Approximate solutions by truncated Taylor series expansions of nonlinear differential equations and the related shadowing property

This paper investigates the errors of the solutions as well as the shadowing property of a class of nonlinear differential equations which possess unique solutions on a certain interval for any admissible initial conditions. The class of differential equations are assumed to be approximated by well-posed truncated Taylor series expansions up to a certain order obtained about certain, in general non-periodic, sampling points of the solution.

On the asymptotic hyperstability of switched systems

Asymptotic hyperstability is achievable under certain switching laws if at least one of the feed-forward parameterization: 1) possesses a strictly positive real transfer function, 2) a minimum residence time interval is respected for each activation time interval of such a parameterization, and 3) a maximum allowable residence time interval is guaranteed for all active parameterization which is not positive real.

Focusing on best proximity points of generalized versions of cyclic impulsive self-mappings

This paper studies the properties of convergence of distances between points and the existence and uniqueness of best proximity and fixed points of the so-called semi-cyclic impulsive self-mappings on the union of a number of nonempty subsets in metric spaces. The concept of semi-cyclic self- mappings generalizes the well-known of cyclic ones in the sense that the iterated sequences built through such mappings are allowed to have images located in the same subset as its pre-image. The self-mappings under study may be impulsive since eventually being composite mappings involving two self-mappings, one of them being eventually discontinuous so that the formalism can potentially be applied to the study of stability of a class of impulsive differential equations and their discrete counterparts

On pseudocontractions in cyclic maps

This paper discusses a more general contractive condition for a class of extended cyclic self-mappings on the union of a finite number of subsets of a metric space which are allowed to have a finite number of successive images in the same subsets of its domain. If the space is uniformly convex and the subsets are non-empty, closed and convex then all the iterates converge to a unique closed limiting finite sequence which contains the best proximity points of adjacent subsets and reduces to a unique fixed point if all such subsets intersect.

Some vaccination strategies for the SEIR epidemic model. Preliminary results

This paper presents a vaccination-based control strategy for a SEIR (susceptible plus infected plus infectious plus removed populations) propagation disease model. The model takes into account the total population amounts as a refrain for the illness transmission since its increase makes more difficult contacts among susceptible and infected. The control objective is the asymptotically tracking of the removed-by-immunity population to the total population while achieving simultaneously the remaining population (i.e. susceptible plus infected plus infectious) to asymptotically tend to zero.

Vaccination rules for a true-mass action SEIR epidemic model based on an observer synthesis. Preliminary results

This paper presents a simple continuous-time linear vaccination-based control strategy for a SEIR (susceptible plus infected plus infectious plus removed populations) propagation disease model. The model takes into account the total population amounts as a refrain for the illness transmission since its increase makes more difficult contacts among susceptible and infected. The control objective is the asymptotically tracking of the removed-byimmunity population to the total population while achieving simultaneously the remaining population (i.e. susceptible plus infected plus infectious) to asymptotically converge to zero. A state observer is used to estimate the true various partial populations of susceptible, infected, infectious and immune which are assumed to be unknown. The model parameters are also assumed to be, in general, unknown. In this case, the parameters are replaced by available estimates to implement the vaccination action.

Basic Vaccination Control Techniques for a General True -Mass Action SEIR Model

This paper presents several simple linear vaccination-based control strategies for a SEIR (susceptible plus infected plus infectious plus removed populations) propagation disease model. The model takes into account the total population amounts as a refrain for the illness transmission since its increase makes more difficult contacts among susceptible and infected. The vaccination control objective is the asymptotically tracking of the removed-by-immunity population to the total population while achieving simultaneously that the remaining populations (i.e. susceptible plus infected plus infectious) tend asymptotically to zero.

On a SIS model with impulsive effects

This paper is concerned with a SIS (susceptible, infected and susceptible populations) propagation disease model with a nonlinear incidence rate and eventual impulsive (non- necessarily being simultaneous) culling of both populations. The disease transmission does not necessarily take into account the total population as a normalizing effect. In this sense, the considered model is a mixed pseudo-mass. The positivity, stability of both the impulse- free and impulsive under pulse culling variants of the model are investigated in this paper.

Vaccination strategies for SEIR models using feedback linearization. Preliminary results

A linearization-based feedback-control strategy for a SEIR epidemic model is discussed. The vaccination objective is the asymptotically tracking of the removed-by-immunity population to the total population while achieving simultaneously the remaining population (i.e. susceptible plus infected plus infectious) to asymptotically tend to zero. The disease controlpolicy is designed based on a feedback linearization technique which provides a general method to generate families of vaccination policies with sound technical background.

A Generalization of Halpern Iteration. Preliminary Results

A generalization of a viscosity generalized Halpern iteration scheme is analyzed. It is proven that the solution converges asymptotically strongly to a unique fixed point of an asymptotically nonexpansive mapping which drives the iteration together with a contractive self-mapping, a viscosity term and two driving external forcing terms.

Asymptotic Behavior of Systems involving Delays: Preliminary Results

This paper investigates the relations between the particular eigensolutions of a limiting functional differential equation of any order, which is the nominal (unperturbed) linear autonomous differential equations, and the associate ones of the corresponding perturbed functional differential equation. Both differential equations involve point and distributed delayed dynamics. The proofs are based on a Perron type theorem for functional equations so that the comparison is governed by the real part of a dominant zero of the characteristic equation of the nominal differential equation. The obtained results are also applied to investigate the global stability of the perturbed equation based on that of its corresponding limiting equation.
