Impact of NLO EW and QCD corrections to dimension-6 SMEFT coefficients constraints in Higgs decays

This paper presents the impact of the inclusion of next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD and electroweak (EW) corrections for dimension-6 Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) predictions for the Higgs decays in Higgs couplings measurements at the Large Hadron Collider. Such higher-order corrections will be increasingly important for the precise Higgs and electroweak measurements expected at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). The results are compared with a SMEFT parameterisation employing inputs from a previous ATLAS study, in which the dimension-6 SMEFT contributions are evaluated for each production and decay process at the lowest non-vanishing perturbative QCD order of the corresponding SM process. The effects of the SMEFT NLO QCD/EW contributions to the Higgs decay channels are largest for 2-fermion operators involving the third generation. The sensitivity to the Higgs tri-linear coupling is also explored.

NLO EW and QCD dimension-6 SMEFT results for Higgs and gauge boson decays in POPxf format

We present next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD and electroweak (EW) results using the dimension-6 SMEFT for all 2- and 4- body Higgs decays, for $Z$ and $W$ decays along with the corresponding EW precision observables, and for the Higgstrahlung process $e^+e^-\rightarrow ZH$ at $\sqrt{s}=240$, $365$ and $500$ GeV. The results are presented in the POPxf format for ease of use in experimental and phenomenological studies. Of particular utility is the total Higgs width, including all dimension-6 contributions at NLO. In addition, we present the differential distributions $d\Gamma/dm_{Z*}$ for $H\rightarrow l^+l^- Z^*, Z^*\rightarrow l^+l^-$ at NLO in the SMEFT.

Higgs Decays at NLO in the SMEFT

The calculation of precise predictions for Higgs decays is a necessary ingredient for determining Higgs properties at the LHC and future colliders. We compute all two- and three-body Higgs decays at next-to-leading order (NLO) in both QCD and electroweak interactions using the dimension-6 Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). Results for four-body Higgs decays that are accurate to NLO QCD/electroweak order in the SMEFT are obtained using the narrow width approximation. Our results are contained in a flexible Monte Carlo program, NEWiSH, that is publicly available and we illustrate the impact of the NLO electroweak corrections for HL-LHC, Tera-Z, and Higgstrahlung projections.

Complete NLO SMEFT Electroweak Corrections to Higgs Decays

Precise predictions for Higgs decays are a crucial ingredient of the search for beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics and the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) is a valuable tool for quantifying deviations from the Standard Model (SM). We present the complete set of predictions for the 2- and 3- body Higgs decays at next-to-leading order (NLO), considering QCD and electroweak corrections and including all contributions from the dimension-6 SMEFT operators and with an arbitrary flavor structure. Including the NLO SMEFT results for Higgs decays greatly increases the sensitivity to BSM physics of the $e^+e^-\rightarrow Zh$ process at FCC-ee, as compared with that obtained using only the total cross section.

Probing Top Quark-Electron Interactions at Future Colliders

Top quark interactions offer a window into possible new high scale physics and many models of new physics predict that the top quark interactions will deviate significantly from those predicted by the Standard Model (SM). We present an analysis of the experimental restrictions on anomalous 4-fermion $e^+e^- t {\overline{t}}$ operators that is accurate to next-to-leading order (NLO) in both the electroweak and QCD interactions within the Standard Model Effective Field Theory framework. At NLO, there is sensitivity to an extended set of anomalous interactions beyond those probed at leading order. A comparison of current limits from electroweak precision observables, along with expected future limits from Drell-Yan and $t{\overline{t}}e^+e^-$ production at the high luminosity LHC, from deep inelastic scattering at the EIC, and from projected sensitivities at the future FCC-ee and CEPC machines demonstrates that each of these programs extends the precision understanding of the interactions of top quarks.

Renormalising the Field-Space Geometry

We present a systematic study of one-loop quantum corrections in scalar effective field theories from a geometric viewpoint, emphasizing the role of field-space curvature and its renormalisation. By treating the scalar fields as coordinates on a Riemannian manifold, we exploit field redefinition invariance to maintain manifest coordinate independence of physical observables. Focusing on the non-linear sigma model (NLSM) and \(\phi^4\) theory, we demonstrate how loop corrections induce momentum- and scale-dependent shifts in the curvature of the field-space manifold. These corrections can be elegantly captured through the recently proposed geometry-kinematics duality, which generalizes the colour-kinematics duality in gauge theories to curved field-space backgrounds. Our results highlight a universal structure emerging in the contractions of Riemann tensors that contribute to renormalisation of the field-space curvature. In particular, we find explicit expressions and a universal structure for the running curvature and Ricci scalar in simple models, illustrating how quantum effects reshape the underlying geometry. This geometric formulation unifies a broad class of scalar EFTs, providing insight into the interplay of curvature, scattering amplitudes, and renormalisation.

The Importance of Flavor in SMEFT Electroweak Precision Fits

Effective field theory tools are essential for exploring non-Standard Model physics at the LHC in the absence of the discovery of new light particles. Predictions for observables are typically made at the lowest order in the QCD and electroweak expansions in the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) and often ignore the effects of flavor. Here, we present results for electroweak precision observables (EWPOs)at the next-to-leading order QCD and electroweak expansions (NLO) of the SMEFT with an arbitrary flavor structure for the fermion operators. Numerical NLO SMEFT fits toEWPOs have a strong dependence on the assumed flavor structures and we demonstrate this using various popular assumptions for flavor symmetries.

Gluon Fusion Production at NLO: Merging the Transverse Momentum and the High-Energy Expansions

The virtual corrections to $gg\to HH$ and $gg\to ZH$ are analytically evaluated combining an expansion in the small transverse momentum of the final particles with an expansion valid at high energies. The two expansion methods describe complementary regions of the phase space and we merge their results, extending the range of validity of both expansions using Padé approximants. We show that this approach can reproduce the available numerical results retaining the exact top quark mass dependence with an accuracy well below the 1% level. Our results allow a fast and flexible evaluation of the virtual corrections of the considered processes. Furthermore, they are available in different renormalisation schemes of the top quark mass.
