On the use of FHT, its modification for practical applications and the structure of Hough image

This work focuses on the Fast Hough Transform (FHT) algorithm proposed by M.L. Brady. We propose how to modify the standard FHT to calculate sums along lines within any given range of their inclination angles. We also describe a new way to visualise Hough-image based on regrouping of accumulator space around its center. Finally, we prove that using Brady parameterization transforms any line into a figure of type "angle".

-- HATHOR -- HAdronic Top and Heavy quarks crOss section calculatoR

We present a program to calculate the total cross section for top-quark pair production in hadronic collisions. The program takes into account recent theoretical developments such as approximate next-to-next-to-leading order perturbative QCD corrections and it allows for studies of the theoretical uncertainty by separate variations of the factorization and renormalization scales. In addition it offers the possibility to obtain the cross section as a function of the running top-quark mass. The program can also be applied to a hypothetical fourth quark family provided the QCD couplings are standard.

Measurement of $K^+ \to π^0 π^0 e^+ ν$ ($K_{e4}^{00}$) decay using stopped positive kaons

The $K^+ \to π^0 π^0 e^+ ν$ ($K_{e4}^{00}$) decay has been measured with stopped positive kaons for a data sample of 216 events. A comparison of the observed spectra with a Monte Carlo simulation determined the $K_{e4}^{00}$ form factor. The results are compatible with the $K^+ \to π^+ π^- e^+ ν$ data, as estimated from the $ΔI=1/2$ rule. We also established that the $K_{e4}^{00}$ channel can be used to determine the $π$-$π$ scattering lengths.

A new limit of T-violating transverse muon polarization in the $K^{+}\toπ^{0}μ^{+} ν$ decay

A search for T-violating transverse muon polarization ($P_T$) in the $K^{+}\to π^{0}μ^{+}ν$ decay was performed using kaon decays at rest. A new improved value, $P_T= -0.0017\pm 0.0023 (stat)\pm 0.0011 (syst)$, was obtained giving an upper limit, $| P_T | < 0.0050$. The T-violation parameter was determined to be Im$ξ= -0.0053 \pm 0.0071(stat)\pm 0.0036(syst)$ giving an upper limit, $|$Im$ξ| <0.016$.

Further search for T-violation in the decay K^+ --> pi^0 mu^+ nu

A new result for the transverse mu^+ polarization, P_T, in the decay K^+ --> pi^0 mu^+ nu has been obtained in the KEK E246 experiment. Combined with our earlier result, P_T = (-1.12 +- 2.17(stat) +- 0.90(syst))x10^{-3} and Im(ξ) = (-0.28 +- 0.69(stat) +- 0.30(syst))x10^{-2}, which are consistent with no T-violation.
