Multiple Nonlinear Waves by (Quantum) Neural Networks: Checking the AI supremacy

To test the potential of so-called quantum physics-informed neural network (QPINN) technology for solving evolutionary partial differential equations, we consider the problem of multiple wave propagation in a weakly nonlinear medium described by the Korteweg-de Vries equation with periodic boundary conditions. Although this problem is solvable analytically, high-genus solutions could represent a rather challenging testbed for numerical methods. Therefore, our idea is to test whether a QPINN is sufficiently mature for application in this context by providing a set of indicators of merit and performing several numerical experiments.

Integrability properties and multi-kink solutions of a generalised Fokker-Planck equation

We analyse a generalised Fokker-Planck equation by making essential use of its linearisability through a Cole-Hopf transformation. We determine solutions of travelling wave and multi-kink type by resorting to a geometric construction in the regime of small viscosity. The resulting asymptotic solutions are time-dependent Heaviside step functions representing classical (viscous) shock waves. As a result, line segments in the space of independent variables arise as resonance conditions of exponentials and represent shock trajectories. We then discuss fusion and fission dynamics exhibited by the multi-kinks by drawing parallels in terms of shock collisions and scattering processes between particles, which preserve total mass and momentum. Finally, we propose Bäcklund transformations and examine their action on the solutions to the equation under study.

On solutions to a novel non-evolutionary integrable 1+1 PDE

We investigate real solutions of a C-integrable non-evolutionary partial differential equation in the form of a scalar conservation law where the flux density depends both on the density and on its first derivatives with respect to the local variables. By performing a similarity reduction dictated by one of its local symmetry generators, a nonlinear ordinary differential equation arises that is connected to the Painlevé III equation. Exact solutions are secured and described provided a constraint holds among the coefficients of the original equation. In the most general case, we pinpoint the generation of additional singularities by numerical integration. Then, we discuss the evolution of given initial profiles. Finally, we mention aspects concerning rational solutions with a finite number of poles.

Symmetries and criticality of generalised van der Waals models

We consider a family of thermodynamic models such that the energy density can be expressed as an asymptotic expansion in the scale formal parameter and whose terms are suitable functions of the volume density. We examine the possibility to construct solutions for the Maxwell thermodynamic relations relying on their symmetry properties and deduce the critical properties implied in terms of the the dynamics of coexistence curves in the space of thermodynamic variables.

Identification and time-resolved study of YIG spin wave modes in a MW cavity in strong coupling regime

Recently, the hybridization of microwave-frequency cavity modes with collective spin excitations attracted large interest for the implementation of quantum computation protocols, which exploit the transfer of information among these two physical systems. Here, we investigate the interaction among the magnetization precession modes of a small YIG sphere and the MW electromagnetic modes, resonating in a tridimensional aluminum cavity. In the strong coupling regime, anti-crossing features were observed in correspondence of various magnetostatic modes, which were excited in a magnetically saturated sample. Time-resolved studies show evidence of Rabi oscillations, demonstrating coherent exchange of energy among photons and magnons modes. To facilitate the analysis of the standing spin-wave patterns, we propose here a new procedure, based on the introduction of a novel functional variable. The resulting easier identification of magnetostatic modes can be exploited to investigate, control and compare many-levels hybrid systems in cavity- and opto-magnonics research.

Skyrmion States In Chiral Liquid Crystals

Within the framework of Oseen-Frank theory, we analyse the static configurations for chiral liquid crystals. In particular, we find numerical solutions for localised axisymmetric states in confined chiral liquid crystals with weak homeotropic anchoring at the boundaries. These solutions describe the distortions of two-dimensional skyrmions, known as either \textit{spherulites} or \textit{cholesteric bubbles}, which have been observed experimentally in these systems. Relations with nonlinear integrable equations have been outlined and are used to study asymptotic behaviors of the solutions. By using analytical methods, we build approximated solutions of the equilibrium equations and we analyse the generation and stabilization of these states in relation to the material parameters, the external fields and the anchoring boundary conditions.

