Radiative corrections to $τ\to π(K) ν_τ[γ]$: a reliable new physics test

The ratios $R_{τ/P}\equiv Γ(τ\to P ν_τ[γ]) / Γ(P \toμν_μ[γ])$ ($P=π, K$) provide sensitive tests of lepton universality $\left|g_τ/g_μ\right|=1$ and are a useful tool for new physics searches. The radiative corrections to $R_{τ/P}$ are computed following a large-$N_C$ expansion to deal with hadronic effects: Chiral Perturbation Theory is enlarged by including the lightest multiplets of spin-one heavy states such that the relevant Green functions are well-behaved at high energies. We find $δR_{τ/π}=(0.18\pm 0.57 )\%$ and $δR_{τ/K}=(0.97\pm 0.58 )\%$, which imply $\left|g_τ/g_μ\right|_π=0.9964\pm 0.0038$ and $\left|g_τ/g_μ\right|_K=0.9857\pm 0.0078$, compatible with and at $1.8σ$ of lepton universality, respectively. We test unitarity and bind non-standard effective interactions with the $τ\to P ν_τ[γ]$ decays.

Flavor-changing decay $h\to τμ$ at super hadron colliders

We study the flavor-changing decay $h\to τμ$ with $τ=τ^-+τ^+$ and $μ=μ^-+μ^+$ of a Higgs boson at future hadron colliders, namely: a) High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider, b) High Energy Large Hadron Collider and c) Future hadron-hadron Circular Collider. The theoretical framework adopted is the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model type III. The free model parameters involved in the calculation are constrained through Higgs boson data, Lepton Flavor Violating processes and the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment; later they are used to analyze the branching ratio of the decay $h\toτμ$ and to evaluate the $gg\to h$ production cross section. We find that at the Large Hadron Collider is not possible to claim for evidence of the decay $h\toτμ$ achieving a signal significance about of $1.46σ$ by considering its final integrated luminosity, 300 fb$^{-1}$. More promising results arise at the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider in which a prediction of 4.6$σ$ when an integrated luminosity of 3 ab$^{-1}$ and $\tanβ=8$ are achieved. Meanwhile, at the High Energy Large Hadron Collider (Future hadron-hadron Circular Collider) a potential discovery could be claimed with a signal significance around $5.04σ$ ($5.43σ$) for an integrated luminosity of 3 ab$^{-1}$ and $\tanβ=8$ (5 ab$^{-1}$ and $\tanβ=4$).

Dark matter in Inert Doublet Model with one scalar singlet and $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry

We study Dark Matter (DM) abundance in the framework of the extension of the Standard Model (SM) with an additional $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry. One complex singlet is included to break the $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry, meanwhile one of the doublets is considered inert to introduce a DM candidate. The stability of the DM candidate is analyzed with a continuous $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry as well as discrete $Z_2$ symmetry. We find allowed regions for the free model parameters which are in agreement with the most up-to-date experimental results reported by CMS and ATLAS collaborations, the upper limit on WIMP-nucleon cross section imposed by XENON1T collaboration and the upper limit on the production cross-section of a $Z^{\prime}$ gauge boson times the branching ratio of the $Z^{\prime}$ boson decaying into $\ell^-\ell^+$. We also obtain allowed regions for the DM candidate mass from the relic density reported by the PLANCK collaboration including light, intermediate and heavy masses; depending mainly on two parameters of the scalar potential, $λ_{2x}$ and $λ_{345}=λ_3+λ_4+2λ_5$. We find that trough $pp\rightarrow χχγ$ production, it may only be possible for a future hadron-hadron Circular Collider (FCC-hh) to be able to detect a DM candidate within the range of masses 10-60 GeV.

