Relationship between the visibility of political leaders during campaign and the outcome in general elections. A case study for Spain

In this article, the authors find the evidence that media coverage consisting of 13 online newspapers enhanced the electoral results of right wing party in Spain (Vox) during general elections in November 2019. We consider the political parties and leaders mentions in these media during the electoral campaign from 1st to 10th November 2019, and only visibility or prominence dimension is necessary for the evidence.

Enhanced gauge symmetry and winding modes in Double Field Theory

We provide an explicit example of how the string winding modes can be incorporated in double field theory. Our guiding case is the closed bosonic string compactified on a circle of radius close to the self-dual point, where some modes with non-zero winding or discrete momentum number become massless and enhance the $U(1) \times U(1)$ symmetry to $SU(2) \times SU(2)$. We compute three-point string scattering amplitudes of massless and slightly massive states, and extract the corresponding effective low energy gauge field theory. The enhanced gauge symmetry at the self-dual point and the Higgs-like mechanism arising when changing the compactification radius are examined in detail. The extra massless fields associated to the enhancement are incorporated into a generalized frame with $\frac{O(d+3,d+3)}{O(d+3)\times O(d+3)}$ structure, where $d$ is the number of non-compact dimensions. We devise a consistent double field theory action that reproduces the low energy string effective action with enhanced gauge symmetry. The construction requires a truly non-geometric frame which explicitly depends on both the compact coordinate along the circle and its dual.

Extended geometry and gauged maximal supergravity

We consider generalized diffeomorphisms on an extended mega-space associated to the U-duality group of gauged maximal supergravity in four dimensions, E_7. Through the bein for the extended metric we derive dynamical (field-dependent) fluxes taking values in the representations allowed by supersymmetry, and obtain their quadratic constraints from gauge consistency conditions. A covariant generalized Ricci tensor is introduced, defined in terms of a connection for the generalized diffeomorphisms. We show that for any torsionless and metric-compatible generalized connection, the Ricci scalar reproduces the scalar potential of gauged maximal supergravity. We comment on how these results extend to other groups and dimensions.

Pointed Hopf algebras over the sporadic simple groups

We show that every finite-dimensional complex pointed Hopf algebra with group of group-likes isomorphic to a sporadic group is a group algebra, except for the Fischer group Fi22, the Baby Monster and the Monster. For these three groups, we give a short list of irreducible Yetter-Drinfeld modules whose Nichols algebra is not known to be finite-dimensional.

U-dual fluxes and Generalized Geometry

We perform a systematic analysis of generic string flux compactifications, making use of Exceptional Generalized Geometry (EGG) as an organizing principle. In particular, we establish the precise map between fluxes, gaugings of maximal 4d supergravity and EGG, identifying the complete set of gaugings that admit an uplift to 10d heterotic or type IIB supegravity backgrounds. Our results reveal a rich structure, involving new deformations of 10d supergravity backgrounds, such as the RR counterparts of the $β$-deformation. These new deformations are expected to provide the natural extension of the $β$-deformation to full-fledged F-theory backgrounds. Our analysis also provides some clues on the 10d origin of some of the particularly less understood gaugings of 4d supergravity. Finally, we derive the explicit expression for the effective superpotential in arbitrary N = 1 heterotic or type IIB orientifold compactifications, for all the allowed fluxes.

On pointed Hopf algebras associated with the symmetric groups II

This is a sequel to arXiv:0807.2406. It is shown that the Nichols algebras over the symmetric groups S_m, m > 4, are all infinite-dimensional, except (maybe) those related to the transpositions considered by Fomin and Kirillov, resp. Milinski and Schneider, and the class of type (2,3) in S_5.

Nichols algebras of group type with many quadratic relations

We classify Nichols algebras of irreducible Yetter-Drinfeld modules over nonabelian groups satisfying an inequality for the dimension of the homogeneous subspace of degree two. All such Nichols algebras are finite-dimensional, and all known finite-dimensional Nichols algebras of nonabelian group type appear in the result of our classification. We find a new finite-dimensional Nichols algebra over fields of characteristic two.

Pointed Hopf algebras over some sporadic simple groups

Any finite-dimensional complex pointed Hopf algebra with group of group-likes isomorphic to a sporadic group, with the possible exception of the Fischer groups Fi22, the Baby Monster B and the Monster M, is a group algebra.

Finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebras with alternating groups are trivial

It is shown that Nichols algebras over alternating groups A_m, m>4, are infinite dimensional. This proves that any complex finite dimensional pointed Hopf algebra with group of group-likes isomorphic to A_m is isomorphic to the group algebra. In a similar fashion, it is shown that the Nichols algebras over the symmetric groups S_m are all infinite-dimensional, except maybe those related to the transpositions considered in [FK], and the class of type (2,3) in S_5. We also show that any simple rack X arising from a symmetric group, with the exception of a small list, collapse, in the sense that the Nichols algebra of (X,q) is infinite dimensional, for q an arbitrary cocycle. arXiv:0904.3978 is included here.

On Nichols algebras over PGL(2,q) and PSL(2,q)

We compute necessary conditions on Yetter-Drinfeld modules over the groups $\mathbf{PGL}(2,q)=\mathbf{PGL}(2,\FF_q)$ and $\mathbf{PSL}(2,q)=\mathbf{PSL}(2,\FF_q)$ to generate finite dimensional Nichols algebras. This is a first step towards a classification of pointed Hopf algebras with group of group-likes isomorphic to one of these groups. As a by-product of the techniques developed in this work, we prove that there is no non-trivial finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebra over the Mathieu groups $M_{20}$ and $M_{21}=\mathbf{PSL}(3,4)$.

On Nichols algebras over SL(2,Fq) and GL(2,Fq)

We compute necessary conditions on Yetter-Drinfeld modules over the groups SL(2,Fq) and GL(2,Fq) to generate finite dimensional Nichols algebras. This is a first step towards a classification of pointed Hopf algebras with a group of group-likes isomorphic to one of these groups.

On a factorization of graded Hopf algebras using Lyndon words

We find a generalization of the restricted PBW basis for pointed Hopf algebras over abelian groups constructed by Kharchenko. We obtain a factorization of the Hilbert series for a wide class of graded Hopf algebras. These factors are parametrized by Lyndon words, and they are the Hilbert series of certain graded Hopf algebras. Key words: graded Hopf algebra, Nichols algebra, Lyndon word

Quantization of non-unitary geometric classical r-matrices

In this paper we explicitly attach to a geometric classical r-matrix $r$ (not necessarily unitary), a geometric (i.e., set-theoretical) quantum R-matrix $R$, which is a quantization of $r$. To accomplish this, we use the language of bijective cocycle 7-tuples, developed by A. Soloviev in the study of set-theoretical quantum R-matrices. Namely, we define a classical version of bijective cocycle 7-tuples, and show that there is a bijection between them and geometric classical r-matrices. Then we show how any classical bijective cocycle 7-tuple can be quantized, and finally use Soloviev's construction, which turns a (quantum) bijective cocycle 7-tuple into a geometric quantum R-matrix.

Braided Hopf algebras over non abelian finite groups

This is a survey of general aspects of the theory of braided Hopf algebras with emphasis on a special class of braided graded Hopf algebras named tobas. The interest on tobas arises from problems of classification of pointed Hopf algebras. We discuss tobas from different points of view following ideas of Lusztig, Nichols and Schauenburg. We then concentrate on braided Hopf algebras in the Yetter-Drinfeld category over H, where H is the group algebra of a non abelian finite group. We present some finite dimensional examples arising in an unpublished work by Milinski and Schneider.