Conformally invariant elliptic Liouville equation and its symmetry preserving discretization

The symmetry algebra of the real elliptic Liouville equation is an infinite-dimensional loop algebra with the simple Lie algebra $o(3,1)$ as its maximal finite-dimensional subalgebra. The entire algebra generates the conformal group of the Euclidean plane $E_2$. This infinite-dimensional algebra distinguishes the elliptic Liouville equation from the hyperbolic one with its symmetry algebra that is the direct sum of two Virasoro algebras. Following a discretisation procedure developed earlier, we present a difference scheme that is invariant under the group $O(3,1)$ and has the elliptic Liouville equation in polar coordinates as its continuous limit. The lattice is a solution of an equation invariant under $O(3,1)$ and is itself invariant under a subgroup of $O(3,1)$, namely the $O(2)$ rotations of the Euclidean plane.

Exact partition functions for deformed $\mathcal{N}=2$ theories with $N_{f}=4$ flavours

We consider the $Ω$-deformed $\mathcal{N}=2$ $SU(2)$ gauge theory in four dimensions with $N_{f}=4$ massive fundamental hypermultiplets. The low energy effective action depends on the deformation parameters $\varepsilon_{1}, \varepsilon_{2}$, the scalar field expectation value $a$, and the hypermultiplet masses ${\bf m}=(m_{1}, m_{2}, m_{3}, m_{4})$. Motivated by recent findings in the $\mathcal{N}=2^{*}$ theory, we explore the theories that are characterized by special fixed ratios $\varepsilon_{2}/\varepsilon_{1}$ and ${\bf m}/\varepsilon_{1}$ and propose a simple condition on the structure of the multi-instanton contributions to the prepotential determining the effective action. This condition determines a finite set $Π_{N}$ of special points such that the prepotential has $N$ poles at fixed positions independent on the instanton number. In analogy with what happens in the $\mathcal{N}=2^{*}$ gauge theory, the full prepotential of the $Π_{N}$ theories may be given in closed form as an explicit function of $a$ and the modular parameter $q$ appearing in special combinations of Eisenstein series and Jacobi theta functions with well defined modular properties. The resulting finite pole partition functions are related by AGT correspondence to special 4-point spherical conformal blocks of the Virasoro algebra. We examine in full details special cases where the closed expression of the block is known and confirms our Ansatz. We systematically study the special features of Zamolodchikov's recursion for the $Π_{N}$ conformal blocks. As a result, we provide a novel effective recursion relation that can be exactly solved and allows to prove the conjectured closed expressions analytically in the case of the $Π_{1}$ and $Π_{2}$ conformal blocks.

On immersion formulas for soliton surfaces

This paper is devoted to a study of the connections between three different analytic descriptions for the immersion functions of 2D-surfaces corresponding to the following three types of symmetries: gauge symmetries of the linear spectral problem, conformal transformations in the spectral parameter and generalized symmetries of the associated integrable system. After a brief exposition of the theory of soliton surfaces and of the main tool used to study classical and generalized Lie symmetries, we derive the necessary and sufficient conditions under which the immersion formulas associated with these symmetries are linked by gauge transformations. We illustrate the theoretical results by examples involving the sigma model.

Structure Preserving Discretizations of the Liouville Equation and their Numerical Tests

The main purpose of this article is to show how symmetry structures in partial differential equations can be preserved in a discrete world and reflected in difference schemes. Three different structure preserving discretizations of the Liouville equation are presented and then used to solve specific boundary value problems. The results are compared with exact solutions satisfying the same boundary conditions. All three discretizations are on four point lattices. One preserves linearizability of the equation, another the infinite-dimensional symmetry group as higher symmetries, the third one preserves the maximal finite-dimensional subgroup of the symmetry group as point symmetries. A 9-point invariant scheme that gives a better approximation of the equation, but significantly worse numerical results for solutions is presented and discussed.

