The cosmic ray shadow of the Moon observed with the ANTARES neutrino telescope

One of the main objectives of the ANTARES telescope is the search for point-like neutrino sources. Both the pointing accuracy and the angular resolution of the detector are important in this context and a reliable way to evaluate this performance is needed. In order to measure the pointing accuracy of the detector, one possibility is to study the shadow of the Moon, i.e. the deficit of the atmospheric muon flux from the direction of the Moon induced by the absorption of cosmic rays. Analysing the data taken between 2007 and 2016, the Moon shadow is observed with $3.5σ$ statistical significance. The detector angular resolution for downward-going muons is 0.73$^{\circ}\pm0.14^{\circ}.$ The resulting pointing performance is consistent with the expectations. An independent check of the telescope pointing accuracy is realised with the data collected by a shower array detector onboard of a ship temporarily moving around the ANTARES location.

Search for neutrinos from TXS 0506+056 with the ANTARES telescope

The results of three different searches for neutrino candidates, associated with the IceCube-170922A event or from the direction of TXS 0506+056, by the ANTARES neutrino telescope are presented. The first search refers to the online follow-up of the IceCube alert; the second is based on the standard time-integrated method employed by the Collaboration to search for point-like neutrino sources; the third uses the information from the IceCube time-dependent analysis reporting a bursting activity centered on December 13, 2014, as input for an ANTARES time-dependent analysis. The online follow-up and the time-dependent analysis yield no events related to the source. The time-integrated study performed over a period from 2007 to 2017 fits 1.03 signal events, which corresponds to a p-value of 3.4% (not considering trial factors). Only for two other astrophysical objects in our candidate list, a smaller p-value had been found. When considering that 107 sources have been investigated, the post-trial p-value for TXS 0506+056 corresponds to 87%.

Joule-Thomson Expansion of RN-AdS Black Holes in $f(R)$ gravity

In this paper, we study Joule-Thomson effects for charged AdS black holes in $f(R)$ gravity. We obtain the inversion temperatures as well as inversion curves, and investigate similarities and differences between van der Waals fluids and charged AdS black holes in $f(R)$ gravity for this expansion. In addition, we determine the position of the inversion point versus different values of the mass $M$, the charge $Q$ and the parameter $b$ for such black hole. At this point, the Joule-Thomson coefficient $μ$ vanishes, an import feature that we used to obtain the cooling-heating regions by scrutinizing the sign of the $μ$ quantity.

Chaos in charged AdS black hole extended phase space

We present an analytical study of chaos in a charged black hole in the extended phase space in the context of the Poincare-Melnikov theory. Along with some background on dynamical systems, we compute the relevant Melnikov function and find its zeros. Then we analyse these zeros either to identify the temporal chaos in the spinodal region, or to observe spatial chaos in the small - large black hole equilibrium configuration. As a byproduct, we derive a constraint on the Black hole charge required to produce chaotic behaviour. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first endeavour to understand the correlation between chaos and phase picture in black holes.

Collective motion in prolate γ-rigid nuclei within minimal length concept via a quantum perturbation method

Based on the minimal length concept, inspired by Heisenberg algebra, a closed analytical formula is derived for the energy spectrum of the prolate γ-rigid Bohr-Mottelson Hamiltonian of nuclei, within a quantum perturbation method (QPM), by considering a scaled Davidson potential in \b{eta} shape variable. In the resulting solution, called X(3)-D-ML, the ground state and the first \b{eta}-band are all studied as a function of the free parameters. The fact of introducing the minimal length concept with a QPM makes the model very flexible and a powerful approach to describe nuclear collective excitations of a variety of vibrational-like nuclei. The introduction of scaling parameters in the Davidson potential enables us to get a physical minimum of this latter in comparison with previous works. The analysis of the corrected wave function, as well as the probability density distribution, shows that the minimal length parameter has a physical upper bound limit.

