Motion of Charged Spinning Particles in a Unified Field

Using a geometry wider than Riemannian one, the parameterized absolute parallelism (PAP-) geometry, we derived a new curve containing two parameters. In the context of the geometrization philosophy, this new curve can be used as a trajectory of charged spinning test particle in any unified field theory constructed in the PAP-space. We show that imposing certain conditions on the two parameters, the new curve can be reduced to a geodesic curve giving the motion of a scalar test particle or/and a modified geodesic giving the motion of neutral spinning test particle in gravitational field. The new method used for derivation, the Bazanki method, shows a new feature in the new curve equation. This feature is that the equation contains the electromagnetic potential term together with the Lorentz term. We show the importance of this feature in physical applications.

Pure Geometric Field Theory: Description of Gravity and Material Distribution

A field theory is constructed in the context of parameterized absolute parallelism geometry. The theory is shown to be a pure gravity one. It is capable of describing the gravitational field and a material distribution in terms of the geometric structure of the geometry used (the parallelization vector fields). Three tools are used to attribute physical properties to the geometric objects admitted by the theory. Poisson and Laplace equations are obtained in the linearized version of the theory. The spherically symmetric solution of the theory, in free space, is found to coincide with the Schwarzschild exterior solution of the general theory of relativity. The theory respects the weak equivalence principle in free space only. Gravity and material distribution are not minimally coupled.

Einstein Geometrization Philosophy and Differential Identities in PAP-Geometry

The importance of Einstein's geometrization philosophy, as an alternative to the least action principle, in constructing general relativity (GR), is illuminated. The role of differential identities in this philosophy is clarified. The use of Bianchi identity to write the field equations of GR is shown. Another similar identity in the absolute parallelism geometry is given. A more general differential identity in the parameterized absolute parallelism geometry is derived. Comparison and interrelationships between the above mentioned identities and their role in constructing field theories are discussed.

An AP-Structure with Finslerian Flavor: Path Equations

The Bazanski approach for deriving paths is applied to Finsler geometry. The approach is generalized and applied to a new developed geometry called "Absolute parallelism with a Finslerian Flavor" (FAP). A sets of path equations is derived for the FAP. This is the horizontal (h) set. A striking feature appears in this set, that is: the coefficient of torsion term, in the set, jumps by a step of one-half from one equation to the other. This is tempting to believe that the h-set admits some quantum features. Comparisons with the corresponding sets in other geometries are given. Conditions to reduce the set of path equations obtained, to well known path equations in some geometries are summarized in a schematic diagram.

Torsion and Problems of Standard Cosmology

The field equation of orthodox general relativity are written in the context of a geometry with non-vanishing torsion, the Absolute Parallelism (AP) geometry. An AP-structure, with homogeneity and isotropy, is used for cosmological applications. The resulting dynamical equations are those of FRW-Standard cosmology, which have many problems e.g. singularity, particle horizons, ...etc. We suggest a new scheme for investigating the effect of torsion on the dynamics of FRW-Cosmology, without changing the basic structure of general relativity. It is shown that some of these problems will disappear if the torsion, associated with AP-structure used, is inserted in to the dynamical equations. Diagnose shows that problems arise when GR is written in the context of a geometry with vanishing torsion, the Riemannian geometry. This reflects the importance of using more wider geometries in studying physical phenomena.

Strong Field of Binary Systems And Its Effects On Pulsar Arrival Times

In the present work, the exact solution of Einstein's field equations which has been given by Curzon in 1924 representing the field of a static binary system is reviewed. An adapted version of this solution is obtained to describe a dynamical binaries in a rotating coordinate system. It is shown that this version of the solution is time-dependent. It reduces to the later one in the static case if the rotation goes to zero. The original Curzon solution shows that there are two singularities at the two masses, while in the modified version the singularities become on the world-line of the two masses. The solution shows no additional coordinate singularities. The killing vector field of the axial symmetry is obtained in the modified version. In addition, the rotation admits a further rotational symmetry, so a rotation killing vector field is also obtained and discussed. The equations of motion for a test particle in the field of a binary system are formulated and solved. Such equations have been used to study the gravitational time delay of arrival (Shapiro delay) of signals from binary pulsar systems resulted from our suggested modifications containing additional terms. These terms are interpreted as higher order corrections to the masses. In particular we investigate the gravito-magnetic effect due to orbital angular motion of the double pulsars. We give numerical estimates of this type of the time delay in the case of the double-pulsar system PSR J0737-3039 A/B. We draw a model curve for the gravito-magnetic time delay during one orbital revolution. We suggest that this type of delay will have a larger contribution during the last phase of the system evolution.

