Hopf algebroids and twists for quantum projective spaces

We study the relationship between antipodes on a Hopf algebroid $\mathcal{H}$ in the sense of B\"ohm-Szlachanyi and the group of twists that lies inside the associated convolution algebra. We specialize to the case of a faithfully flat $H$-Hopf-Galois extensions $B\subseteq A$ and related Ehresmann-Schauenburg bialgebroid. In particular, we find that the twists are in one-to-one correspondence with $H$-comodule algebra automorphism of $A$. We work out in detail the $U(1)$-extension ${\mathcal O}(\mathbb{C}P^{n-1}_q)\subseteq {\mathcal O}(S^{2n-1}_q)$ on the quantum projective space and show how to get an antipode on the bialgebroid out of the $K$-theory of the base algebra ${\mathcal O}(\mathbb{C}P^{n-1}_q)$.

Real Spectral Triples on Crossed Products

Given a spectral triple on a unital $C^{*}$-algebra $A$ and an equicontinuous action of a discrete group $G$ on $A$, a spectral triple on the reduced crossed product $C^{*}$-algebra $A\rtimes_r G$ was constructed by Hawkins, Skalski, White and Zacharias in [On spectral triples on crossed products arising from equicontinuous actions, Math. Scand. 113(2) (2013) 262-291], extending the construction by Belissard, Marcolli and Reihani in [Dynamical systems on spectral metric spaces, preprint (2010), arXiv:1008.4617], by using the Kasparov product to make an ansatz for the Dirac operator. Supposing that the triple on $A$ is equivariant for an action of $G$, we show that the triple on $A\rtimes_r G$ is equivariant for the dual coaction of $G$. If moreover an equivariant real structure $J$ is given for the triple on $A$, we give constructions for two inequivalent real structures on the triple $A\rtimes_rG$. We compute the KO-dimension with respect to each real structure in terms of the KO-dimension of $J$ and show that the first and the second order conditions are preserved. Lastly, we characterise an equivariant orientation cycle on the triple on $A\rtimes_rG$ coming from an equivariant orientation cycle on the triple on $A$. We show, along the paper, that our constructions generalize the respective constructions of the equivariant spectral triple on the noncommutative $2$-torus.

Spectral triples with multitwisted real structure

We generalize the notion of spectral triple with reality structure to spectral triples with multitwisted real structure, the class of which is closed under the tensor product composition. In particular, we introduce a multitwisted order one condition (characterizing the Dirac operators as an analogue of first-order differential operator). This provides a unified description of the known examples, which include rescaled triples with the conformal factor from the commutant of the algebra and (on the algebraic level) triples on quantum disc and on quantum cone, that satisfy twisted first order condition of \cite{BCDS16,BDS19}, as well as asymmetric tori, non-scalar conformal rescaling and noncommutative circle bundles. In order to deal with them we allow twists that do not implement automorphisms of the algebra of spectral triple.

Gauge transformations of spectral triples with twisted real structures

Twisted real structures are well-motivated as a way to implement the conformal transformation of a Dirac operator for a real spectral triple without needing to twist the noncommutative 1-forms. We study the coupling of spectral triples with twisted real structures to gauge fields, adopting Morita equivalence via modules and bimodules as a guiding principle and paying special attention to modifications to the inner fluctuations of the Dirac operator. In particular, we analyse the twisted first-order condition as a possible alternative to abandoning the first-order condition in order to go beyond the Standard Model, and elaborate upon the special case of gauge transformations accordingly. Applying the formalism to a toy model, we argue that under certain physically-motivated assumptions the spectral triple based on the left-right symmetric algebra should reduce to that of the Standard Model of fundamental particles and interactions, as in the untwisted case.

Twisted reality and the second-order condition

An interesting feature of the finite-dimensional real spectral triple (A,H,D,J) of the Standard Model is that it satisfies a ``second-order'' condition: conjugation by J maps the Clifford algebra Cl_D(A) into its commutant, which in fact is isomorphic to the Clifford algebra itself (H is a self-Morita equivalence Cl_D(A)-bimodule). This resembles a property of the canonical spectral triple of a closed oriented Riemannian manifold: there is a dense subspace of H which is a self-Morita equivalence Cl_D(A)-bimodule. In this paper we argue that on manifolds, in order for the self-Morita equivalence to be implemented by a reality operator J, one has to introduce a ``twist'' and weaken one of the axioms of real spectral triples. We then investigate how the above mentioned conditions behave under products of spectral triples.

Fermion masses, mass-mixing and the almost commutative geometry of the Standard Model

We investigate whether the Standard Model, within the accuracy of current experimental measurements, satisfies the Hodge duality condition introduced and studied in Dabrowski, D'Andrea, Sitarz, Lett Math Phys (2018) 108:1323. We show that the neutrino and quark mass-mixing and the difference of fermion masses is necessary for this property. We demonstrate that the current data supports the new geometric feature of the Standard Model, Hodge duality, provided that all neutrinos are massive.

