On sign-changeable interaction in FLRW cosmology

We investigate an interacting two-fluid model in a spatially flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) Universe, when the energy transfer between these two dark components is produced by a factorisable nonlinear sign-changeable interaction depending linearly on the energy density and quadratically on the deceleration parameter. We solve the source equation and obtain the effective energy densities of the dark sector and their components. We show that the effective equation of state of the dark sector includes some of the several kind of Chaplygin gas equations of state as well as a generalization of the polytropic equation of state. We use bayesian statistics methods to constrain free parameters in the models during its most recent evolution considering supernovae type Ia and measurements of the Hubble expansion rate. The resulting constraints provide new information on sign-changeable interactions, its equivalences and compatibility with previous models and novel late time universe dynamics.

Finite time future singularities in the interacting dark sector

We construct a piecewise model that gives a physical viable realization of finite-time future singularity for a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe within the interacting dark matter--dark energy framework, with the latter one in the form of a variable vacuum energy. The scale factor solutions provided by the model are accommodated in several branches defined in four regions delimited by the scale factor and the effective energy density. A branch starts from a big bang singularity and describes an expanding matter-dominated universe until the sudden future singularity occurs. Then, an expanding branch emerges from a past singularity, reaches a maximum, reverses its expansion and possibly collapses into itself while another expanding branch emerges from the latter singularity and has a stable de Sitter phase which is intrinsically stable. We obtain a different piecewise scale factor which describes a contracting de Sitter universe in the distant past until the finite-time future singularity happens. It emerges and continues in a contracting phase, bounces at the minimum, reverses, and enters into a stable de Sitter phase without a dramatic final. Also, we explore the aforesaid cosmic scenarios by focusing on the leading contributions of some physical quantities near the sudden future singularity and applying the geometric Tipler and Królak criteria in order to inspect the behavior of timelike geodesic curves around such singularity.

Big brake singularity is accommodated as an exotic quintessence field

We describe a big brake singularity in terms of a modified Chaplygin gas equation of state $p=(\ga_{m}-1)ρ+\al\ga_{m}ρ^{-n}$, accommodate this late-time event as an exotic quintessence model obtained from an energy-momentum tensor, and focus on the cosmological behavior of the exotic field, its kinetic energy and the potential energy. At the background level, the exotic field does not blow up whereas its kinetic energy and potential both grow without limit near the future singularity. We evaluate the classical stability of this background solution by examining the scalar perturbations of the metric along with the inclusion of entropy perturbation in the perturbed pressure. Within the Newtonian gauge, the gravitational field approaches a constant near the singularity plus additional regular terms. When the perturbed exotic field is associated with $\al>0$ the perturbed pressure and contrast density both diverge, whereas the perturbed exotic field and the divergence of the exotic field's velocity go to zero exponentially. When the perturbed exotic field is associated with $\al<0$ the contrast density always blows up, but the perturbed pressure can remain bounded. In addition, the perturbed exotic field and the divergence of the exotic field's velocity vanish near the big brake singularity. We also briefly look at the behavior of the intrinsic entropy perturbation near the singular event.

Interacting realization of cosmological singularities with variable vacuum energy

We examine an interacting dark matter--variable vacuum energy model for a spatially flat Friedmann-Roberston-Walker spacetime, focusing on the appearance of cosmological singularities such as \emph{big rip, big brake, big freeze}, and \emph{ big separation} along with abrupt events (\emph{infinite $γ$- singularity} and \emph{new w-singularity}) at late times. We introduce a phenomenological interaction which has a nonlinear dependence on the total energy density of the dark sector and its derivative, solve exactly the source equation for the model and find the energy density as function of the scale factor as well as the time dependence of the approximate scale factor in the neighborhood of the singularities. We describe the main characteristics of these singularities by exploring the type of interaction that makes them possible along with behavior of dark components near them. We apply the geometric Tipler and Królak method for determining the fate of time-like geodesic curves around the singularities. We also explore the strength of them by analyzing the leading term in some geometric invariants such as the square Riemann scalar and the Ricci scalar.

Interacting dark sector with transversal interaction

We investigate the interacting dark sector composed of dark matter, dark energy, and dark radiation for a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) background by introducing a three-dimensional internal space spanned by the interaction vector $\mathbf{Q}$ and solve the source equation for a linear transversal interaction. Then, we explore a realistic model with dark matter coupled to a scalar field plus a decoupled radiation term, analyze the amount of dark energy in the radiation era and find that our model is consistent with the recent measurements of cosmic microwave background anisotropy coming from Planck along with the future constraints achievable by CMBPol experiment.

