural to investigate if the quantization of an integrable or superintegrable classical Hamiltonian systems is still integrable or superintegrable. We study here this problem in the case of natural Hamiltonians with constants of motion quadratic in the momenta. The procedure of quantization here considered, transforms the Hamiltonian into the Laplace-Beltrami operator plus a scalar potential. In order to transform the constants of motion into symmetry operators of the quantum Hamiltonian, additional scalar potentials, known as quantum corrections, must be introduced, depending on the Riemannian structure of the manifold. We give here a complete geometric characterization of the quantum corrections necessary for the case considered. Stäckel systems are studied in particular details. Examples in conformally and non-conformally flat manifolds are given.

Extended Hamiltonians, Coupling-Constant Metamorphosis and the Post-Winternitz System

The coupling-constant metamorphosis is applied to modified extended Hamiltonians and sufficient conditions are found in order that the transformed high-degree first integral of the transformed Hamiltonian is determined by the same algorithm which computes the corresponding first integral of the original extended Hamiltonian. As examples, we consider the Post-Winternitz system and the 2D caged anisotropic oscillator.

The Tremblay-Turbiner-Winternitz system as extended Hamiltonian

We generalize the idea of "extension of Hamiltonian systems" -- developed in a series of previous articles -- which allows the explicit construction of Hamiltonian systems with additional non-trivial polynomial first integrals of arbitrarily high degree, as well as the determination of new superintegrable systems from old ones. The present generalization, that we call "modified extension of Hamiltonian systems", produces the third independent first integral for the (complete) Tremblay-Turbiner-Winternitz (TTW) system, as well as for the caged anisotropic oscillator in dimension two.

Extensions of Hamiltonian systems dependent on a rational parameter

The technique of "extension" allows to build $(n+1)$-dimensional Hamiltonian systems with a non-trivial polynomial in the momenta first integral of any given degree starting from a $n$-dimensional Hamiltonian satisfying some additional properties. Until now, the application of the method was restricted to integer values of a certain fundamental parameter determining the degree of the additional first integral. In this article we show how this technique can be generalized to any rational value of the same parameter. Several examples are given, among them the anisotropic oscillator and a special case of the Tremblay-Turbiner-Winternitz system.

Superintegrable Extensions of Superintegrable Systems

A procedure to extend a superintegrable system into a new superintegrable one is systematically tested for the known systems on $\mathbb E^2$ and $\mathbb S^2$ and for a family of systems defined on constant curvature manifolds. The procedure results effective in many cases including Tremblay-Turbiner-Winternitz and three-particle Calogero systems.

Generalizations of a method for constructing first integrals of a class of natural Hamiltonians and some remarks about quantization

In previous papers we determined necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a class of natural Hamiltonians with non-trivial first integrals of arbitrarily high degree in the momenta. Such Hamiltonians were characterized as (n+1)-dimensional extensions of n-dimensional Hamiltonians on constant-curvature (pseudo-)Riemannian manifolds Q. In this paper, we generalize that approach in various directions, we obtain an explicit expression for the first integrals, holding on the more general case of Hamiltonians on Poisson manifolds, and show how the construction of above is made possible by the existence on Q of particular conformal Killing tensors or, equivalently, particular conformal master symmetries of the geodesic equations. Finally, we consider the problem of Laplace-Beltrami quantization of these first integrals when they are of second-degree.

First Integrals of Extended Hamiltonians in n+1 Dimensions Generated by Powers of an Operator

We describe a procedure to construct polynomial in the momenta first integrals of arbitrarily high degree for natural Hamiltonians $H$ obtained as one-dimensional extensions of natural (geodesic) $n$-dimensional Hamiltonians $L$. The Liouville integrability of $L$ implies the (minimal) superintegrability of $H$. We prove that, as a consequence of natural integrability conditions, it is necessary for the construction that the curvature of the metric tensor associated with $L$ is constant. As examples, the procedure is applied to one-dimensional $L$, including and improving earlier results, and to two and three-dimensional $L$, providing new superintegrable systems.

Superintegrable three body systems in one dimension and generalizations

Superintegrable Hamiltonian systems describing the interactions among three point masses on a line have been described in [2]. Here, we show examples of how the approach of above can be extended to a higher number of particles on a line and on higher dimensional manifolds. This paper is a slightly extended version of a poster presented at the XVI ICMP held in Prague, 3-8 August 2009.

Superintegrable 3-body systems on the line

We consider classical three-body interactions on a Euclidean line depending on the reciprocal distance of the particles and admitting four functionally independent quadratic in the momenta first integrals. These systems are superseparable (i.e. multiseparable), superintegrable and equivalent (up to rescalings) to a one-particle system in the three-dimensional Euclidean space. Common features of the dynamics are discussed. We show how to determine the quantum symmetry operators associated with the first integrals considered here but do not analyze the corresponding quantum dynamics. The conformal superseparability is proved and examples of conformal first integrals are given. The systems considered here in generality include the Calogero, Wolfes, and other three-body interactions widely studied in mathematical physics.

Complex variables for separation of Hamilton-Jacobi equation on real pseudo-Riemannian manifolds

In this paper the geometric theory of separation of variables for time-independent Hamilton-Jacobi equation is extended to include the case of complex eigenvalues of a Killing tensor on pseudo-Riemannian manifolds. This task is performed without to complexify the manifold but just considering complex-valued functions on it. The simple formalism introduced allows to extend in a very natural way the classical results on separation of variables (including Levi-Civita criterion and Stackel-Eisenhart theory) to the complex case. Orthogonal variables only are considered.

A trihamiltonian extension of the Toda lattice

A new Poisson structure on a subspace of the Kupershmidt algebra is defined. This Poisson structure, together with other two already known, allows to construct a trihamiltonian recurrence for an extension of the periodic Toda lattice with $n$ particles. Some explicit examples of the construction and of the first integrals found in this way are given.

Trihamiltonian extensions of separable systems in the plane

A method to construct trihamiltonian extensions of a separable system is presented. The procedure is tested for systems, with a natural Hamiltonian, separable in classical sense in one of the four orthogonal separable coordinate systems of the Euclidean plane, and some explicit examples are constructed. Finally a conjecture on possible generalizations to other classes of systems is discussed: in particular, the method can be easily adapted to the eleven orthogonal separable coordinate sets of the Euclidean three-space.

On deformation of Poisson manifolds of hydrodynamic type

We study a class of deformations of infinite-dimensional Poisson manifolds of hydrodynamic type which are of interest in the theory of Frobenius manifolds. We prove two results. First, we show that the second cohomology group of these manifolds, in the Poisson-Lichnerowicz cohomology, is ``essentially'' trivial. Then, we prove a conjecture of B. Dubrovin about the triviality of homogeneous formal deformations of the above manifolds.