Spin geometry of the rational noncommutative torus

The twined almost commutative structure of the standard spectral triple on the noncommutative torus with rational parameter is exhibited, by showing isomorphisms with a spectral triple on the algebra of sections of certain bundle of algebras, and a spectral triple on a certain invariant subalgebra of the product algebra. These isomorphisms intertwine also the grading and real structure. This holds for all four inequivalent spin structures, which are explicitly constructed in terms of double coverings of the noncommutative torus (with arbitrary real parameter). These results are extended also to a class of curved (non flat) spectral triples, obtained as a perturbation of the standard one by eight central elements.

On twisted reality conditions

We study the twisted reality condition of Math. Phys. Anal. Geom. 19 (2016),no. 3, Art. 16, for spectral triples, in particular with respect to the product and the commutant. Motivated by this we present the procedure, which allows one to "untwist" the twisted spectral triples studied in Lett. Math. Phys. 106 (2016), 1499-1530. We also relate this construction to conformally rescaled real twisted spectral triples, and discuss the untwisting of the `minimal twist' procedure of an even spectral triple.

Differential calculus on Jordan algebra and Jordan modules

Having in mind applications to particle physics we develop the differential calculus over Jordan algebras and the theory of connections on Jordan modules. In particular we focus on differential calculus over the exceptional Jordan algebra and provide a complete characterization of the theory of connections for free Jordan modules.

Spectral triples on the Jiang-Su algebra

We construct spectral triples on a class of particular inductive limits of matrix-valued function algebras. In the special case of the Jiang-Su algebra we employ a particular $AF$-embedding.

Solitons of general topological charge over noncommutative tori

We continue the study of solitons over noncommutative tori from the perspective of time-frequency analysis and treat the case of a general topological charge. Solutions are associated with vector bundles of higher rank over noncommutative tori. We express these vector bundles in terms of vector-valued Gabor frames and apply the duality theory of Gabor analysis to show that Gaussians are solitons of general topological charge over noncommutative tori. An energy functional for projections over noncommutative tori is the basis for the self and anti-self duality equations of the solitons which turns out to have a reformulation in terms of Gabor atoms and we prove that projections generated by Gaussians minimize this energy functional. Finally, we comment on the case of the Moyal plane and the associated continuous vector-valued Gabor frames and show that Gaussians are the only class of solitons.

Twisted reality condition for spectral triple on two points

Lowest dimensional spectral triples with twisted reality condition over the function algebra on two points are discussed. The gauge perturbations (fluctuations), chiral gauge perturbations, conformal rescalings, and permutation of the two points are presented.

The Standard Model in Noncommutative Geometry and Morita equivalence

We discuss some properties of the spectral triple $(A_F,H_F,D_F,J_F,γ_F)$ describing the internal space in the noncommutative geometry approach to the Standard Model, with $A_F=\mathbb{C}\oplus\mathbb{H}\oplus M_3(\mathbb{C})$. We show that, if we want $H_F$ to be a Morita equivalence bimodule between $A_F$ and the associated Clifford algebra, two terms must be added to the Dirac operator; we then study its relation with the orientability condition for a spectral triple. We also illustrate what changes if one considers a spectral triple with a degenerate representation, based on the complex algebra $B_F=\mathbb{C}\oplus M_2(\mathbb{C})\oplus M_3(\mathbb{C})$.

Sigma-model solitons on noncommutative spaces

We use results from time-frequency analysis and Gabor analysis to construct new classes of sigma-model solitons over the Moyal plane and over noncommutative tori, taken as source spaces, with a target space made of two points. A natural action functional leads to self-duality equations for projections in the source algebra. Solutions, having non-trivial topological content, are constructed via suitable Morita duality bimodules.

Equivariant Join and Fusion of Noncommutative Algebras

We translate the concept of the join of topological spaces to the language of $C^*$-algebras, replace the $C^*$-algebra of functions on the interval $[0,1]$ with evaluation maps at $0$ and $1$ by a unital $C^*$-algebra $C$ with appropriate two surjections, and introduce the notion of the fusion of unital $C^*$-algebras. An appropriate modification of this construction yields the fusion comodule algebra of a comodule algebra $P$ with the coacting Hopf algebra $H$. We prove that, if the comodule algebra $P$ is principal, then so is the fusion comodule algebra. When $C=C([0,1])$ and the two surjections are evaluation maps at $0$ and $1$, this result is a noncommutative-algebraic incarnation of the fact that, for a compact Hausdorff principal $G$-bundle $X$, the diagonal action of $G$ on the join $X*G$ is free.

An Asymmetric Noncommutative Torus

We introduce a family of spectral triples that describe the curved noncommutative two-torus. The relevant family of new Dirac operators is given by rescaling one of two terms in the flat Dirac operator. We compute the dressed scalar curvature and show that the Gauss-Bonnet theorem holds (which is not covered by the general result of Connes and Moscovici).
