$D^* D_s K$ and $D_s ^* D K$ vertices in a QCD Sum Rule approach

We calculate the strong form factors and coupling constants of $ D^* D_s K$ and $D_s^* D K$ vertices using the QCD sum rules technique. In each case we have considered two different cases for the off-shell particle in the vertex: the ligthest meson and one of the heavy mesons. The method gives the same coupling constant for each vertex. When the results for different vertices are compared, they show that the SU(4) symmetry is broken by around 40%.

Diquark-Antidiquark with open charm in QCD sum rules

Using the QCD sum rule approach we investigate the possible four-quark structure of the recently observed charmed scalar mesons $D_0^{0}(2308)$ (BELLE) and $D_0^{0,+}(2405)$ (FOCUS) and also of the very narrow $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$, firstly observed by BABAR. We use diquak-antidiquark currents and work to the order of $m_s$ in full QCD, without relying on $1/m_c$ expansion. Our results indicate that a four-quark structure is acceptable for the resonances observed by BELLE and BABAR: $D_0^{0}(2308)$ and $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$ respectively, but not for the resonances observed by FOCUS: $D_0^{0,+}(2405)$.

Disentangling two- and four-quark state pictures of the charmed scalar mesons

We suggest that the recently observed charmed scalar mesons $D_0^{0}(2308)$ (BELLE) and $D_0^{0,+}(2405)$ (FOCUS) are considered as different resonances. Using the QCD sum rule approach we investigate the possible four-quark structure of these mesons and also of the very narrow $D_{sJ}^{+}(2317)$, firstly observed by BABAR.

J/psi D*D* vertex from QCD sum rules

We calculated the strong form factor and coupling constant for the $J/ψD^* D^*$ vertex in a QCD sum rule calculation. We performed a double Borel sum rule for the three point correlation function of vertex considering both $J/ψ$ and $D^*$ mesons off--shell. The form factors obtained are very different, but they give the same coupling constant.

On the density dependent hadron field theory at finite temperature and its thermodynamical consistency

In this work we study in a formal way the density dependent hadron field theory at finite temperature for nuclear matter. The thermodynamical potential and related quantities, as energy density and pressure are derived in two different ways. We first obtain the thermodynamical potential from the grand partition function, where the Hamiltonian depends on the density operator and is truncated at first order. We then reobtain the thermodynamical potential by calculating explicitly the energy density in a Thomas-Fermi approximation and considering the entropy of a fermi gas. The distribution functions for particles and antiparticles are the output of the minimization of the thermodynamical potential. It is shown that in the mean field theory the thermodynamical consistency is achieved. The connection with effective chiral lagrangians with Brown-Rho scaling is discussed.

Hadronic Entropy Enhancement and Low Density QGP

Recent studies show that for central collisions the rising of the incident energy from AGS to RHIC decreases the value of the chemical potential in the Hadron-QGP phase diagram. Thus, the formation of QGP at RHIC energies in central collisions may be expected to occur at very small values of the chemical potential. Using many different relativistic mean-field hadronic models (RMF) at this regime we show that the critical temperature for the Hadron-QGP transition is hadronic model independent. We have traced back the reason for this and conclude that it comes from the fact that the QGP entropy is much larger than the hadronic entropy obtained in all the RMF models. We also find that almost all of these models present a strong entropy enhancement in the hadronic sector coming from the baryonic phase transition to a nucleon-antinucleon plasma. This result is in agreement with the recent data obtained in the STAR collaboration at RHIC where it was found a rich proton-antiproton matter.

Relativistic Mean Field Approximation in a Density Dependent Parametrization Model at Finite Temperature

In this work we calculate the equation of state of nuclear matter for different proton fractions at zero and finite temperature within the Thomas Fermi approach considering three different parameter sets: the well-known NL3 and TM1 and a density dependent parametrization proposed by Typel and Wolter. The main differences are outlined and the consequences of imposing beta-stability in these models are discussed.

Excluded Volume Effects in the Quark Meson Coupling Model

Excluded volume effects are incorporated in the quark meson coupling model to take into account in a phenomenological way the hard core repulsion of the nuclear force. The formalism employed is thermodynamically consistent and does not violate causality. The effects of the excluded volume on in-medium nucleon properties and the nuclear matter equation of state are investigated as a function of the size of the hard core. It is found that in-medium nucleon properties are not altered significantly by the excluded volume, even for large hard core radii, and the equation of state becomes stiffer as the size of the hard core increases.

