Shafarevich mappings and period mappings

We shall show that a smooth, quasi-projective variety $X$ has a holomorphically convex universal covering $\wt X$ when (i) $π_1(X)$ is residually nilpotent and (ii) there is an admissable variation of \mhs\ over $X$ whose monodromy representation has a finite kernel, and where in each case a corresponding period mapping is assumed to be proper.

Strictification and gluing of Lagrangian distributions on derived schemes with shifted symplectic forms

A strictification result is proved for isotropic distributions on derived schemes equipped with negatively shifted homotopically closed $2$-forms. It is shown that any derived scheme over $\mathbb{C}$ equipped with a $-2$-shifted symplectic structure, and having a Hausdorff space of classical points, admits a globally defined Lagrangian distribution as a dg $\mathbb{C}^{\infty}$-manifold.

Global shifted potentials for moduli stacks of sheaves on Calabi-Yau four-folds

It is shown that there are globally defined Lagrangian distributions on the stable loci of derived Quot-stacks of coherent sheaves on Calabi--Yau four-folds. Dividing by these distributions produces perfectly obstructed smooth stacks with globally defined $-1$-shifted potentials, whose derived critical loci give back the stable loci of smooth stacks of sheaves in global Darboux form.

Spectral networks and stability conditions for Fukaya categories with coefficients

Given a holomorphic family of Bridgeland stability conditions over a surface, we define a notion of spectral network which is an object in a Fukaya category of the surface with coefficients in a triangulated DG-category. These spectral networks are analogs of special Lagrangian submanifolds, combining a graph with additional algebraic data, and conjecturally correspond to semistable objects of a suitable stability condition on the Fukaya category with coefficients. They are closely related to the spectral networks of Gaiotto--Moore--Neitzke. One novelty of our approach is that we establish a general uniqueness results for spectral network representatives. We also verify the conjecture in the case when the surface is disk with six marked points on the boundary and the coefficients category is the derived category of representations of an $A_2$ quiver. This example is related, via homological mirror symmetry, to the stacky quotient of an elliptic curve by the cyclic group of order six.

Shifted symplectic structures on derived Quot-stacks I: Differential graded manifolds

A theory of dg schemes is developed so that it becomes a homotopy site, and the corresponding infinity category of stacks is equivalent to the infinity category of stacks, as constructed by Toen and Vezzosi, on the site of dg algebras whose cohomologies have finitely many generators in each degree. Stacks represented by dg schemes are shown to be derived schemes under this correspondence.

Tropical Homology

Given a tropical variety X and two non-negative integers p and q we define homology group $H_{p,q}(X)$. We show that if X is a smooth tropical variety that can be represented as the tropical limit of a 1-parameter family of complex projective varieties, then $\dim H_{p,q}(X)$ coincides with the Hodge number $h^{p,q}$ of a general member of the family.

Semistability, modular lattices, and iterated logarithms

We provide a complete description of the asymptotics of the gradient flow on the space of metrics on any semistable quiver representation. This involves a recursive construction of approximate solutions and the appearance of iterated logarithms and a limiting filtration of the representation. The filtration turns out to have an algebraic definition which makes sense in any finite length modular lattice. This is part of a larger project by the authors to study iterated logarithms in the asymptotics of gradient flows, both in finite and infinite dimensional settings.

Non-commutative counting invariants and curve complexes

In our previous paper, viewing $D^b(K(l))$ as a non-commutative curve, where $K(l)$ is the Kronecker quiver with $l$-arrows, we introduced categorical invariants via counting of non-commutative curves. Roughly, these invariants are sets of subcategories in a given category and their quotients. The non-commutative curve-counting invariants are obtained by restricting the subcategories to be equivalent to $D^b(K(l))$. The general definition defines much larger class of invariants and many of them behave properly with respect to fully faithful functors. Here, after recalling the definition, we focus on examples and extend our studies beyond counting. We enrich our invariants with structures: the inclusion of subcategories makes them partially ordered sets, and considering semi-orthogonal pairs of subcategories as edges amount to directed graphs. In addition to computing the non-commutative curve-counting invariants in $D^b(Q)$ for two affine quivers, for $ A_n$ and $D_4$ we derive formulas for counting of the subcategories of type $D^b(A_k)$ in $D^b(A_n)$, whereas for the two affine quivers and for $D_4$ we determine and count all generated by an exceptional collection subcategories. Estimating the numbers counting non-commutative curves in $D^b({\mathbb P}^2)$ modulo group action we prove finiteness and that an exact determining of these numbers leads to proving (or disproving) of Markov conjecture. Regarding the mentioned structure of a partially ordered set we initiate intersection theory of non-commutative curves. Via the structure of a directed graph we build an analogue to the classical curve complex used in Teichmueller and Thurston theory. The paper contains many pictures of graphs and presents an approach to Markov Conjecture via counting of subgraphs in a graph associated with $D^b(P^2)$. Some of the results proved here were announced in the previous work.

