Scalable LLM Agent Tool Access in the Cloud

LLM agents increasingly rely on tool calling to act on external systems, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) has quickly become its de facto interface. Operating MCP at cloud scale, however, becomes difficult. On the tool provider side, legacy services are not directly callable through MCP; the rapid protocol development also creates ongoing compatibility cost. On the agent side, the number of accessible tool is limited by the LLM context window and inference overhead; mounting a large tool set increases token usage and inference latency and can reduce task success rate. Moreover, for stateful MCP backends with multiple replicas, preserving session affinity increases client-side complexity. We present a cloud-scale gateway system for MCP service. It breaks the direct-connect model on the data plane and offloads legacy service integration, consolidating incompatible MCP variants, access control, tool recommendation, and session-aware routing to the gateway. Hybrid retrieval sustains 98% Top-15 recall; it scales agent tool access to 3,000+ with high tool selection accuracy, and reduces tool selection time by $8.9\times$ and token usage by $23.8\times$, with low per-call overhead, stable under scale-out. Finally, we share the lessons learned from deploying the gateway system in production.

Phonon-Dominated Thermal Transport and Large Violation of the Wiedemann-Franz Law in Topological Semimetal CoSi

The Wiedemann-Franz (WF) law, relating the electronic thermal conductivity ($\kappa_{\rm e}$) to the electrical conductivity, is vital in numerous applications such as in the design of thermoelectric materials and in the experimental determination of the lattice thermal conductivity ($\kappa_{\rm L}$). While the WF law is generally robust, violations are frequently observed, typically manifesting in a reduced Lorenz number ($L$) relative to the Sommerfeld value ($L_0$) due to inelastic scattering. Here, we report a pronounced departure from the WF law in the topological semimetal CoSi, where the electronic Lorenz number ($L_{\rm e}$) instead rises up to $\sim40\%$ above $L_0$. We demonstrate that this anomaly arises from strong bipolar diffusive transport, enabled by topological band-induced electron-hole compensation, which allows electrons and holes to flow cooperatively and additively enhance the heat current. Concurrently, we unveil that the lattice contribution to thermal conductivity is anomalously large and becomes the dominant component below room temperature. As a result, if $\kappa_{\rm L}$ is assumed negligible -- as conventional in metals, the resulting $L$ from the total thermal conductivity ($\kappa_{\rm tot}=\kappa_{\rm L}+\kappa_{\rm e}$) deviates from $L_0$ by more than a factor of three. Our work provides deeper insight into the unconventional thermal transport physics in topological semimetals.

Electrical and thermal transport properties of kagome metals $A$Ti$_3$Bi$_5$ ($A$ = Rb, Cs)

We report electrical and thermal transport properties of single crystalline kagome metals $A$Ti$_3$Bi$_5$ ($A$ = Rb, Cs). Different from the structural similar kagome superconductors $A$V$_3$Sb$_5$, no charge density wave instabilities are found in $A$Ti$_3$Bi$_5$. At low temperatures below 5 K, signatures of superconductivity appear in $A$Ti$_3$Bi$_5$ as seen in magnetization measurements. However, bulk superconductivity is not evidenced by specific heat results. Similar to $A$V$_3$Sb$_5$, $A$Ti$_3$Bi$_5$ show nonlinear magnetic field dependence of the Hall effect below about 70 K, pointing to a multiband nature. Unlike $A$V$_3$Sb$_5$ in which phonons and electron-phonon coupling play important roles in thermal transport, the thermal conductivity in $A$Ti$_3$Bi$_5$ is dominated by electronic contributions. Moreover, our calculated electronic structure suggests that van Hove singularities are sitting well above the Fermi energy. Compared with $A$V$_3$Sb$_5$, the absence of charge orders in $A$Ti$_3$Bi$_5$ is closely associated with minor contributions from electron-phonon coupling and/or van Hove singularities.
