Optimal observables for measuring three-gauge-boson couplings in $e^+ e^- \to W^+ W^-$

Observables with optimised sensitivity to the $WWZ$ and $WWγ$-couplings in $e^+ e^- \to W^+ W^-$ are investigated. They allow for separate studies of CP violation and of absorptive parts in the amplitude. We have calculated expected statistical errors on extracted couplings at $\sqrt{s} = 500 GeV$, with unpolarised or longitudinally polarised beams.

Quark-Antiquark Production in DIS Diffractive Dissociation

We calculate the cross section for the production of two jets with large transverse momenta $\kf^2$ in DIS diffractive dissociation for both transverse and longitudinally polarized photons. The scale which defines the hardness of the pomeron is found to be $\kf^2\frac{Q^2+M^2}{M^2}$. We present analytic expressions and discuss numerical results relevant for the diffractive dissociation at HERA.

Triple Gauge Boson Couplings

We present the results obtained by the "Triple Gauge Couplings" working group during the LEP2 Workshop (1994-1995). The report concentrates on the measurement of $WWγ$ and $WWZ$ couplings in $e^-e^+\to W^-W^+$ or, more generally, four-fermion production at LEP2. In addition the detection of new interactions in the bosonic sector via other production channels is discussed.

Diffractive production of dijets at HERA

We investigate the production of a quark-antiquark pair in diffractive photon- proton scattering, approximating soft pomeron exchange by the exchange of two nonperturbative gluons. In deep inelastic scattering at HERA, events with two jets and the scattered proton in the final state are predicted to be observa- ble, with an important contribution from charm production. For photoproduction of light quark jets with high transverse momentum we find that both exchanged gluons must have a large invariant mass, so that the cross section is very small, whereas for charm quarks it is quite appreciable. From our calculation we also extract the quark structure function of the pomeron for the scaling variable $z$ no too close to 0 or 1, finding a strong flavour dependence and a behaviour somewhat harder than $z (1-z)$ for light quarks.