Interacting dark sector with variable vacuum energy

We examine a cosmological scenario where dark matter is coupled to a variable vacuum energy while baryons and photons are two decoupled components for a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker spacetime. We apply the $χ^{2}$ method to the updated observational Hubble data for constraining the cosmological parameters and analyze the amount of dark energy in the radiation era. We show that our model fulfills the severe bound of $Ω_{x}(z\simeq 1100)<0.009$ at the $2σ$ level, so it is consistent with the recent analysis that includes cosmic microwave background anisotropy measurements from the Planck survey, the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, and the South Pole Telescope along with the future constraints achievable by the Euclid and CMBPol experiments, and fulfills the stringent bound $Ω_{x}(z\simeq 10^{10})<0.04$ at the $2σ$ level in the big-bang nucleosynthesis epoch.

Nonbaryonic dark matter and scalar field coupled with a transversal interaction plus decoupled radiation

We analyze a universe filled with interacting dark matter, a scalar field accommodated as dark radiation along with dark energy plus a decoupled radiation term within the framework of spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) spacetime. We work in a three-dimensional internal space spanned by the interaction vector and use a transversal interaction $\mathbf{Q_t}$ for solving the source equation in order to find all the interacting component energy densities. We asymptotically reconstruct the scalar field and potential from an early radiation era to the late dominate dark energy one, passing through an intermediate epoch dominated by dark matter. We apply the $χ^{2}$ method to the updated observational Hubble data for constraining the cosmic parameters, contrast with the Union 2 sample of supernovae, and analyze the amount of dark energy in the radiation era. It turns out that our model fulfills the severe bound of $Ω_{\rm ϕ}(z\simeq 1100)<0.018$ at $2σ$ level, is consistent with the recent analysis that includes cosmic microwave background anisotropy measurements from the Atacama Cosmology Telescope and the South Pole Telescope along with the future constraints achievable by Planck and CMBPol experiments, and satisfies the stringent bound $Ω_{\rm ϕ}(z\simeq 10^{10})<0.04$ at $2σ$ level in the big-bang nucleosynthesis epoch.

Dark radiation and dark matter coupled to holographic Ricci dark energy

We investigate a universe filled with interacting dark matter, holographic dark energy, and dark radiation for the spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) spacetime. We use a linear interaction to reconstruct all the component energy densities in terms of the scale factor by directly solving the balance's equations along with the source equation. We apply the $χ^{2}$ method to the observational Hubble data for constraining the cosmic parameters, contrast with the Union 2 sample of supernovae, and analyze the amount of dark energy in the radiation era. It turns out that our model exhibits an excess of dark energy in the recombination era whereas the stringent bound $Ω_{\rm x}(z\simeq 10^{10})<0.21$ at big-bang nucleosynthesis is fulfilled. We find that the interaction provides a physical mechanism for alleviating the triple cosmic coincidence and this leads to $Ω_{\rm m0}/Ω_{\rm x0} \simeq Ω_{\rm r0}/Ω_{\rm x0} \simeq {\cal O}(1)$.

Modified holographic Ricci dark energy coupled to interacting dark matter and a non interacting baryonic component

We examine a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe filled with interacting dark matter, modified holographic Ricci dark energy (MHRDE), and a decoupled baryonic component. The estimations of the cosmic parameters with Hubble data lead to an age of the universe of $13.17 {\rm Gyr}$ and show that the MHRDE is free from the cosmic-age problem at low redshift ($0 \leq z \leq 2$) in contrast to holographic Ricci dark energy (HRDE) case. We constrain the parameters with the Union2 data set and contrast with the Hubble data. We also study the behavior of dark energy at early times by taking into account the severe bounds found at recombination era and/or at big bang nucleosynthesis. The inclusion of a non interacting baryonic matter forces that the amount of dark energy at $z_{t} \sim {\cal O}(1)$ changes abruptly implying that $Ω_x (z\simeq 1100) =0.03$, so the bounds reported by the forecast of Planck and CMBPol experiments are more favored for the MHRDE model than in the case of HRDE cutoff. For the former model, we also obtain that at high redshift the fraction of dark energy varies from 0.006 to 0.002, then the amount of $Ω_x $ at the big bang nucleosynthesis era does not disturb the observed Helium abundance in the universe provided that the bound $Ω_{x}(z\simeq 10^{10})<0.21$ is hold.