Collective motion in triaxial nuclei within minimal length concept

The concept of minimal length, inspired by Heisenberg algebra, is applied to the geometrical collective Bohr- Mottelson model (BMM) of nuclei. With the deformed canonical commutation relation and the Pauli-Podolsky prescription, we have derived the quantized Hamiltonian operator for triaxial nuclei as we have previously done for axial prolate $γ$-rigid ones (M. Chabab et al., Phys. Lett. B 758 (2016) 212-218). By considering an infinite square well like potential in $β$ collective shape variable, the eigenvalues of the Hamiltonian are obtained in terms of zeros of Bessel functions of irrational order with an explicit dependence on the minimal length parameter. Moreover, the associated symmetry with the model that we have constructed here can be considered as a new quasi-dynamical critical point symmetries (CPSs) in nuclear structure. The theoretical results indicate a dramatic contribution (Low effect) of the minimal length to energy levels for lower values of the angular momentum and regular (significant effect) for higher values. In fact, these features show that the minimal length scenario which is useful in recognizing the properties of real deformed nuclei having high spins or strong rotations. Finally, numerical calculations are performed for some nuclei such as ${}^{124,128,130}$Xe and ${}^{114}$Pd revealing a qualitative agreement with the experimental data.

Davydov-Chaban Hamiltonian within the formalism of deformation-dependent effective mass for Davidson potential

In this work, we modify the Davydov-Chaban Hamiltonian describing the collective motion of a $γ$-rigid atomic nucleus by allowing the mass to depend on nuclear deformation. Exact analytical expressions are derived for energy spectra as well as normalized wave functions for Davidson potential. The model, called Z(4)-DDMD (Deformation Dependent Mass with Davidson potential), is achieved by using the Asymptotic Iteration Method (AIM). The numerical calculations for energy spectra and B(E2) transition probabilities are compared to the experimental data of $^{192-196}$Pt isotopes. The obtained results show an overall agreement with the experiment and an important improvement in respect to other models.

Davydov-Chaban Hamiltonian with deformation-dependent mass term for γ = 30°

Motivation : Several theoretical comparisons with experimental data have recently pointed out that the mass tensor of the collective Bohr Hamiltonian cannot be considered as a constant and should be taken as a function of the collective coordinates. Method : The Davydov-Chaban Hamiltonian, describing the collective motion of γ-rigid atomic nuclei, is modified by allowing the mass to depend on the nuclear deformation. Moreover, the eigenvalue problem for this Hamiltonian is solved for Davidson potential and γ = 30° involving an Asymptotic Iteration Method (AIM). The present model is conventionally called Z(4)-DDM-D (Deformation Dependent Mass with Davidson potential), in respect to the so called Z(4) model. Results : Exact analytical expressions are derived for energy spectra and normalized wave functions, for the present model. The obtained results show an overall agreement with the experimental data for 108-116Pd, 128-132Xe, 136;138Ce and 190-198Pt and an important improvement in respect to other models. Prediction of a new candidate nucleus for triaxial symmetry is made. Conclusion : The dependence of the mass on the deformation reduces the increase rate of the moment of inertia with deformation, removing a main drawback of the model and leading to an improved agreement with the corresponding experimental data.

More Insight into Microscopic Properties of RN-AdS Black Hole Surrounded by Quintessence via an Alternative Extended Phase Space

In this work we study the phase transition of the charged-AdS black hole surrounded by quintessence via an alternative extended phase space defined by the charge square $Q^2$ and her conjugate $Ψ$, a quantity proportional to the inverse of horizon radius, while the cosmological constant is kept fixed. The equation of state is derived under the form $Q^2=Q^2(T,Ψ)$ and the critical behavior of such black hole analyzed. In addition, we explore the connection between the microscopic structure and Ruppeiner geothermodynamics. We also find that, at certain points of the phase space, the Ruppeiner curvature is characterized by the presence of singularities that are interpreted as phase transitions.

Phase Transition of Charged-AdS Black Holes and Quasinormal Modes : a Time Domain Analysis

In this work we use the quasinormal mode of a massless scalar perturbation to probe the phase transition of the charged-AdS black hole in time profile. The signature of the critical behavior of this black hole solution is detected in the isobaric process. This paper is a natural extension of [1, 2] to the time domain analysis. More precisely, our study shows a clear signal in term of the damping rate and the oscillation frequencies of the scalar field perturbation. We conclude that the quasinormal modes can be an efficient tool to detect the signature of thermodynamic phase transition in the isobaric process far from the critical temperature, but fail to disclose this signature at the critical temperature

Scattering states of Dirac particle equation with position dependent mass under the cusp potential

We solved the one-dimensional position-dependent mass Dirac equation in the presence of the cusp potential and reported the solutions in terms of the Whittaker functions. We have derived the reflection and transmission coefficients by making use of the matching conditions on the wave functions. The effect of position dependent mass on the reflection and transmission coefficients of the system is duly investigated.