Cosmological applications in Kaluza-Klein theory

The field equations of Kaluza-Klein (KK) theory have been applied in the domain of cosmology. These equations are solved for a flat universe by taking the gravitational and the cosmological constants as a function of time t. We use Taylor's expansion of cosmological function, $Λ(t)$, up to the first order of the time $t$. The cosmological parameters are calculated and some cosmological problems are discussed.

A Pure Geometric Approach to Stellar Structure

The present work represents a step to deal with stellar structure using a pure geometric approach. A geometric field theory is used to construct a model for a spherically symmetric configuration. The model obtained can be considered as a pure geometric one in the sense that the tensor describing the material distributions is not a phenomenological object, but a part of the geometric structure used. A general equation of state is obtained from, and not imposed on, the model. The solution obtained shows that there are different zones characterizing the configuration: a central radiation dominant zone, a probable convection zone as a physical interpretation of the singularity of the model and a corona like zone. The model may represent a type of main sequence stars. The present work shows that Einstein's geometerization scheme can be extended to gain more physical information within material distribution, with some advantages.

An AP-Structure with Finslerian Flavor II: Torsion, Curvature and Other Objects

An absolute parallelism (AP-) space having Finslerian properties is called FAP-space. This FAP-structure is more wider than both conventional AP and Finsler structures. In the present work, more geometric objects as curvature and torsion tensors are derived in the context of this structure. Also second order tensors, usually needed for physical applications, are derived and studied. Furthermore, the anti-curvature and the W-tensor are defined for the FAP-structure. Relations between Riemannian, AP, Finsler and FAP structures are given. These relations facilitate comparison between results of applications carried out in the framework of these structures. We hope that the use of the FAP-structure, in applications may throw some light on some of the problems facing geometric field theories.

Telleparallel Lagrange Geometry and a Unified Field Theory: Linearization of the Field Equations

The present paper is a natural continuation of our previous paper: "Teleparallel Lagrange geometry and a unified field theory, Class. Quantum Grav., 27 (2010), 045005 (29pp)" \cite{WNA}. In this paper, we apply a linearization scheme on the field equations obtained in \cite{WNA}. Three important results under the linearization assumption are accomplished. First, the vertical fundamental geometric objects of the EAP-space loose their dependence on the positional argument $x$. Secondly, our linearized theory in the Cartan-type case coincides with the GFT in the first order of approximation. Finally, an approximate solution of the vertical field equations is obtained.

Lense-Thirring Field and the Solar Limb Effect

Solar-Limb Effect is an observational phenomena connected to the solar gravitational red-shift. It shows a variation of the magnitude of the gravitational red-shift from the center to the limb of the solar disc. In the present work an attempt, for interpreting this phenomena using a general relativistic red-shift formula, is given . This formula takes into account the effect of the the Sun's gravitational field, the effect of the solar rotation, the effect of inclination of the line of sight and the motion of the observer. In this study the gravitational field of the Sun is assumed to be given by Lense-Thirring field instead of the Schwarzschild one. The Earth is assumed to move along an elliptic orbit. Comparison with a previous relativistic study and with observation is given.

