Three wave interaction solitons for an energy critical Schr\"odinger system

We investigate standing waves for the energy critical Schr\"odinger system with three waves interaction arising as a model for the Raman amplification in a plasma. Several results are proved: simultaneous existence of stable and unstable standing waves, existence of global solutions, and absence of small data scattering. Our main results show some specific features arising from the three waves interaction differently from the classical energy critical Schr\"odinger equation, and they support some experimental observations on Raman amplification.

NLS with mass-subcritical combined nonlinearities: small mass $L^2$-scattering

We prove small data scattering in the mass-subcritical regime for the NLS equation with double nonlinearities, where a focusing leading term is perturbed by a lower order defocusing nonlinear term. Our proof relies on the pseudo-conformal transformation in conjunction with a general variational argument used to obtain the positivity of certain modified energies. Moreover, the smallness assumption is only on the mass of the initial data, and not on the whole $\Sigma$-norm.

Mass-subcritical Half-Wave Equation with mixed nonlinearities: existence and non-existence of ground states

We consider the problem of existence of constrained minimizers for the focusing mass-subcritical Half-Wave equation with a defocusing mass-subcritical perturbation. We show the existence of a critical mass such that minimizers do exist for any mass larger than or equal to the critical one, and do not exist below it. At the dynamical level, in the one dimensional case, we show that the ground states are orbitally stable.

Local well-posedness and blow-up in the energy space for the 2D NLS with point interaction

We consider the two-dimensional nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with point interaction and we establish a local well-posedness theory, including blow-up alternative and continuous dependence on the initial data in the energy space. We provide a proof by employing a Kato's method along with Hardy inequalities with logarithmic correction. Moreover, we establish finite time blow-up for solutions with positive energy and infinite variance.

Solitons, scattering and blow-up for the nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with combined power-type nonlinearities on $\mathbb{R}^d\times\mathbb{T}$

We investigate the long time dynamics of the nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation (NLS) with combined powers on the waveguide manifold $\mathbb{R}^d\times\mathbb{T}$. Different from the previously studied NLS-models with single power on the waveguide manifolds, where the non-scale-invariance is mainly due to the mixed nature of the underlying domain, the non-scale-invariance of the present model is both geometrical and structural. By considering different combinations of the nonlinearities, we establish both qualitative and quantitative properties of the soliton, scattering and blow-up solutions. As one of the main novelties of the paper compared to the previous results for the NLS with single power, we particularly construct two different rescaled families of variational problems, which leads to an NLS with single power in different limiting profiles respectively, to establish the periodic dependence results.

Invariant Gibbs dynamics for two-dimensional fractional wave equations in negative Sobolev spaces

We consider a fractional nonlinear wave equations (fNLW) with a general power-type nonlinearity, on the two-dimensional torus. Our main goal is to construct invariant global-in-time Gibbs dynamics for a renormalized fNLW. We first construct the Gibbs measure associated with this equation by using the variational approach of Barashkov and Gubinelli. We then prove almost sure local well-posedness with respect to Gibbsian initial data, by exploiting the second order expansion. Finally, we extend solutions globally in time using Bourgain's invariant measure argument.

Standing waves for a Schr\"odinger system with three waves interaction

We study standing waves for a system of nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations with three waves interaction arising as a model for the Raman amplification in a plasma. We consider the mass-critical and mass-supercritical regimes, and we prove existence of ground states along with a synchronized mass collapse behavior. In addition, we show that the set of ground states is stable under the associated Cauchy flow. Furthermore, in the mass-supercritical setting we construct an excited state that corresponds to a strongly unstable standing wave. Moreover, a semi-trivial limiting behavior of the excited state is drawn accurately. Finally, by a refined control of the excited state's energy, we give sufficient conditions to prove global existence or blow-up of solutions to the corresponding Cauchy problem.

Scattering for non-radial 3D NLS with combined nonlinearities: the interaction Morawetz approach

We give a new proof of the scattering below the ground state energy level for a class of nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations (NLS) with mass-energy intercritical competing nonlinearities. Specifically, the NLS has a focusing leading order nonlinearity with a defocusing perturbation. Our strategy combines interaction Morawetz estimates \`a la Dodson-Murphy and a new crucial bound for the Pohozaev functional of localized functions, which is essential to overcome the lack of a monotonicity condition. Furthermore, we give the rate of blow-up for symmetric solutions.

On finite time blow-up for a 3D Davey-Stewartson system

We consider the elliptic-elliptic Davey-Stewartson system in the three-dimensional Euclidean space, and we give sufficient conditions for the existence of finite time blow-up solutions in non-isotropic spaces. The proof is based on some general results on distributions defined via homogeneous symbols, in conjunction with a convexity argument.

Dynamics of solutions to the Gross-Pitaevskii equation describing dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates

We review some recent results on the long time dynamics of solutions to the Gross-Pitaevskii equation governing non-trapped dipolar Quantum Gases. We describe the asymptotic behaviours of solutions for different initial configurations of the initial datum in the energy space, specifically for data below, above, and at the Mass-Energy threshold. We revisit some properties of powers of the Riesz transforms by means of the decay properties of the heat kernel associated to the parabolic biharmonic equation. These decay properties play a fundamental tool to establish the dynamical features of the solutions to the equation.

