Publication Trend in DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology during 2013-2017: A Scientometric Approach

DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology (DJLIT) formerly known as DESIDOC Bulletin of Information Technology is a peer-reviewed, open access, bimonthly journal. This paper presents a Scientometric analysis of the DESIDOC Journal. The paper analyses the pattern of growth of the research output published in the journal, pattern of authorship, author productivity, and, subjects covered to the papers over the period (2013-2017). It is found that 227 papers were published during the period of study (2001-2012). The maximum numbers of articles were collaborative in nature. The subject concentration of the journal noted is Scientometrics. The maximum numbers of articles (65%) have ranged their thought contents between 6 and 10 pages. The study applied standard formula and statistical tools to bring out the factual result.

A Study on Library Resources with Services Satisfaction based on Library Users Affiliated Colleges to Solapur University

The main aim of this study was to assess and evaluate user satisfaction with library resources and services among library users associated with Solapur University. The current research shows the level of users satisfaction with different library resources and services offered by college libraries. The research found that a vast number of respondents were pleased with library facilities and services. The research is designed to achieve users satisfaction in the library to investigate the level of satisfaction towards library resources and services with regards to 26 colleges of Solapur University based in Maharashtra. Information in the form of data has been collected from colleges and on the basis of users results; analysis needs to analyze users satisfaction.

Russian Contribution to Coronary Artery Disease Research: A Scientometric Mapping of Publications

The present study attempts to highlight the research output generated in Russia in coronary artery disease (CAD) research during the period 1990-2019 to understand the distribution of research output, top journals for publications, and most prolific authors, authorship pattern, and citation pattern. This study is based on secondary data extracted from the Science Citation Index (SCI), which is an integral component of the Web of Science. Descriptive and inferential statistical techniques were applied in the study. There were 5058 articles by Russian scholars in coronary artery disease during 1990-2019; they preferred to publish in Russian journals. The research contributions were in the form of research articles, meeting abstracts and reviews with a consistent drop in the number of editorial material and article; proceedings paper with time. Co-authorship was the norm in coronary artery disease research, with a steady increase in the number of multi-author documents in recent years.

Research Output on Alopecia Areata Disease: A Scientometric Analysis of Publications from 2010 to 2019

The present study is undertaken to find out the publication trends on Alopecia Areata Disease during 2010-2019 from the global perspective. The study mainly focus on distribution of research output, top journals for publications, most prolific authors, authorship pattern, and citations pattern on Alopecia Areata Disease. The results indicate that highest growth rate of publications occurred during the year 2019. Columbia University topped the scene among all institutes. The maximum publications were more than four authored publications. Christiano AM and Clynes R were found to be the most prolific authors. It is also found that most of the prolific authors (by number of publications) do appear in highly cited publications list. Alopecia Areata Disease researchers mostly preferred using article publications to communicate their findings.

Impact and Relevance of Cognition Journal in the Field of Cognitive Science: An Evaluation

This study aims to present a scientometric analysis of the journal titled Cognition for a period of 20 years from 1999 to 2018. The present study was conducted with an aim to provide a summary of research activity in current journal and characterize its most aspects. The research coverage includes the year wise distribution of articles, authors, institutions, countries and citation analysis of the journal. The analysis showed that 2870 papers were published in journal of Cognition from 1999 to 2018. The study identified top 20 prolific authors, institutions and countries of the journal. Researchers from USA have been made the most percentage of contributions.

Calculating Web Impact Factor for University Websites of Jammu and Kashmir: A Study

This paper examines and explores the web impact factor through a webometric study of the present 12 University Websites of Jammu and Kashmir. Identifies the domain systems of the websites; analyzes the number of web pages and link pages, and calculates the External Link WIF or simple web impact factor (WIF) and external web impact factor of all the University websites. Also reflects that some university websites have higher number of web pages, but correspondingly their link pages are very small in number and websites fall behind in their simple and external link web impact factor. It found that the Cluster University of Jammu ranked 1 (0.9018) in Internal Link WIF of Websites in Jammu and Kashmir. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University ranked 1 (0.7249) in External Link Web Impact Factor.