Lie-point symmetries of the discrete Liouville equation

The Liouville equation is well known to be linearizable by a point transformation. It has an infinite dimensional Lie point symmetry algebra isomorphic to a direct sum of two Virasoro algebras. We show that it is not possible to discretize the equation keeping the entire symmetry algebra as point symmetries. We do however construct a difference system approximating the Liouville equation that is invariant under the maximal finite subalgebra $ SL_x \lf 2 , \mathbb{R} \rg \otimes SL_y \lf 2 , \mathbb{R} \rg $. The invariant scheme is an explicit one and provides a much better approximation of exact solutions than comparable standard (non invariant) schemes.

Dynamics in the magnetic/dual magnetic monopole

Inspired by the geometrical methods allowing the introduction of mechanical systems confined in the plane and endowed with exotic galilean symmetry, we resort to the Lagrange-Souriau 2-form formalism, in order to look for a wide class of 3D systems, involving not commuting and/or not canonical variables, but possessing geometric as well gauge symmetries in position and momenta space too. As a paradigmatic example, a charged particle simultaneously interacting with a magnetic monopole and a dual monopole in momenta space is considered. The main features of the motions, conservation laws and the analogies with the planar case are discussed. Possible physical realizations of the model are proposed.

Non-commutative mechanics and Exotic Galilean symmetry

In order to derive a large set of Hamiltonian dynamical systems, but with only first order Lagrangian, we resort to the formulation in terms of Lagrange-Souriau 2-form formalism. A wide class of systems derived in different phenomenological contexts are covered. The non-commutativity of the particle position coordinates are a natural consequence. Some explicit examples are considered.

Topologically ordered phase states: from knots and braids to quantum dimers

We consider universal statistical properties of systems that are characterized by phase states with macroscopic degeneracy of the ground state. A possible topological order in such systems is described by non-linear discrete equations. We focus on the discrete equations which take place in the case of generalized exclusion principle statistics. We show that their exact solutions are quantum dimensions of the irreducible representations of certain quantum group. These solutions provide an example of the point where the generalized exclusion principle statistics and braid statistics meet each other. We propose a procedure to construct the quantum dimer models by means of projection of the knotted field configurations that involved braiding features of one-dimensional topology.

Hartree-Fock Approximation and Entanglement

The relation between the correlation energy and the entanglement is analytically constructed for the Moshinsky's model of two coupled harmonic oscillators. It turns out that the two quantities are far to be proportional, even at very small couplings. A comparison is made also with the 2-point Ising model.

A critical theory of quantum entanglement for the Hydrogen molecule

In this paper we investigate some entanglement properties for the Hydrogen molecule considered as a two interacting spin 1/2 (qubit) model. The entanglement related to the $H_{2}$ molecule is evaluated both using the von Neumann entropy and the Concurrence and it is compared with the corresponding quantities for the two interacting spin system. Many aspects of these functions are examinated employing in part analytical and, essentially, numerical techniques. We have compared analogous results obtained by Huang and Kais a few years ago. In this respect, some possible controversial situations are presented and discussed.

Entanglement of electrons in interacting molecules

Quantum entanglement is a concept commonly used with reference to the existence of certain correlations in quantum systems that have no classical interpretation. It is a useful resource to enhance the mutual information of memory channels or to accelerate some quantum processes as, for example, the factorization in Shor's Algorithm. Moreover, entanglement is a physical observable directly measured by the von Neumann entropy of the system. We have used this concept in order to give a physical meaning to the electron correlation energy in systems of interacting electrons. The electronic correlation is not directly observable, since it is defined as the difference between the exact ground state energy of the many--electrons Schroedinger equation and the Hartree--Fock energy. We have calculated the correlation energy and compared with the entanglement, as functions of the nucleus--nucleus separation using, for the hydrogen molecule, the Configuration Interaction method. Then, in the same spirit, we have analyzed a dimer of ethylene, which represents the simplest organic conjugate system, changing the relative orientation and distance of the molecules, in order to obtain the configuration corresponding to maximum entanglement.