Hidden Signals of New Physics within the Yukawa Couplings of the Higgs boson

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has measured the Higgs boson couplings with the heavier particles of the Standard Model (SM), and they seem to lay on a single line as function of the particle mass, as predicted in the SM. However a complete test of this property must involve the lighter generations, and the coming measurements at LHC, or future colliders, may reveal hidden patterns associated with physics beyond the SM. In renormalizable multi-Higgs models, the Higgs-fermion couplings could still be linear, but they could lay on multiple lines. Then, the angle subtended by these lines, with respect to the SM line, can be used to characterize different models, as it is shown here for the Two-Higgs doublet Model (2HDM). Models where fermion masses arise from higher-dimensional operators, may also result in large deviations from the SM values for the Higgs couplings, which would show an irregular pattern as a function of the fermion masses. In the case of neutrino masses, when they arise from the see-saw mechanism, one finds that the Higgs Yukawa couplings will show a non-linear mass relation.

Search for the $t\to ch$ decay at hadron colliders

We study the observability for the flavor-changing decay of a top quark $t\to ch$ at the LHC and future hadron colliders, namely, High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), High-Energy LHC (HE-LHC) and Future Circular hadron-hadron Collider (FCC-hh). Two scenarios in which the Higgs boson could decay: into a quark bottom pair $(\textit{bb-channel})$ and two photons $(\textit{$γγ$-channel})$ are analyzed. A Monte Carlo analysis of the signal and the Standard Model (SM) background is computed. Center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=14,\;27\; $\text{and}$\; 100$ TeV and integrated luminosities from $0.3$ to $30$ ab$^{-1}$ are explored. The theoretical framework adopted in this work is the Type-III Two-Higgs Doublet Model (THDM-III) for which, constraints on the parameter space from the Higgs boson coupling modifiers $κ_i$ are presented and used in order to evaluate the branching ratio of the $t\to ch$ decay and the ($pp\to t\bar{t},\,t\to ch$) production cross section. We find that with the integrated luminosity achieved at the LHC, the $t\to ch$ decay is out of the reach of detection. More promising results emerge for the HL-LHC, HE-LHC and FCC-hh in which potential discoveries could be claimed.

Weak dipole moments of the tau lepton in models with an extended scalar sector

We consider renormalizable couplings of neutral $ϕ$, singly $ϕ^\pm$, and doubly charged $ϕ^{\pm\pm}$ scalar bosons to leptons and the $Z$ gauge boson and calculate the one-loop contributions to the anomalous weak magnetic dipole moment (AWMDM) $a_τ^W$ and the weak electric dipole moment (WEDM) $d_τ^W$ of a charged lepton in a model independent way. The analytic expressions are presented in terms of both parametric integrals and Passarino-Veltman scalar functions. Among the new contributions, there are those arising from the vertices of the type $ϕ^\pm W^\mp Z$ and $Z ϕ_iϕ_j$ ($i\ne j$), along with contributions from doubly charged scalar bosons. Both $a_τ$ and $d_τ^W$ are evaluated in several scenarios , first in a model independent way and then within some popular models, such as two-Higgs doublet models (THDMs), multiple-Higgs doublet models and Higgs triplet models. As far as $a_τ^W$ is concerned, its real part reaches values as high as $10^{-10}-10^{-9}$ for masses of the new scalar bosons in the 200 GeV range, whereas the imaginary part is one or two orders of magnitude below. On the other hand, the most promising scenario for a nonvanishing WEDM is offered by a $CP$-violating THDM in a scenario where the heavy neutral scalar bosons are a mixture of $CP$ eigenstates. It is found that the real part of $d_τ^W$ is of the order of $10^{-24}$ ecm and its imaginary part can reach the $10^{-26}$ ecm level for masses of the new scalar bosons of the order of a few hundred of GeVs. Both the tau AWMDM and WEDM decrease dramatically as the scalar boson masses increase.

$τ^{-}\to \ell_i^{-} \ell_i^{+} \ell_j^{-} \barν_{j} ν_τ$ decays with a magnetic dipole term

Using the massive helicity formalism we calculate the five-body average square amplitude of the decays $τ^{-}\to \ell_i^{-} \ell_i^{+} \ell_j^{-} \barν_{j} ν_τ$ $(\ell=e,\,μ)$ within the Standard Model (SM), we then introduce a dimension-five effective vertex $Γ^{ττγ}$ in order to determine the feasibility of imposing limits on the tau anomalous magnetic dipole moment ($a_τ$) via the current or future experimental measurements of the branching ratio for the decay $τ^{-}\to e^{-} e^{+} e^{-} \barν_{e} ν_τ$.