Scattering states of position-dependent mass Schrödinger equation with non central potential

In this paper, we study the time-independent Schrödinger equation within the formalism of position dependent effective mass. For a generalized decomposition of the non-central effective potential, the deformed Schrödinger equation can be easily solved analytically through separation of variables. The energy eigenvalues and the normalization constant of the radial wave functions are obtained, as well as the scattering phase shifts.

Excited collective states of nuclei within Bohr Hamiltonian with Tietz-Hua potential

In this paper, we present new analytical solutions of the Bohr Hamiltonian problem that we derived with the Tietz-Hua potential, here used for describing the β-part of the nuclear collective potential plus harmonic oscillator one for the γ-part. Also, we proceed to a systematic comparison of the numerical results obtained with this kind of β-potential with others which are widely used in such a framework as well as with the experiment. The calculations are carried out for energy spectra and electromagnetic transition probabilities for γ-unstable and axially symmetric deformed nuclei. In the same frame, we show the effect of the shape flatness of the β-potential beyond its minimum on transition rates calculations.

Behavior of Quasinormal Modes and high dimension RN-AdS Black Hole phase transition

In this work we use the quasinormal frequencies of a massless scalar perturbation to probe the phase transition of the high dimension charged-AdS black hole. The signature of the critical behavior of this black hole solution is detected in the isobaric as well as in isothermal process. This paper is a natural generalization of \cite{base} to higher dimensional spacetime. More precisely our study shows a clear signal for any dimension $d$ in the isobaric process. As to the isothermal case, we find out that this signature can be affected by other parameters like the pressure and the horizon radius. We conclude that the quasinormal modes can be an efficient tool to investigate the first order phase transition, but fail to disclose the signature of the second order phase transition.

Nuclear shape phase transition within a conjonction of γ-rigid and γ-stable collective behaviours in deformation dependent mass formalism

In this paper, we present a theoretical study of a conjonction of $γ$-rigid and $γ$-stable collective motions in critical point symmetries of the phase transitions from spherical to deformed shapes of nuclei using exactly separable version of the Bohr Hamiltonian with deformation-dependent mass term. The deformation-dependent mass is applied simultaneously to $γ$-rigid and $γ$-stable parts of this famous collective Hamiltonian. Moreover, the $β$ part of the problem is described by means of Davidson potential, while the $γ$-angular part corresponding to axially symmetric shapes is treated by a Harmonic Osillator potential. The energy eigenvalues and normalized eigenfunctions of the problem are obtained in compact forms by making use of the asymptotic iteration method. The combined effect of the deformation-dependent mass and rigidity as well as harmonic oscillator stiffness parameters on the energy spectrum and wave functions is duly investigated. Also, the electric quadrupole transition ratios and energy sprectrum of some $γ$-stable and prolate nuclei are calculated and compared with the experimental data as well as with other theoretical models.

Electric quadrupole transitions of the Bohr Hamiltonian with Manning-Rosen potential

Analytical expressions of the wave functions are derived for a Bohr Hamiltonian with the Manning{Rosen potential in the cases of γ-unstable nuclei and axially symmetric prolate deformed ones with γ=0. By exploiting the results we have obtained in a recent work on the same theme Ref. [1], we have calculated the B(E2) transition rates for 34 γ-unstable and 38 rotational nuclei and compared to experimental data, revealing a qualitative agreement with the experiment and phase transitions within the ground state band and showing also that the Manning-Rosen potential is more appropriate for such calculations than other potentials.

Thermodynamics of Charged AdS Black Holes in Extended Phases Space via M2-branes Background

Motivated by a recent work on asymptotically Ad$S_4$ black holes in M-theory, we investigate both thermodynamics and thermodynamical geometry of Raissner-Nordstrom-AdS black holes from M2-branes. More precisely, we study AdS black holes in $AdS_{4}\times S^{7}$, with the number of M2-branes interpreted as a thermodynamical variable. In this context, we calculate various thermodynamical quantities including the chemical potential, and examine their phase transitions along with the corresponding stability behaviors. In addition, we also evaluate the thermodynamical curvatures of the Weinhold, Ruppeiner and Quevedo metrics for M2-branes geometry to study the stability of such black object. We show that the singularities of these scalar curvature's metrics reproduce similar stability results obtained by the phase transition program via the heat capacities in different ensembles either when the number of the M2 branes or the charge are held fixed. Also, we note that all results derived in [1] are recovered in the limit of the vanishing charge.