Quantum (Non-commutative) Toric Geometry: Foundations

In this paper, we will introduce Quantum Toric Varieties which are (non-commutative) generalizations of ordinary toric varieties where all the tori of the classical theory are replaced by quantum tori. Quantum toric geometry is the non-commutative version of the classical theory; it generalizes non-trivially most of the theorems and properties of toric geometry. By considering quantum toric varieties as (non-algebraic) stacks, we define their category and show that it is equivalent to a category of quantum fans. We develop a Quantum Geometric Invariant Theory (QGIT) type construction of Quantum Toric Varieties. Unlike classical toric varieties, quantum toric varieties admit moduli and we define their moduli spaces, prove that these spaces are orbifolds and, in favorable cases, up to homotopy, they admit a complex structure.

P=W Phenomena

In this paper, we describe recent work towards the mirror P=W conjecture, which relates the weight filtration on a cohomology of a log Calabi--Yau manifold to the perverse Leray filtration on the cohomology of the homological mirror dual log Calabi--Yau manifold, taken with respect to the affinization map. This conjecture extends the classical relationship between Hodge numbers of mirror dual compact Calabi--Yau manifolds, incorporating tools and ideas which appear in the fascinating and groundbreaking works of de Cataldo, Hausel, and Migliorini, and de Cataldo and Migliorini. We give a broad overview of the motivation for this conjecture, recent results towards it, and describe how this result might arise from the SYZ formulation of mirror symmetry. This interpretation of the mirror P=W conjecture provides a possible bridge between the mirror P=W conjecture and the well-known P=W conjecture in nonabelian Hodge theory.

More finite sets coming from non-commutative counting

In our previous papers we introduced categorical invariants, which are, roughly speaking, sets of triangulated subcategories in a given triangulated category and their quotients. Here is extended the list of examples, where these sets are finite. Using results by Geigle, Lenzning, Meltzer, Hübner for weighted projective lines we show that for any two affine acyclic quivers $Q$, $Q'$ (i.e. quivers of extended Dynkin type) there are only finitely many full triangulated subctegories in $D^b(Rep_{\mathbb K}(Q))$, which are equivalent to $D^b(Rep_{\mathbb K}(Q'))$, where ${\mathbb K}$ is an algebraically closed field. Some of the numbers counting the elements in these finite sets are explicitly determined.

Perverse sheaves of categories and some applications

We study perverse sheaves of categories their connections to classical algebraic geometry. We show how perverse sheaves of categories encode naturally derived categories of coherent sheaves on $\mathbb{P}^1$ bundles, semiorthogonal decompositions, and relate them to a recent proof of Segal that all autoequivalences of triangulated categories are spherical twists. Furthermore, we show that perverse sheaves of categories can be used to represent certain degenerate Calabi--Yau varieties.

Projecting Fanos in the mirror

In the paper "Birational geometry via moduli spaces" by I. Cheltsov, L. Katzarkov, and V. Przyjalkowski a new structure connecting toric degenerations of smooth Fano threefolds by projections was introduced; using Mirror Symmetry these connections were transferred to the side of Landau--Ginzburg models. In the paper mentioned above a nice way to connect of Picard rank one Fano threefolds was found. We apply this approach to all smooth Fano threefolds, connecting their degenerations by toric basic links. In particular, we find a lot of Gorenstein toric degenerations of smooth Fano threefolds we need. We implement mutations in the picture as well. It turns out that appropriate chosen toric degenerations of the Fanos are given by toric basic links from a few roots. We interpret the relations we found in terms of Mirror Symmetry.

Symplectic Surgeries Along Certain Singularities and New Lefschetz Fibrations

We define a new 4-dimensional symplectic cut and paste operations arising from the generalized star relations $(t_{a_0}t_{a_1}t_{a_2} \cdots t_{a_{2g+1}})^{2g+1} = t_{b_1} t_{b_2}^{g}t_{b_3}$, also known as the trident relations, in the mapping class group $Γ_{g,3}$ of an orientable surface of genus $g\geq1$ with $3$ boundary components. We also construct new families of Lefschetz fibrations by applying the (generalized) star relations and the chain relations to the families of words $(t_{c_1}t_{c_2} \cdots t_{c_{2g-1}}t_{c_{2g}}t_{c_{2g+1}}^2t_{c_{2g}}t_{c_{2g-1}} \cdots t_{c_2}t_{c_1})^{2n} = 1$, $(t_{c_1}t_{c_2} \cdots t_{c_{2g}}t_{c_{2g+1}})^{(2g+2)n} = 1$ and $(t_{c_1}t_{c_2} \cdots t_{c_{2g-1}}t_{c_{2g}})^{2(2g+1)n} = 1$ in the mapping class group $Γ_{g}$ of the closed orientable surface of genus $g \geq 1$ and $n \geq 1$. Furthemore, we show that the total spaces of some of these Lefschetz fibraions are irreducible exotic symplectic $4$-manifolds. Using the degenerate cases of the generalized star relations, we also realize all elliptic Lefschetz fibrations and genus two Lefschetz fibrations over $\mathbb{S}^{2}$ with non-separating vanishing cycles.

