Microscopic calculation of thermally-induced spin-transfer torques

Spin-transfer torques induced by temperature gradients in conducting ferromagnets are calculated microscopically for smooth magnetization textures. Temperature gradients are treated a la Luttinger by introducing a fictitious gravitational field that couples to the energy density. The thermal torque coefficients obtained by the Kubo formula contain divergences caused by equilibrium components that should be subtracted before applying the Einstein-Luttinger relation. Only by following this procedure a familiar Mott-like formula is obtained for the dissipative spin-transfer torque. The result indicates that a fictitious field coupled to the entropy rather than energy would solve the issue from the outset.

Dynamics of entanglement of a three-level atom in motion interacting with two coupled modes including parametric down conversion

In this paper, a model by which we study the interaction between a motional three-level atom and two-mode field injected simultaneously in a bichromatic cavity is considered; the three-level atom is assumed to be in a $\Lambda$-type configuration. As a result, the atom-field and the field-field interaction (parametric down conversion) will be appeared. It is shown that, by applying a canonical transformation, the introduced model can be reduced to a well-known form of the generalized Jaynes-Cummings model. Under particular initial conditions, which may be prepared for the atom and the field, the time evolution of state vector of the entire system is analytically evaluated. Then, the dynamics of atom by considering `atomic population inversion' and two different measures of entanglement, i.e., `von Neumann entropy' and `idempotency defect' is discussed, in detail. It is deduced from the numerical results that, the duration and the maximum amount of the considered physical quantities can be suitably tuned by selecting the proper field-mode structure parameter $p$ and the detuning parameters.

Nonclassical properties of coherent states and excited coherent states for continuous spectra

Based on the definition of coherent states for continuous spectra and analogous to photon added coherent states for discrete spectra, we introduce the excited coherent states for continuous spectra. It is shown that, the main axioms of Gazeau-Klauder coherent states will be satisfied, properly. Nonclassical properties and quantum statistics of coherent states, as well as the introduced excited coherent states are discussed. In particular, through the study of quadrature squeezing and amplitude squared squeezing, it will be observed that both classes of the above states can be classified in the intelligent states category.

Generalized coherent states for solvable quantum systems with degenerate discrete spectra and their nonclassical properties

In this paper, the generalized coherent state for quantum systems with degenerate spectra is introduced. Then, the nonclassicality features and number-phase entropic uncertainty relation of two particular degenerate quantum systems are studied. Finally, using the Gazeau-Klauder coherent states approach, time evolution of some of the nonclassical properties of the coherent states corresponding to the considered physical systems are discussed.

Number-phase entropic uncertainty relations and Wigner functions for solvable quantum systems with discrete spectra

In this letter, the number-phase entropic uncertainty relation and the number-phase Wigner function of generalized coherent states associated to a few solvable quantum systems with nondegenerate spectra are studied. We also investigate time evolution of number-phase entropic uncertainty and Wigner function of the considered physical systems with the help of temporally stable Gazeau-Klauder coherent states.

Quantum phase properties associated to solvable quantum systems using the nonlinear coherent states approach

In this paper we study the quantum phase properties of {\it "nonlinear coherent states"} and {\it "solvable quantum systems with discrete spectra"} using the Pegg-Barnett formalism in a unified approach. The presented procedure will then be applied to few special solvable quantum systems with known discrete spectrum as well as to some new classes of nonlinear oscillators with particular nonlinearity functions. Finally the associated phase distributions and their nonclasscial properties such as the squeezing in number and phase operators have been investigated, numerically.

Shot noise in diffusive ferromagnetic metals

We show that shot noise in a diffusive ferromagnetic wire connected by tunnel contacts to two ferromagnetic electrodes can probe the intrinsic density of states and the extrinsic impurity scattering spin-polarization contributions in the polarization of the wire conductivity. The effect is more pronounced when the electrodes are perfectly polarized in opposite directions. While in this case the shot noise has a weak dependence on the impurity scattering polarization, it is strongly affected by the polarization of the density of states. For a finite spin-flip scattering rate the shot noise increases well above the normal state value and can reach the full Poissonian value when the density of states tends to be perfectly polarized. For the parallel configuration we find that the shot noise depends on the relative sign of the intrinsic and the extrinsic polarizations.
