The first power spectrum limit on the 21-cm signal of neutral hydrogen during the Cosmic Dawn at z=20-25 from LOFAR

Observations of the redshifted 21-cm hyperfine line of neutral hydrogen from early phases of the Universe such as Cosmic Dawn and the Epoch of Reionization promise to open a new window onto the early formation of stars and galaxies. We present the first upper limits on the power spectrum of redshifted 21-cm brightness temperature fluctuations in the redshift range $z = 19.8 - 25.2$ ($54-68$ MHz frequency range) using 14 hours of data obtained with the LOFAR-Low Band Antenna (LBA) array. We also demonstrate the application of a multiple pointing calibration technique to calibrate the LOFAR-LBA dual-pointing observations centred on the North Celestial Pole and the radio galaxy 3C220.3. We observe an unexplained excess of $\sim 30-50\%$ in Stokes $I$ noise compared to Stokes $V$ for the two observed fields, which decorrelates on $\gtrsim 12$ seconds and might have a physical origin. We show that enforcing smoothness of gain errors along frequency direction during calibration reduces the additional variance in Stokes $I$ compared Stokes $V$ introduced by the calibration on sub-band level. After subtraction of smooth foregrounds, we achieve a $2σ$ upper limit on the 21-cm power spectrum of $Δ_{21}^2 < (14561\,\text{mK})^2$ at $k\sim 0.038\,h\,\text{cMpc}^{-1}$ and $Δ_{21}^2 < (14886\,\text{mK})^2$ at $k\sim 0.038 \,h\,\text{cMpc}^{-1}$ for the 3C220 and NCP fields respectively and both upper limits are consistent with each other. The upper limits for the two fields are still dominated by systematics on most $k$ modes.

The CLIC Potential for New Physics

The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a mature option for the future of high energy physics. It combines the benefits of the clean environment of $e^+e^-$ colliders with operation at high centre-of-mass energies, allowing to probe scales beyond the reach of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for many scenarios of new physics. This places the CLIC project at a privileged spot in between the precision and energy frontiers, with capabilities that will significantly extend knowledge on both fronts at the end of the LHC era. In this report we review and revisit the potential of CLIC to search, directly and indirectly, for physics beyond the Standard Model.

Resonant Slepton Production Yields CMS $eejj$ and $ejj$ Missing $p_T$ Excesses

Recent CMS searches for di-leptoquark production report local excesses of 2.4$σ$ in a $eejj$ channel and 2.6$σ$ in a $ejj$ missing $p_T$ channel. Here, we simultaneously explain both excesses with resonant slepton production in ${\mathcal R}-$parity violating supersymmetry (SUSY). We consider resonant slepton production, which decays to a lepton and a chargino/neutralino, followed by three-body decays of the neutralino/chargino via an $\mathcal{R}-$parity violating coupling. There are regions of parameter space which are also compatible at the 95% confidence level (CL) with a 2.8$σ$ $eejj$ excess in a recent CMS $W_R$ search, while being compatible with other direct search constraints. Phase-II of the GERDA neutrinoless double beta decay ($0νββ$) experiment will probe a sizeable portion of the good-fit region.

MIMO Detection Algorithms for High Data Rate Wireless Transmission

Motivated by MIMO broad-band fading channel model, in this section a comparative study is presented regarding various uncoded adaptive and non-adaptive MIMO detection algorithms with respect to BER/PER performance, and hardware complexity. All the simulations are conducted within MIMO-OFDM framework and with a packet structure similar to that of IEEE 802.11a/g standard. As the comparison results show, the RLS algorithm appears to be an affordable solution for wideband MIMO system targeting at Giga-bit wireless transmission. So MIMO can overcome huge processing power required for MIMO detection by using optimizing channel coding and MIMO detection.

Capacity Optimized For Multicarrier OFDM-MIMO Antenna Systems

Motivated by MIMO broad-band fading channel model, in this section we deals with the capacity behaviour of wireless MIMO and OFDM based spatial multiplexing systems in broad-band fading environments for the case where the channel is unknown at the transmitter and perfectly known at the receiver. This influence the propagation and system parameters on ergodic capacity, we furthermore demonstrate that, unlike the single-input single-output (SISO) case, delay spread channels may provide advantage over flat-fading channels not only in terms of outage capacity but also in terms of ergodic capacity. Therefore, MIMO delay spread channels will in general provide both higher diversity gain and higher multiplexing gain than MIMO flat-fading channels.

Modelling and Implementation of ITWS: An ultimate solution to ITS

Casualties due to traffic accidents are increasing day by day. Think of this message being displayed on your computer screen while you were driving "there's a possibility of collision with a car in the next few minutes if you go on driving with this speed and direction". Our research is intended towards developing collision avoidance architecture for the latest Intelligent Transport System. The exchange of safety messages among vehicles and with infrastructure devices poses major challenges. Specially, safety messages have to be adaptively distributed within a certain range of a basically unbounded system. These messages are to be well coordinated and processed via different algorithms. The purpose of the paper is to discuss the ITWS (intelligent transportation warning system), we have discussed the Assisted Global Positioning System(AGPS) system providing additional positioning information at variable conditions. We have also discussed study the Data fusion and kalaman filter in details. The performance of kalman filter and output are discussed. Hardware realization of this model is achieved through software defined radio (SDR).

Optimization of MIMO detectors: Unleashing the multiplexing gain

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems have recently emerged as a key technology in wireless communication systems for increasing both data rates and system performance. There are many schemes that can be applied to MIMO systems such as space time block codes, space time trellis codes, and the Vertical Bell Labs Space-Time Architecture (V-BLAST). This paper proposes a novel signal detector scheme called MIMO detectors to enhance the performance in MIMO channels. We study the general MIMO system, the general V-BLAST architecture with Maximum Likelihood (ML), Zero- Forcing (ZF), Minimum Mean- Square Error (MMSE), and Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) detectors and simulate this structure in Rayleigh fading channel. Also compares the performances of MIMO system with different modulation techniques in Fading and AWGN channels. Base on frame error rates and bit error rates, we compare the performance and the computational complexity of these schemes with other existence model.Simulations shown that V-BLAST implements a detection technique, i.e. SIC receiver, based on ZF or MMSE combined with symbol cancellation and optimal ordering to improve the performance with lower complexity, although ML receiver appears to have the best SER performance-BLAST achieves symbol error rates close to the ML scheme while retaining the lowcomplexity nature of the V-BLAST.

Orbital ordering in undoped manganites via a generalized Peierls instability

We study the ground state orbital ordering of $LaMnO_3$, at weak electron-phonon coupling, when the spin state is A-type antiferromagnet. We determine the orbital ordering by extending to our Jahn-Teller system a recently developed Peierls instability framework for the Holstein model [1]. By using two-dimensional dynamic response functions corresponding to a mixed Jahn-Teller mode, we establish that the $Q_2$ mode determines the orbital order.