Ground state energy threshold and blow-up for NLS with competing nonlinearities

We consider the nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with combined nonlinearities, where the leading term is an intracritical focusing power-type nonlinearity, and the perturbation is given by a power-type defocusing one. We completely answer the question wether the ground state energy, which is a threshold between global existence and formation of singularities, is achieved. For any prescribed mass, for mass-supercritical or mass-critical defocusing perturbations, the ground state energy is achieved by a radially symmetric and decreasing solution to the associated stationary equation. For mass-subcritical perturbations, we show the existence of a critical prescribed mass, precisely the mass of the unique, static, positive solution to the associated elliptic equation, such that the ground state energy is achieved for any mass equal or smaller than the critical one. Moreover, the ground state energy is not achieved for mass larger than the critical one. As a byproduct of the variational characterization of the ground state energy, we prove the existence of blowing-up solutions in finite time, for any energy below the ground state energy threshold.

Sharp conditions for scattering and blow-up for a system of NLS arising in optical materials with $\chi^3$ nonlinear response

We study the asymptotic dynamics for solutions to a system of nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations with cubic interactions, arising in nonlinear optics. We provide sharp threshold criteria leading to global well-posedness and scattering of solutions, as well as formation of singularities in finite time for (anisotropic) symmetric initial data. The free asymptotic results are proved by means of Morawetz and interaction Morawetz estimates. The blow-up results are shown by combining variational analysis and an ODE argument, which overcomes the unavailability of the convexity argument based on virial-type identities.

Blow-up results for systems of nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations with quadratic interaction

We establish blow-up results for systems of NLS equations with quadratic interaction in anisotropic spaces. We precisely show finite time blow-up or grow-up for cylindrical symmetric solutions. With our construction, we moreover prove some polynomial lower bounds on the kinetic energy of global solutions in the mass-critical case, which in turn implies grow-up along any diverging time sequence. Our analysis extends to general NLS systems with quadratic interactions, and it also provides improvements of known results in the radial case.

Mass-Energy threshold dynamics for dipolar Quantum Gases

We consider a Gross-Pitaevskii equation which appears as a model in the description of dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates, without a confining external trapping potential. We describe the asymptotic dynamics of solutions to the corresponding Cauchy problem in the energy space in different configurations with respect to the mass-energy threshold, namely for initial data above and at the mass-energy threshold. We first establish a scattering criterion for the equation that we prove by means of the concentration/compactness and rigidity scheme. This criterion enables us to show the energy scattering for solutions with data above the mass-energy threshold, for which only blow-up was known. We also prove a blow-up/grow-up criterion for the equation with general data in the energy space. As a byproduct of scattering and blow-up criteria, and the compactness of minimizing sequences for the Gagliardo-Nirenberg's inequality, we study long time dynamics of solutions with data lying exactly at the mass-energy threshold.

Dynamical collapse of cylindrical symmetric Dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates

We study the formation of singularities for cylindrical symmetric solutions to the Gross-Pitaevskii equation describing a dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate. We prove that solutions arising from initial data with energy below the energy of the Ground State and that do not scatter collapse in finite time. The main tools to prove our result are the variational characterization of the Ground State energy, suitable localized virial identities for cylindrical symmetric functions, and general integral and pointwise estimates for operators involving powers of the Riesz transforms.

Regularity results for rough solutions of the incompressible Euler equations via interpolation methods

Given any solution $u$ of the Euler equations which is assumed to have some regularity in space - in terms of Besov norms, natural in this context - we show by interpolation methods that it enjoys a corresponding regularity in time and that the associated pressure $p$ is twice as regular as $u$. This generalizes a recent result by Isett [16] (see also Colombo and De Rosa [8]), which covers the case of H\"older spaces.

Asymptotic dynamic for dipolar Quantum Gases below the ground state energy threshold

We consider the Gross-Pitaevskii equation describing a dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate without external confinement. We first consider the unstable regime, where the nonlocal nonlinearity is neither positive nor radially symmetric and standing states are known to exist. We prove that under the energy threshold given by the ground state, all global in time solutions behave as free waves asymptotically in time. The ingredients of the proof are variational characterization of the ground states energy, a suitable profile decomposition theorem and localized virial estimates, enabling to carry out a Concentration/Compactness and Rigidity scheme. As a byproduct we show that in the stable regime, where standing states do not exist, any initial data in the energy space scatters.

Local Well-posedness and Blow-up for the Half Ginzburg-Landau-Kuramoto equation with rough coefficients and potential

We study the Cauchy problem for the half Ginzburg-Landau-Kuramoto (hGLK) equation with the second order elliptic operator having rough coefficients and potential type perturbation. The blow-up of solutions for hGLK equation with non-positive nonlinearity is shown by an ODE argument. The key tools in the proof are appropriate commutator estimates and the essential self-adjointness of the symmetric uniformly elliptic operator with rough metric and potential type perturbation.