Teleparallel Lagrange Geometry and a Unified Field Theory

In this paper, we construct a field theory unifying gravity and electromagnetism in the context of Extended Absolute Parallelism (EAP-) geometry. This geometry combines, within its structure, the geometric richness of the tangent bundle and the mathematical simplicity of Absolute Parallelism (AP-) geometry. The constructed field theory is a generalization of the Generalized Field Theory (GFT) formulated by Mikhail and Wanas. The theory obtained is purely geometric. The horizontal (resp. vertical) field equations are derived by applying the Euler-Lagrange equations to an appropriate horizontal (resp. vertical) scalar Lagrangian. The symmetric part of the resulting horizontal (resp. vertical) field equations gives rise to a generalized form of Einstein's field equations in which the horizontal (resp. vertical) energy-momentum tensor is purely geometric. The skew-symmetric part of the resulting horizontal (resp. vertical) field equations gives rise to a generalized form of Maxwell equations in which the electromagnetic field is purely geometric. Some interesting special cases, which reveal the role of the nonlinear connection in the obtained field equations, are examined. Finally, the condition under which our constructed field equations reduce to the GFT is explicitly established.

Space-Time Structure and Electromagnetism

Two Lagrangian functions are used to construct geometric field theories. One of these Lagrangians depends on the curvature of space, while the other depends on curvature and torsion. It is shown that the theory constructed from the first Lagrangian gives rise to pure gravity, while the theory constructed using the second Lagrangian gives rise to both gravity and electromagnetism. The two theories are constructed in a version of absolute parallelism geometry in which both curvature and torsion are, simultaneously, non-vanishing. One single geometric object, {\it W-tensor}, reflecting the properties of curvature and torsion, is defined in this version and is used to construct the second theory. The main conclusion is that a necessary condition for geometric representation of electromagnetism is the presence of a non-vanishing torsion in the geometry used.

Dark Energy: A Missing Physical Ingredient

Recent observation of supernovae type Ia show clearly that there is a large scale repulsive force in the Universe. Neither of the four known fundamental interactions can account for this repulsive force. Gravity is known to be the interaction responsible for the large scale structure and evolution of the Universe. The problem with gravity is that it gives rise to a force which is attractive only. Gravity theories, including General Relativity, deals with gravity as an attractive force. Although this is consistent with our experience in the solar system and other similar astrophysical systems, gravity theories fail to account for SN type Ia observation. So, we are in a real problem concerning the interpretation of these observation. This problem is only ten years old. In order to go out of this problematic situation, scientists have suggested the existence of a type of energy in the Universe that is responsible for the above mentioned repulsive force. They have given this type of energy the exotic term {\it "Dark Energy"}. Although this type of energy forms more than two thirds of the energetic contents of our Universe, its reasonable nature is missing in all gravity theories. The aim of the present work is to review the present status of the problem of dark energy. Also, to suggest a new geometric solution for this problem.

Effect of Spin-Torsion Interaction on Raychaudhuri Equation

Raychaudhuri equation is generalized in the parameterized absolute parallelism geometry. This version of absolute parallelism is more general than the conventional one. The generalization takes into account the suggested interaction between the quantum spin of the moving elementary particle and the torsion of the background gravitational field. The generalized Raychaudhuri equation obtained contains some extra terms, depending on the torsion of space-time, that would have some effects on the singularity theorems of general relativity. Under a certain condition, this equation could be reduced to the original Raychaudhuri equation without any need for a vanishing torsion.

The Accelerating Expansion of the Universe and Torsion Energy

In the present work, it is shown that the problem of the accelerating expansion of the Universe can be directly solved by applying Einstein geometrization philosophy in a wider geometry. The geometric structure used to fulfil the aim of the work is a version of Absolute Parallelism geometry in which curvature and torsion are simultaneously non vanishing objects. It is shown that, while the energy corresponding to the curvature of space- time gives rise to an attractive force, the energy corresponding to the torsion indicates the presence of a repulsive force. A fine tuning parameter can be adjusted to give the observed phenomena.

An Ap-Structure with Finslerian Flavor: I

A geometric structure (FAP-structure), having both absolute parallelism and Finsler properties, is constructed. The building blocks of this structures are assumed to be functions of position and direction. A non-linear connection emerges naturally and is defined in terms of the building blocks of the structure. Two linear connections, one of Berwald type and the other of the Cartan type, are defined using the non-linear connection of the FAP. Both linear connections are non-symmetric and consequently admit torsion. A metric tensor is defined in terms of the building blocks of the structure. The condition for this metric to be a Finslerian one is obtained. Also, the condition for an FAP-space to be an AP-one is given.
