Non-unitary extension of Grover's search algorithm

We have developed a non-unitary extension of Grover's search algorithm by changing the hidden geometry of Hilbert space carried by diffusion operator. Our algorithm finds the solution for search problem by performing a unique bigger rotation rather than small rotations in order polynomial times in the size $N$ of search space. We analyze the complexity of implementing the non-unitary operation and we observed that the price paid by performing this rotation is due the normalization. In Kraus operator approach we need $O(N)$ repetition of the algorithm to have a chance of measuring a solution in a post-selection, this is no better than the classical solution. However, the quantum singular value transform in addition with block encoding and Chebyshev polynomial approximation, we got complexity $O(\sqrt{N})$ and reach the Grover's bound with an extra resource of one single qubit, compared with the standard Grover's algorithm.

Nonextensive realizations in interacting ion channels: implications for mechano-electrical transducer mechanisms

Although there are theoretical studies on the thermodynamics of ion channels, an investigation involving the thermodynamics of coupled channels has not been proposed. To overcome this issue, we developed calculations to present a thermodynamic scenario associated with mechanoelectrical transduction channels as a single and coupling of two-state channels. The modeling was inspired by the Tsallis theory, in which we derived the open and closed probability distributions, the joint probability distribution, the Tsallis entropy, and the Shannon mutual information. Despite being well studied in many biological systems, the literature has not addressed both entropy and mutual information related to isolated and a pair of physically interacting mechanoelectrical transduction channels. Inspired by the hair cell biophysics, we revealed how the presence of nonextensivity modulates the degree of entropy and mutual information as a function of stereocilia displacements. In this sense, we showed how the non-extensivity regulates the current versus displacement curve for a single and two interacting channels made up of a single open and closed states. Overall, subadditivity and superadditivity yielded increments and decrements in the entropy and mutual information compared with the extensive regime. We also observed that the magnitude of the interaction between the two channels significantly influences the amplitude of the joint entropy and the mutual information. These results are directly related to the modulation of the channel kinetics, given by changes evoked by hair cell displacements. Finally, we found that the gating force modulates the contribution of subadditivity and superadditivity present in the joint entropy and the mutual information. The present findings shed light on the thermodynamic process involved in the molecular mechanisms of the auditory system.

Clifford Algebras, Multipartite Systems and Gauge Theory Gravity

In this paper we present a multipartite formulation of gauge theory gravity based on the formalism of space-time algebra for gravitation developed by Lasenby and Doran (Lasenby, A. N., Doran, C. J. L, and Gull, S.F.: Gravity, gauge theories and geometric algebra. Phil. Trans. R. Soc. Lond. A, 582, 356:487 (1998)). We associate the gauge fields with description of fermionic and bosonic states using the generalized graded tensor product. Einstein's equations are deduced from the graded projections and an algebraic Hopf-like structure naturally emerges from formalism. A connection with the theory of the quantum information is performed through the minimal left ideals and entangled qubits are derived. In addition applications to black holes physics and standard model are outlined.

Lie Algebras and Generalized Thermal Coherent States

In this paper, we developed an algebraic formulation for the generalized thermal coherent states with a Thermofield Dynamics approach for multi-modes, based on coset space of Lie groups. In particular, we applied our construction on $SU(2)$ and $SU(1,1)$ symmetries and we obtain their thermal coherent states and density operator. We also calculate their thermal quantum Fidelity and thermal Wigner function.

Maximum likelihood q-estimator reveals nonextensivity regulated by extracellular potassium in the mammalian neuromuscular junction

Recently, we demonstrated the existence of nonextensivity in neuromuscular transmission [Phys. Rev. E 84, 041925 (2011)]. In the present letter, we propose a general criterion based on the q-calculus foundations and nonextensive statistics to estimate the values for both scale factor and q-index using the maximum likelihood q-estimation method (MLqE). We next applied our theoretical findings to electrophysiological recordings from neuromuscular junction (NMJ) where spontaneous miniature end plate potentials (MEPP) were analyzed. These calculations were performed in both normal and high extracellular potassium concentration, [K+]o. This protocol was assumed to test the validity of the q-index in electrophysiological conditions closely resembling physiological stimuli. Surprisingly, the analysis showed a significant difference between the q-index in high and normal [K+]o, where the magnitude of nonextensivity was increased. Our letter provides a general way to obtain the best q-index from the q-Gaussian distribution function. It also expands the validity of Tsallis statistics in a more realistic stimulus condition. Physical and physiological implications of these findings are discussed in detail.