Lotka's Law and Authorship Distribution in Coronary Artery Disease Research in South Africa

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a major cause of death and disability in developed countries. Although CAD mortality rates worldwide have declined over the past 4 decades, CAD remains responsible for approximately one-third or more of all deaths in individuals over age 35, and it has been estimated that nearly half of all middle-aged men and one-third of middle aged women in the United States will develop clinical CAD. The present paper attempts to check the applicability of Lotka's Law on South African publication on Coronary artery disease research. The study lights on Lotka's empirical law of scientific productivity, i.e., Inverse Square Law, to measure the scientific productivity of authors, to test Lotka's Exponent value and the K.S test for the fitness of Lotka's Law.

Mapping of Publications Productivity on Journal of Documentation 1989-2018: A Study Based on Clarivate Analytics-Web of Science Database

The Present Study analyzed research productivity in Journal of Documentation (JDoc) for a period of 30 years between 1989 and 2018. Web of Science database a service from Clarivate Analytics has been used to download citation and source data. Bibexcel and Histcite application software have been used to present the datasets. Analysis part focuses on the parameters like citation impact at local and global level, influential authors and their total output, ranking of contributing institutions and countries. In addition to this scientographical mapping of data is presented through graphs using VOSviewer software mapping technique.

Identifying and Mapping the Global Research Output on Coronavirus Disease: A Scientometric Study

The paper explores and analyses the trend of world literature on "Coronavirus Disease" in terms of the output of research publications as indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) of Web of Science during the period from 2011 to 2020. The study found that 6071 research records have been published on Coronavirus Disease till March 20, 2020. The various scientometric components of the research records published in the study period were studied. The study reveals the various aspects of Coronavirus Disease literature such as year wise distribution, relative growth rate, doubling time of literature, geographical wise, organization wise, language wise, form wise , most prolific authors, and source wise. The highest number of articles was published in the year 2019, while lowest numbers of research article were reported in the year 2020. Further, the relative growth rate is gradually increases and on the other hand doubling time decreases. Most of the research publications are published in English language and most of the publications published in the form of research articles. USA is the highest contributor to the field of Coronavirus Disease literature.

Investigating Awareness and usage of Electronic Resources by the Library Users of Selected Colleges of Solapur University

The study investigated the use of electronic resources/information by library users in selected colleges of Solapur University. Specifically, to investigate the awareness and level of use of electronic resources; perceived reliance, benefits and impact of use of electronic resources on the research activities. The research design for the study was a survey. Questionnaire schedule was used to collect data from 1022 library users from selected colleges of Solapur University. The result revealed that preponderance of users from aided 33.51% Self financing 26.10% and Education colleges 43.24 % preferred to visit the Library once in three days. While analyzing the entire college libraries regarding the frequency of visit, users gave first preference to once in three days i.e. 27.2%. College wise analysis reveals that mainstream of users from Aided Colleges 38%, Self financing Colleges 28.3%, Engineering Colleges 43%, Education colleges 53.2% and Pharmacy Colleges 23.4% are spending their time 1-2 hrs in libraries and 40.8%visit college libraries to issue and return books and in the device usage (33.9%) of users ranked mobile phone as the second device for accessing the e-resources. It is noticeable that 24.7% of users acknowledge from Aided Colleges know about the services of the Library from website but in Self Finance Colleges 8.5% and Pharmacy College 56.4% users aware about the services from the friends it is observed that most of the web technologies are not used by the mainstream of the users due to lack of awareness, training etc.

Scholarly Communications of Bharathiar University on Web of Science in Global Perspective: A Scientometric Assessment

Bharathiar University is one of the esteemed university and most vibrant in Tamil Nadu. The University was awarded "A" grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Commission and it has been ranked amongst top 50 Universities in India by the survey taken by the prominent English magazines India Today and The Week in 2013 respectively. The present study has been undertaken to find out the impact of research produced and publication trends of the university during 2009 to 2018. The study merely focuses on year-wise research output, citation impact at local and global level, prominent authors and their total output, top journals of publications, collaborating countries, and most contributing departments of Bharathiar University. The 10 years' publication data of the university indicate that a total of 3440 papers have been published from 2009 to 2018 receiving 38104 citations with h-index as 68. In addition to this scientographical mapping of data is presented through graphs using VOS viewer software mapping technique.