Non-semistable exceptional objects in hereditary categories: some remarks and conjectures

In our previous paper we studied non-semistable exceptional objects in hereditary categories and introduced the notion of regularity preserving category, but we obtained quite a few examples of such categories. Certain conditions on the Ext-nontrivial couples (exceptional objects $X,Y\in \mathcal A$ with ${\rm Ext}^1(X,Y)\neq 0$ and ${\rm Ext}^1(Y,X)\neq 0$) were shown to imply regularity-preserving. This paper is a brief review of the previous paper (with emphasis on regularity preserving property) and we add some remarks and conjectures. It is known that in Dynkin quivers ${\rm Hom}(ρ,ρ')=0$ or ${\rm Ext}^1(ρ,ρ')=0$ for any two exceptional representations. In the present paper we use this property to show that for any Dynkin quiver $Q$ there are no Ext-nontrivial couples in $Rep_k(Q)$, which implies regularity preserving of $Rep_k(Q)$, where $k$ is an algebraically closed field. We study this property in other quivers. In particular in any star quiver with three arms $Q$ for any two exceptional representations $ρ, ρ'$ we have ${\rm Hom}(ρ,ρ')=0$ or ${\rm Ext}^1(ρ,ρ')=0$ provided that $ρ$ or $ρ'$ is a thin representation. In the previous version we asserted falsely that this holds for any two exceptional representations (without imposing the restriction that one of them is thin) for extended Dynkin quivers $\widetilde{\mathbb E}_6, \widetilde{\mathbb E}_7, \widetilde{\mathbb E}_8 $.

Iterated logarithms and gradient flows

We consider applications of the theory of balanced weight filtrations and iterated logarithms, initiated in arXiv:1706.01073, to PDEs. The main result is a complete description of the asymptotics of the Yang--Mills flow on the space of metrics on a holomorphic bundle over a Riemann surface. A key ingredient in the argument is a monotonicity property of the flow which holds in arbitrary dimension. The A-side analog is a modified curve shortening flow for which we provide a heuristic calculation in support of a detailed conjectural picture.

Some new categorical invariants

We introduce several notions and give examples. We prove that ${\rm Stab}(D^b(K(l)))\cong {\mathbb C}\times \mathcal H$ for $l\geq 3$, where $K(l)$ is $l$-Kronecker quiver. This is an example of SOD, where ${\rm Stab}( \langle \mathcal T_1,\mathcal T_2\rangle )\not \cong{\rm Stab}(\mathcal T_1)\times {\rm Stab}(\mathcal T_2)$. This example suggest a new notion of a norm, strictly increasing on $\{D^b(K(l))\}_{l\geq 2}$. To a triangulated category $\mathcal T$ which has property of a phase gap we attach a non-negative number $\Vert \mathcal T \Vert_{\varepsilon}$. Natural assumptions on a SOD imply $ \Vert \langle \mathcal T_1,\mathcal T_2\rangle \Vert_{\varepsilon}\geq {\rm max}\{ \Vert \mathcal T_1 \Vert_{\varepsilon}, \Vert\mathcal T_2 \Vert_{\varepsilon}\}$. Using this we define a topology on the set of equivalence classes of triangulated categories with a phase gap, where the set of discrete derived categories is a discrete subset and the rationality of a smooth surface $S$ ensures that $[D^b(point)] \in {\rm Cl}([D^b(S)])$. Viewing $D^b(K(l))$ as a non-commutative curve, we observe that it is reasonable to count non-commutative curves in any category in a small neighborhood of $D^b(K(l))$. Examples show that this idea (non-commutative curve-counting) opens directions to new categorical structures and connections to number theory and classical geometry. We give a definition, which specializes to the non-commutative curve-counting invariants. In an example arising on the A side we specialize our definition to non-commutative Calabi-Yau curve-counting, where the entities we count are a Calabi-Yau modification of $D^b(K(l))$. Finally we speculate that one might consider a holomorphic family of categories, introduced by Kontsevich, as a non-commutative extension with the norm playing a role similar to the classical notion of degree of an extension in Galois theory.