D and rho Mesons: Who resolves whom?

The DDrho form factor is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation for both D and rho off-shell mesons. We study the double Borel sum rule for the three point function of two pseudoscalar and one vector meson currents. We find that the momentum dependence of the form factors is very different if the D or the rho meson is off-shell, but they lead to the same coupling constant in the DDrho vertex. We discuss two different approaches to extract the DDrho coupling constant.

$D^*Dπ$ form factor revisited

The $D^*Dπ$ form factor is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation for both $D$ and $π$ off-shell mesons. We study the Borel sum rule for the three-point function of one pseudoscalar, one axial and one vector meson currents. We find that the momentum dependence of the form factors is very different if the $D$ or the $π$ meson is off-shell, but they lead to the same coupling constant in the $D^*Dπ$ vertex.

$D^*Dπ$ and $B^*Bπ$ form factors from QCD Sum Rules

The $H^*Hπ$ form factor for H = B and D mesons is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation. We study the Borel sum rule for the three point function of two pseudoscalar and one vector meson currents up to order four in the operator product expansion. The double Borel transform is performed with respect to the heavy meson momenta. We discuss the momentum dependence of the form factors and two different approaches to extract the $H^*Hπ$ coupling constant.

Hyperon-nucleon coupling from QCD sum rules

The NKY coupling constant for $Y = Λ$ and $Σ$ is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation. We discuss and extend the result of a previous analysis in the $\rlap{/}{q}iγ_5$ structure and compare it with the result obtained with the use of the $γ_5 σ_{μν}$ structure. We find a huge violation of the SU(3) symmetry in the $γ_5 σ_{μν}$ structure.

$g_{NKΛ}$ and $g_{NKΣ}$ from QCD Sum Rules in the $γ_5 σ_{μν}$ structure

The NKY coupling constant for $Y = Λ$ and $Σ$ is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation. We study the Borel sum rule for the three point function of one pseudoscalar one nucleon and one hyperon current up to order six in the operator product expansion. The Borel transform is performed with respect to the nucleon and hyperon momenta, which are taken to be equal. We discuss and extend the result of a previous analysis in the $\rlap{/}{q}iγ_5$ structure and compare it with the result obtained with the use of the $γ_5 σ_{μν}$ structure. We find that the effect of pole-continuum transitions is very important in the $\rlap{/}{q}iγ_5$ structure and that it changes completely results obtained in previous analysis.

Quark-meson coupling model with constituent quarks: Exchange and pionic effects

The binding energy of nuclear matter including exchange and pionic effects is calculated in a quark-meson coupling model with massive constituent quarks. As in the case with elementary nucleons in QHD, exchange effects are repulsive. However, the coupling of the mesons directly to the quarks in the nucleons introduces a new effect on the exchange energies that provides an extra repulsive contribution to the binding energy. Pionic effects are not small. Implications of such effects on observables are discussed.

Nuclear Coherent versus Incoherent Effects in Peripheral RHI Collisions

We derive simple and physically transparent expressions for the contribution of the strong interaction to one nucleon removal processes in peripheral relativistic heavy ion collisions. The coherent contribution,i.e, the excitation of a giant dipole resonance via meson exchange is shown to be negligible as well as interference between coulomb and nuclear excitation. Incoherent nucleon knock out contribution is also derived suggesting the nature of the nuclear interaction in this class of processes. We also justify the simple formulae used to fit the data of the E814 Collaboration.

Self-consistent solution of the Schwinger-Dyson equations for the nucleon and meson propagators

The Schwinger-Dyson equations for the nucleon and meson propagators are solved self-consistently in an approximation that goes beyond the Hartree-Fock approximation. The traditional approach consists in solving the nucleon Schwinger-Dyson equation with bare meson propagators and bare meson-nucleon vertices; the corrections to the meson propagators are calculated using the bare nucleon propagator and bare nucleon-meson vertices. It is known that such an approximation scheme produces the appearance of ghost poles in the propagators. In this paper the coupled system of Schwinger-Dyson equations for the nucleon and the meson propagators are solved self-consistently including vertex corrections. The interplay of self-consistency and vertex corrections on the ghosts problem is investigated. It is found that the self-consistency does not affect significantly the spectral properties of the propagators. In particular, it does not affect the appearance of the ghost poles in the propagators.
