Wavelet Analysis of Galactic Rotation Curves

The spatial wavelet spectra of 73 published spiral galaxies's rotation curves are computed and their associated scaleograms are presented. Scaleograms are used to detect and isolate local features observed in spiral galaxies's rotation curves. Although wiggles and bumps are usually interpreted as signs of recent and on-going merging, the analysis of the scaleograms reveals regular patterns consistent with the presence of large-scale modes throughout the disk.

Longitudinal Dependance Of Solsticial Hadley Cell Detected At The Edge Of The Massive Martian Erg

Using public HIRISE images of MARS, I derive the wind directions at high Northern lattitudes, where many interesting eolian features are observed. BArchan dunes show prominent wind direction from the North indicating that they formed during the southern summer. But a few record consistent SE winds near the UTOPIA PLANITIA basin. The wind reversal is consistent with a local perturbation of the solsticial Hadley cell caused by geological depression.

Late-time anisotropy and radiation drag within the cosmic microwave background

I investigate the effect of the radiation drag force on a star moving relative to the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) at z = 0. As expected, the perturbation is extremely small and has no observable consequences on orbital motions of stars within a galaxy or on orbital motions of galaxies within a cluster. The energy dissipated by cubic meter in a galaxy via this mechanism is 10^{14} smaller than the energy density of the CMB and, thus, is a negligible source of anisotropy. However, from the last scattering surface to population III stars (30 < z < 1000), radiation drag on particles may have played a major role in the apparition of anisotropy and rapid formation of densities.

Perturbation of heliosynchronous orbits in stable Kaluza-Klein theory

Although the methods and techniques have been greatly improved since the late nineteenth century, the precision on the measurement of the gravitational constant G does not exceed 1 part in 1000. Intrinsic variations of G caused by the geomagnetic field may explain the observed dispersion of the laboratory measurements. This involves a coupling between gravitation and electromagnetism (hereafter GE coupling) and a dependance of the effective G constant with latitude and longitude. In this paper I analyse the effects of this coupling in the framework of classical space mechanics by focusing on heliosynchronous orbits. The predictions are found inconsistent with experimental data from the SPOT mission.

Line Density Indice as an alternative to MK process

73 broadband optical spectra of dwarf stars later than F0 have been obtained from the Nearby Stars Project website. The number of absorption lines is computed for each spectrum between 6000 and 6200 Angstrom. A correlation is found between the density of lines K$λ$ and the spectral type. This method is independent of calibration process, does not require high resolution or high signal to noise data and does not make use of a large library of standard spectra.