Anomalous magnetic and weak magnetic dipole moments of the $τ$ lepton in the simplest little Higgs model

We obtain analytical expressions, both in terms of parametric integrals and Passarino-Veltman scalar functions, for the one-loop contributions to the anomalous weak magnetic dipole moment (AWMDM) of a charged lepton in the framework of the simplest little Higgs model (SLHM). Our results are general and can be useful to compute the weak properties of a charged lepton in other extensions of the standard model (SM). As a by-product we obtain generic contributions to the anomalous magnetic dipole moment (AMDM), which agree with previous results. We then study numerically the potential contributions from this model to the $τ$ lepton AMDM and AWMDM for values of the parameter space consistent with current experimental data. It is found that they depend mainly on the energy scale $f$ at which the global symmetry is broken and the $t_β$ parameter, whereas there is little sensitivity to a mild change in the values of other parameters of the model. While the $τ$ AMDM is of the order of $10^{-9}$, the real (imaginary) part of its AWMDM is of the order of $10^{-9}$ ($10^{-10}$). These values seem to be out of the reach of the expected experimental sensitivity of future experiments.

$WWV$ $(V=γ,Z)$ vertex in the Georgi-Machacek model

The CP-even static form factors $Δκ'_V$ and $ΔQ_V$ ($V=γ,\, Z$) associated with the $WWV$ vertex are studied in the context of the Georgi-Machacek model (GMM), which predicts nine new scalar bosons accommodated in a singlet, a triplet and a fiveplet. General expressions for the one-loop contributions to $Δκ'_V$ and $ΔQ_V$ arising from neutral, singly and doubly charged scalar bosons are obtained in terms of both parametric integrals and Passarino-Veltman scalar functions, which can be numerically evaluated. It is found that the GMM yields 15 (28) distinct contributions to $Δκ'_γ$ and $ΔQ_γ$ ($Δκ'_Z$ and $ΔQ_Z$), though several of them are naturally suppressed. A numerical analysis is done in the region of parameter space still consistent with current experimental data and it is found that the largest contributions to $Δκ'_V$ arise from Feynman diagrams with two nondegenerate scalar bosons in the loop, with values of the order of $a=g^2/(96π^2)$ reached when there is a large splitting between the masses of these scalar bosons. As for $ΔQ_V$, it reaches values as large as $10^{-2}a$ for the lightest allowed scalar bosons, but it decreases rapidly as one of the masses of the scalar bosons becomes large. Among the new contributions of the GMM to the $Δκ'_V$ and $ΔQ_V$ form factors are those induced by the $H_5^\pm W^\mp Z$ vertex, which arises at the tree-level and is a unique prediction of this model.

Flavor Violating Higgs signals in the Texturized Two-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM-Tx)

Flavor violating Higgs signals, such as the top FCNC decay $t\to ch^0$ and the LFV Higgs decay $h^0\to τμ$, have been studied at the LHC. These signals can arise within the general Two-Higgs doublet model (THDM), where each Higgs doublet couples to all fermions types through Yukawa matrices $Y^f_1$ and $Y^f_2$. The Yukawa matrices can be assumed to have the same form or they could have different structures. In this paper we study the case when both $Y^f_1$ and $Y^f_2$ have completely different forms, but in such a way that they complement to produce a specific hermitian mass matrix. We find that for specific four-zero textures, the Flavor Violating Higgs couplings depend only on the free parameters $\tan β$, $γ_f$ and the fermion masses. We use the current bounds on the low energy processes, to derive constraints on the Heavy Higgs boson mass, $\tan β$ and $γ_f$. Then, we use these constraints to evaluate the LFV Higgs decays, which reach Branching ratios that could be tested at the LHC.
