Stiff self-interacting string near QCD deconfinement point

We compare the predictions of Nambu-Goto effective string model at two loop-order for the Casimir energy and the width of the quantum delocalization of the string to the corresponding quark-antiquark potential and width profile of the color tube in pure SU (3) Yang-Mills LGT at 4-dimensions near the deconfinement point. Minor effects are returned, when considering NLO terms for both the $Q\bar{Q}$ potential and broadening of the color tube, at the temperature $T/T_c= 0.8$. At a closer temperature to the critical point $T/T_c$= 0.9, we found that the NLO contributions, from the expansion of the Nambu-Goto string, to have a significant effect in improving the match to lattice data in the intermediate distances scales. The string's self-interactions contribute towards the suppressed broadening of the string's width and the squeezed profile along the string at the intermediate color source separation distance.

Proton-proton interactions and onset of deconfinement

The NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN SPS is performing a uniqe study of the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter by varying collision energy and nuclear mass number of colliding nuclei. In central Pb+Pb collisions the NA49 experiment found structures in the energy dependence of several observables in the CERN SPS energy range that had been predicted for the transition to a deconfined phase. New measurements of NA61/SHINE find intriguing similarities in p+p interactions for which no deconfinement transition is expected at SPS energies. Possible implications will be discussed.

Measurements of production and inelastic cross sections for $\mbox{p}+\mbox{C}$, $\mbox{p}+\mbox{Be}$, and $\mbox{p}+\mbox{Al}$ at 60 GeV/$c$ and $\mbox{p}+\mbox{C}$ and $\mbox{p}+\mbox{Be}$ at 120 GeV/$c$

This paper presents measurements of production cross sections and inelastic cross sections for the following reactions: 60 GeV/$c$ protons with C, Be, Al targets and 120 GeV/$c$ protons with C and Be targets. The analysis was performed using the NA61/SHINE spectrometer at the CERN SPS. First measurements were obtained using protons at 120 GeV/$c$, while the results for protons at 60 GeV/$c$ were compared with previously published measurements. These interaction cross section measurements are critical inputs for neutrino flux prediction in current and future accelerator-based long-baseline neutrino experiments.

Measurement of $ϕ$ meson production in p+p interactions at 40, 80 and 158 GeV/c with the NA61/SHINE spectrometer at the CERN SPS

Results on $ϕ$ meson production in inelastic p+p collisions at CERN SPS energies are presented. They are derived from data collected by the NA61/SHINE fixed target experiment, by means of invariant mass spectra fits in the $ϕ\to K^+K^-$ decay channel. They include the first ever measured double differential spectra of $ϕ$ mesons as a function of rapidity $y$ and transverse momentum $p_T$ for proton beam momenta of 80 GeV/c and 158 GeV/c, as well as single differential spectra of $y$ or $p_T$ for beam momentum of 40 GeV/c. The corresponding total $ϕ$ yields per inelastic p+p event are obtained. These results are compared with existing data on $ϕ$ meson production in p+p collisions. The comparison shows consistency but superior accuracy of the present measurements. The emission of $ϕ$ mesons in p+p reactions is confronted with that occurring in Pb+Pb collisions, and the experimental results are compared with model predictions. It appears that none of the considered models can properly describe all the experimental observables.

Mesonic String of Diquark-Quark Configuration at Finite Temperature

We investigate the distance and temperatures scale for which the string in baryonic quark configuration approaches the limiting behavior of mesonic strings in pure Yang-Mills SU(3) lattice gauge theory. We calculate and compare the numerical values of the Polyakov loop correlators and the width profile of both diquark-quark $(QQ)Q$ and mesonic $Q\bar{Q}$ strings. We find the diquark-quark configuration to exhibit an identical behavior to the mesonic string for the potential and energy-density width profile for temperature near the end of QCD plateau. In the vicinity of the deconfinement point; however, the symmetry in the energy-width profile with the meson does not manifest at both short and intermediate distance scales. Moreover, we observe significantly different numerical values for Polyakov loop correlators corresponding to each system. The splitting of the two identical system suggest that, in the high temperature region of the confined phase of QCD, the subsisted baryonic decouplet states overlap with the excited mesonic spectrum yielding the diquark-quark symmetry with the meson inexact in a small enough neighborhood of the critical point $T_{c}$.
