Generally covariant quantum mechanics on noncommutative configuration spaces

We generalize the previously given algebraic version of "Feynman's proof of Maxwell's equations" to noncommutative configuration spaces. By doing so, we also obtain an axiomatic formulation of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics over such spaces, which, in contrast to most examples discussed in the literature, does not rely on a distinguished set of coordinates. We give a detailed account of several examples, e.g., of nonabelian Yang-Mills theories, and of noncommutative tori. Moreover we, examine models over the Moyal-deformed plane. Assuming the conservation of electrical charges, we show that in this case the canonical uncertainty relation [x_k, \dot{x}_l] = ig_{kl} with metric g_{kl} is only consistent if g_{kl} is constant.

The spin-statistics relation in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics and projective modules

In this work we consider non-relativistic quantum mechanics, obtained from a classical configuration space Q of indistinguishable particles. Following an approach proposed by one of the authors, wave functions are regarded as elements of suitable projective modules over C(Q). We take furthermore into account the G-Theory point of view, where the role of group action is particularly emphasized. As an example illustrating the method, the case of two particles is worked out in detail. Previous works aiming at a proof of a spin-statistics theorem for non-relativistic quantum mechanics are re-considered from the point of view of our approach, enabling us to clarify several points.

Moduli spaces of discrete gravity I: A few points

Spectral triples describe and generalize Riemannian spin geometries by converting the geometrical information into algebraic data, which consist of an algebra $A$, a Hilbert space $H$ carrying a representation of $A$ and the Dirac operator $D$ (a selfadjoint operator acting on $H$). The gravitational action is described by the trace of a suitable function of $D$. In this paper we examine the (path-integral-) quantization of such a system given by a finite dimensional commutative algebra. It is then (in concrete examples) possible to construct the moduli space of the theory, i.e. to divide the space of all Dirac operators by the action of the diffeomorphism group, and to construct an invariant measure on this space. We discuss expectation values of various observables and demonstrate some interesting effects such as the effect of coupling the system to Fermions (which renders finite quantities in cases, where the Bosons alone would give infinite quantities) or the striking effect of spontaneous breaking of spectral invariance.

A Spectral Quadruple for de Sitter Space

A set of data supposed to give possible axioms for spacetimes with a sufficient number of isometries in spectral geometry is given. These data are shown to be sufficient to obtain 1+1 dimensional de Sitter spacetime. The data rely at the moment somewhat on the guidance given by a required symmetry, in part to allow explicit calculations in a specific model. The framework applies also to the noncommutative case. Finite spectral triples are discussed as an example.

Leptonic Generation Mixing, Noncommutative Geometry and Solar Neutrino Fluxes

Triangular mass matrices for neutrinos and their charged partners contain full information on neutrino mixing in a most concise form. Although the scheme is general and model independent, triangular matrices are typical for reducible but indecomposable representations of graded Lie algebras which, in turn, are characteristic for the standard model in noncommutative geometry. The mixing matrix responsible for neutrino oscillations is worked out analytically for two and three lepton families. The example of two families fixes the mixing angle to just about what is required by the Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein resonance oscillation of solar neutrinos. In the case of three families we classify all physically plausible choices for the neutrino mass matrix and derive interesting bounds on some of the moduli of the mixing matrix.

Mass relations in noncommutative geometry revisited

We generalize the notion of the 'noncommutative coupling constant' given by Kastler and Sch"ucker by dropping the constraint that it commute with the Dirac-operator. This leads essentially to the vanishing of the lower bound for the Higgsmass and of the upper bound for the W-mass.
