Minimal non-universal EW extensions of the Standard Model: a chiral multi-parameter solution

We report the most general expression for the chiral charges of a non-universal $U(1)'$ with identical charges for the first two families but different charges for the third one. The model is minimal in the sense that only standard model fermions plus right-handed neutrinos are required. By imposing anomaly cancellation and constraints coming from Yukawa couplings we obtain two different solutions. In one of these solutions, the anomalies cancel between fermions in different families. These solutions depend on four independent parameters which result very useful for model building. We build different benchmark models in order to show the flexibility of the parameterization. We also report LHC and low energy constraints for these benchmark models.

Minimal flavour violation extensions of the seesaw

We analyze the most natural formulations of the minimal lepton flavour violation hypothesis compatible with a type-I seesaw structure with three heavy singlet neutrinos N, and satisfying the requirement of being predictive, in the sense that all LFV effects can be expressed in terms of low energy observables. We find a new interesting realization based on the flavour group $SU(3)_e\times SU(3)_{\ell+N}$ (being $e$ and $\ell$ respectively the SU(2) singlet and doublet leptons). An intriguing feature of this realization is that, in the normal hierarchy scenario for neutrino masses, it allows for sizeable enhancements of $μ\to e$ transitions with respect to LFV processes involving the $τ$ lepton. We also discuss how the symmetries of the type-I seesaw allow for a strong suppression of the N mass scale with respect to the scale of lepton number breaking, without implying a similar suppression for possible mechanisms of N production

Purely Flavored Leptogenesis at the TeV Scale

I study variations of the standard leptogenesis scenario that can arise if an additional mass scale related to the breaking of some new symmetry is present below the mass $M_{N_1}$ of the lightest right-handed Majorana neutrino. I present a particular realization of this scheme that allows for leptogenesis at the TeV scale. In this realization the baryon asymmetry is exclusively due to flavor effects.

Implications of an additional scale on leptogenesis

We consider variations of the standard leptogenesis picture arising from the presence of an additional scale related to the breaking of a $U(1)_X$ abelian flavor symmetry. We show that quite generically the presence of an additional energy scale might introduce new qualitative and quantitative changes on leptogenesis. Especially interesting is the possibility of having succesful TeV leptogenesis with a vanishing total CP violating asymmetry. By solving the corresponding Boltzmann equations it is shown that these kind of scenarios encounters no difficulties in generating the Cosmic baryon asymmetry.

Purely Flavored Leptogenesis

We study a model for leptogenesis in which the total CP asymmetries in the decays and scatterings involving the SU(2) singlet seesaw neutrinos $N_α$ vanish ($ε_{N_α}=0$). Leptogenesis is possible due to non-vanishing CP violating lepton flavor asymmetries, realizing a situation in which the baryon asymmetry is due exclusively to flavor effects. We study the production of a net lepton asymmetry by solving the Boltzmann equations specific to this model, and we show that successful leptogenesis can be obtained at a scale as low as the TeV. We also discuss constraints on the model parameter space arising from current experimental upper limits on lepton flavor violating decays.
