Jet energy loss in anisotropic plasmas meets limiting attractors

We consider the energy loss of a high-energy parton in the early anisotropic plasma in heavy-ion collisions. Working in the harmonic approximation, we compute the change in the mean energy of an emitted gluon in the presence of an anisotropic background, characterized by anisotropic jet quenching parameters $\hat q_{x}\neq \hat q_{y}$. Evaluating the resulting integrals numerically, we compare with isotropic media, and obtain a simple pocket formula to estimate the impact of anisotropy on the mean emitted gluon energy, which is generally small. We then combine our results with the values of the jet quenching parameter extracted from QCD kinetic theory simulations and show that the medium length dependence of this mean energy loss exhibits the characteristics of limiting attractors, which can be obtained by extrapolating to zero and infinite coupling. Our study thus relates energy loss of jet partons to universal dynamics of anisotropic plasmas.

Kerroll black holes

We construct rotating black holes in Carroll gravity using two distinct approaches. In one of them, we exploit the freedom in the Carroll compatible connection to encode rotation. In particular, we construct rotating solutions in magnetic Carroll gravity by dressing the Carroll-Schwarzschild black hole with a rotational charge. This solution is intrinsically Carrollian and has no Lorentzian analog. In the other approach, we construct an extension of magnetic Carroll gravity from general relativity in an odd-power expansion in the speed of light. This theory contains magnetic Carroll gravity as a subsector but has in general more physical degrees of freedom. We show that this theory admits a Carroll analog of the Kerr black hole as a solution, which we refer to as the "Kerroll black hole". Its rotation appears as an intrinsically odd-power effect in the Carroll data. We compute the corresponding conserved charges for both theories.

Free-field construction of Carrollian $W_N$-algebras

We study Carrollian contractions of $W_N$-algebras from a free-field perspective. Using a contraction of the Miura transformation, we obtain explicit free-field realizations of the resulting Carrollian $W_N$-algebras. At the classical level, they are isomorphic to the Galilean $W_N$-algebras. In the quantum case, we distinguish between two Carrollian constructions: a flipped Carrollian contraction, where the time direction is reversed in one sector, and a symmetric contraction. The flipped construction yields a quantum algebra isomorphic to the Galilean one, whereas the symmetric construction produces a distinct quantum Carrollian $W_N$-algebra whose basic structure constants are identical to those of the classical Carrollian $W_N$-algebra. These algebras provide a natural framework for studying extended symmetries in Carrollian conformal field theories, motivated by recent developments in flat space holography. Our construction provides tools for developing the representation theory of Carrollian (and Galilean) $W_N$-algebras using free-field techniques.
