Using Cayley transform, we show how to construct rotation matrices \emph{infinitely near} the identity matrix over a non-archimedean pythagorean field. As an application, an alternative way to construct non-central proper normal subgroups of the rotation group over such fields is provided.
The notion of a separable extension is an important concept in Galois theory. Traditionally, this concept is introduced using the minimal polynomial and the formal derivative. In this work, we present an alternative approach to this classical concept.Based on our approach, we will give new proofs of some basic results about separable extensions (such as the existence of the separable closure, Theorem of the primitive element and the transitivity of separability).
The question of whether a split tensor product of quaternion algebras with involution over a field of characteristic two can be expressed as a tensor product of split quaternion algebras with involution, is shown to have an affirmative answer.
A necessary and sufficient condition for a central simple algebra with involution over a field of characteristic two to be decomposable as a tensor product of quaternion algebras with involution, in terms of its Frobenius subalgebras, is given. It is also proved that a bilinear Pfister form, recently introduced by A. Dolphin, can classify totally decomposable central simple algebras of orthogonal type.
Involutions of the Clifford algebra of a quadratic space induced by orthogonal symmetries are investigated.
