Does nonorthogonality necessarily imply nonmaximal entanglement ?

We show that bipartite entanglements involving non-orthogonal states are {\it necessarily nonmaximally} entangled, however {\it small} the non-orthogonality may be. How the deviation from maximal entanglement is related to nonorthogonality is quantified by using two independent measures of entanglement corresponding to the violation of Bell's inequality and the entropy measure respectively. This result is true even if one of the subsystems has orthogonal states. An application of this is that a maximal violation of Bell's inequality in entangled neutral kaons is not possible in the presence of CP violation.

Can Science `explain' Consciousness ?

Consciousness is the process by which one attributes `meaning' to the world. Considering F$ϕ$llesdal's definition of `meaning' as the joint product of all `evidence' that is available to those who `communicate', we conclude that science can, not only reduce all the {\em evidence} to a Basic Entity (we call BE), but also can `explain' consciousness once a suitable definition for {\em communication} is found that exploits the quantum superposition principle to incorporate the fuzzyness of our experience. Consciousness may be beyond `computability', but it is not beyond `communicability'.

CP Violation in EPR-like neutrino oscillations

After reviewing the general framework to study EPR-like neutrino oscillations, we derive expressions for the oscillation probabilities and a direct measure of CP violation. We compare the possibility of studying CP violation in this case with that of baseline accelerator experiments and conclude that it is possible to study CP violation in experiments with length scales comparable to that of short baseline accelerator experiments.