Self-interacting holographic dark energy

We investigate a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe where dark matter exchanges energy with a self-interacting holographic dark energy (SIHDE). Using the $χ^2$--statistical method on the Hubble function, we obtain a critical redshift that seems to be consistent with both BAO and CMB data. We calculate the theoretical distance modulus for confronting with the observational data of SNe Ia for small redshift $z\leq 0.1$ and large redshift $0.1 \leq z\leq 1.5$. The model gets accelerate faster than the $Λ$CDM one and it can be a good candidate to alleviate the coincidence problem. We also examine the age crisis at high redshift associated with the old quasar APM 08279+5255.

Form invariance symmetry generates a large set of FRW cosmologies

We show that Einstein's field equations for spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) space times have a form invariance symmetry (FIS) realized by the form invariance transformations (FIT) which are indeed generated by an invertible function of the source energy density. These transformations act on the Hubble expansion rate, the energy density, and pressure of the cosmic fluid; likewise such transformations are endowed with a Lie group structure. Each representation of this group is associated with a particular fluid and consequently a determined cosmology, so that, the FIS defines a set of equivalent cosmological models. We focus our seek in the FIT generated by a linear function because it provides a natural framework to express the duality and also produces a large sets of cosmologies, starting from a seed one, in several contexts as for instance in the cases of a perfect fluid source and a scalar field driven by a potential depending linearly on the scalar field kinetic energy density.

Dark matter, dark energy, and dark radiation coupled with a transversal interaction

We investigate a cosmological scenario with three interacting components that includes dark matter, dark energy, and radiation in the spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. We introduce a 3-dimensional internal space, the interaction vector $\mathbf{Q}=(Q_{x}, Q_{m}, Q_{r})$ satisfying the constraint plane $Q_{x}+ Q_{m}+ Q_{r}=0$, the barotropic index vector $ \boldmath $γ$=(\ga_x,\ga_m,\ga_r)$ and select a transversal interaction vector $\mathbf{Q_t}$ in a sense that $\mathbf{Q_t}\cdot \boldmath $γ$=0$. We exactly solve the source equation for a linear $\mathbf{Q_t}$, that depends on the total energy density and its derivatives up to third order, and find all the component energy densities. We obtain a large set of interactions for which the source equation admits a power law solution and show its asymptotic stability by constructing the Lyapunov function. We apply the $χ^{2}$ method to the observational Hubble data for constraining the cosmic parameters, and analyze the amount of dark energy in the radiation era for the above linear $\mathbf{Q_t}$. It turns to be that our model fulfills the severe bound of $Ω_{x}(z\simeq 1100)<0.1$ and is consistent with the future constraints achievable by Planck and CMBPol experiments.

Evolution of a universe filled with a causal viscous fluid

The behaviour of solutions to the Einstein equations with a causal viscous fluid source is investigated. In this model we consider a spatially flat Robertson-Walker metric, the bulk viscosity coefficient is related to the energy density as $ζ= αρ^{m}$, and the relaxation time is given by $ζ/ρ$. In the case $m = 1/2$ we find the exact solutions and we verify whether they satisfy the energy conditions. Besides, we study analytically the asymptotic stability of several families of solutions for arbitrary $m$. We find that the qualitative asymptotic behaviour in the far future is not altered by relaxation processes, but they change the behaviour in the past, introducing singular instead of deflationary evolutions or making the Universe bounce due to the violation of the energy conditions.

Exact self-interacting scalar field cosmologies

We solve isotropic, homogeneous cosmological models containing a self-interacting scalar field. Calculations are performed in four and two-dimensional spacetimes. We find several exact solutions that have an inflationary regime or has a final Friedmann stage. Also their asymptotically stability is studied.

Cosmological Applications of the Frieden-Soffer Nonextensive Information Transfer Game

We show how the demon of Frieden and Soffer, working in a non-extensive statistical scenario, is able to devise solutions to some of Einstein's field equations by recourse to nonlocal changes of variables between appropriate differential equations. It is seen that a variety of cosmological problems involving Einstein's field equations can be reinterpreted as situations in which the pertinent solution is obtained, with tools of Statistical Mechanics, {\it in a nonextensive Tsallis scenario}.