Impact of Web 2.0 Technologies on Academic Libraries: A Survey on Affiliated Colleges of Solapur University

The paper aims to present the results of a survey of academic libraries about the adoption and perceived impact of Web 2.0 technologies. A total of 26 college libraries affiliated with Solapur University participated among the members. It was found that each library was using some form of technology, such as RSS, blogs, social networking sites, wikis, and instant messaging. Analyzing the entire college web technology usages, it is observed from the results that most of the web technologies are not used by the mainstream of the users due to lack of awareness, training, etc. Accurate and appropriate training should be conducted by the colleges' Libraries according to the necessities of the users. Systematic training will inevitably help the user for the maximum utilization of e-resources of the library. The leading web technologies such as internet surfing, emails, search engines, wikis, photo sharing, etc. are used by a great number of users on a daily and weekly basis of frequency. On the other hand majority of the web technologies are never used by a great number of users.

Coronary Artery Disease Research in India: A Scientometric Assessment of Publication during 1990-2019

The present study examined 4698 Indian Coronary Artery Disease research publications, as indexed in Web of Science database during 1990-2019, with a view to understand their growth rate, global share, citation impact, international collaborative papers, distribution of publications by broad subjects, productivity and citation profile of top organizations and authors, and preferred media of communication. The Indian publications registered an annual average growth rate of 11.47%, global share of 1.14%, international collaborative publications share of 38.89% and its citation impact averaged to 25.58 citations per paper. Among broad subjects, Cardiovascular System & Cardiology contributed the largest publications share of 19.14% in Indian coronary artery disease output, followed by Neurosciences & Neurology (14.94%), Pharmacology & Pharmacy (8.51%), etc. during 1990-2019. Among various organizations and authors contributing to Indian coronary artery disease research, the top 20 organizations and top 30 authors together contributed 40.70% and 37.29% respectively as their share of Indian publication output and 38.36% and 33.13% respectively as their share of Indian citation output during 1990-2019. Among 1222 contributing journals in Indian coronary artery disease research, the top 30 journals registered 30.80% share during 1990-2019. There is an urgent need to increase the publication output, improve research quality and improve international collaboration. Indian government also needs to come up with a policy for identification, screening, diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease patients, besides curriculum reform in teaching, capacity building, patient education and political support are badly needed.

Lotka's Law and Pattern of Author Productivity in the Field of Brain Concussion Research: A Scientometric Analysis

The present study deals a scientometric analysis of 8486 bibliometric publications retrieved from the Web of Science database during the period 2008 to 2017. Data is collected and analyzed using Bibexcel software. The study focuses on various aspect of the quantitative research such as growth of papers (year wise), Collaborative Index (CI), Degree of Collaboration (DC), Co-authorship Index (CAI), Collaborative Co-efficient (CC), Modified Collaborative Co-Efficient (MCC), Lotka's Exponent value, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test (K-S Test).

Global Research Trends in the Modern Language Journal from 1999 to 2018: A Data-Driven Analysis

The present study conducts a scientometric study of the Modern Language Journal literature from 1999 to 2018 based on the database of Web of Science, 2018. A total of 2564 items resulted from the publication name using "Modern Language Journal" as the search term. Based on the number of publications during the study period no consistent growth is observed in the research activities pertaining to the journal. The annual distribution of publications, number of authors, institution productivity, country wise publications and Citations are analyzed. Highly productive authors, institutions, and countries are identified. The results reveal that the maximum number of papers 179 is published in the year 1999. It was also observed that Byrnes H is the most productive, contributed 51 publications and Kramsch C is most cited author in the field having 543 global citations. The highest number (38.26%) of publications, contributed from USA and the foremost productive establishment was University of Iowa.

Publication Trend in an Indian Journal and a Pakistan Journal: A Comparative Analysis using Scientometric Approach

Scientometric analysis of 146 and 59 research articles published in Indian journal of Information Sources and Services (IJISS) and Pakistan Journal of Library and Information Science has been carried out. Seven Volumes of the IJISS containing 14 issues and Seven volumes of PJLIS containing 8 issues from 2011 - 2017 have been taken into consideration for the present study. The number of contributions, authorship pattern & author productivity, average citations, average length of articles, average keywords and collaborative papers has been analyzed. Out of 146 of IJISS contributions, only 39 are single authored and rest by multi authored with degree of collaboration 0.73 and week collaboration among the authors and from 59 contributions of PJLIS only 18 are single authored and rest by multi authored with degree of collaboration 0.69 and week collaboration among the authors. The study revealed that the author productivity is 0.53 (IJISS) and 0.50 (PJLIS) and dominated by the Indian and Pakistani authors.
