Complete Integration of Team Project-based Learning into a Database Syllabus

Team project-based learning (TPBL) combines two learning techniques: project-based learning (PBL) and teamwork. This combination leverages the learning outcomes of both methods and places students in a real work situation where they must develop and solve a real project while working as a team. TPBL has been used in two advanced database subjects in Jaume I University (UJI)'s Computer Science degree program. This learning method was used for four years (academic years from 2018/19 to 2021/2022) with positive outcomes. This study presents the project development, which includes teamwork formation, activities, timetable, and exercised learning competencies (both soft and specific). Further, the project's results were evaluated from three different perspectives: a) teamwork evaluation by teammates, b) Students' opinions on the subject and project, and c) subject final grades.

Neutron Imaging Based on Transfer Foil Activation and COTS CMOS Image Sensors

In this paper we present a method for obtention of neutron images with Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) CMOS image sensors through the activation of indium foils. This detection method has been designed specifically for the acquisition of thermal and epitermal neutron images in mixed beams with a high gamma flux, and also for the study of high radioactive samples that are usually placed into research reactor pools. We also present a technique to obtain multi-spectral neutron images taking advantage of the high neutron absorption cross-section of this material in the thermal energy range, as well as around the 1.45 eV resonance. Measurements performed in a neutron beam of the RA6 nuclear research reactor located in Bariloche, Argentina, confirm the capability of the proposed technique.

Mean convergence of Fourier-Dunkl series

In the context of the Dunkl transform a complete orthogonal system arises in a very natural way. This paper studies the weighted norm convergence of the Fourier series expansion associated to this system. We establish conditions on the weights, in terms of the $A_p$ classes of Muckenhoupt, which ensure the convergence. Necessary conditions are also proved, which for a wide class of weights coincide with the sufficient conditions.

Heat and Poisson semigroups for Fourier-Neumann expansions

Given $α> -1$, consider the second order differential operator in $(0,\infty)$, $$L_αf \equiv (x^2 \frac{d^2}{dx^2} + (2α+3)x \frac{d}{dx} + x^2 + (α+1)^2)(f), $$ which appears in the theory of Bessel functions. The purpose of this paper is to develop the corresponding harmonic analysis taking $L_α$ as the analogue to the classical Laplacian. Namely we study the boundedness properties of the heat and Poisson semigroups. These boundedness properties allow us to obtain some convergence results that can be used to solve the Cauchy problem for the corresponding heat and Poisson equations.
