Integral Transforms and $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric Hamiltonians

Motivated by the fact that twice the Fourier transform plays the role of parity operator. We systematically study integral transforms in the case of $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric Hamiltonian. First, we obtain a closed analytical formula for the exponential Fourier transform of a general $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric Hamiltonian. Using the Segal-Bargmann transform, we investigate the effect of the Fourier transform on the eigenfunctions of the original Hamiltonian. As an immediate application, we comment on the holomorphic representation of non-Hermitian spin chains, in which the Hamiltonian operator is written in terms of analytical phase-space coordinates and their partial derivatives in the Bargmann space rather than matrices in the vector Hilbert space. Finally, we discuss the effect of integral transforms in the study of the Swanson Hamiltonian.

Bargmann Representation of Spin Chains

Spin chain Hamiltonians can be written in terms of complex differential operators using the Bargmann representation of the Jordan-Schwinger map. In this case, the eigenfunctions are expressed as the product of orthonormal monomials of the phase-space coordinates $z_{i}=Q_{i}+i P_{i}$ in the complex plane. Furthermore, the series constructed from each phase-space coordinate converges uniformly in any compact domain of the complex plane. Formulating spin chains with respect to the phase-space coordinates helps in discussing their classical limit and in the calculations of quasi-probability distributions.

Quantum Decomposition Algorithm For Master Equations of Stochastic Processes: The Damped Spin Case

We introduce a quantum decomposition algorithm (QDA) that decomposes the problem $\frac{\partial ρ}{\partial t}=\mathcal{L}ρ=λρ$ into a summation of eigenvalues times phase-space variables. One interesting feature of QDA stems from its ability to simulate damped spin systems by means of pure quantum harmonic oscillators adjusted with the eigenvalues of the original eigenvalue problem. We test the proposed algorithm in the case of undriven qubit with spontaneous emission and dephasing.

Bargmann representation of quantum absorption refrigerators

In this work, we solve the quantum absorption refrigerator analytically in the space of holomorphic functions with Gaussian measure . Our approach simplifies the calculations since for a given quantum system the coordinate representation of any quantum state is always more complicated than its corresponding expression written with respect to the phase-space coordinate $z_{i}$. We finally discuss the computational complexity of the holomorphic representation and compare it with the computational complexity of the standard operator method and prove the efficiency of the holomorphic representation in computing some tasks. Our treatment is applicable to all quantum heat engines and refrigerators.

Deformed Kac-Moody Algebra and Noncommutative Fermi Theory in Two-Dimensions

Starting from noncommutative Fermi theory in two-dimensions, we construct a deformed Kac-Moody algebra between its vector and Chiral currents . The higher-order corrections to the deformed Kac-Moody algebra are explicitly calculated. We observe that the ordinary Schwinger terms are not affected by noncommutativity. Finally we conclude that the deformed Kac-Moody algebra can be given in term of ordinary Kac-Moody algebra plus infinitely many Lie algebraic structures at each non-zero power of the antisymmetric coefficient $θ$.

Continuous-variable Quantum Key Distribution protocols with eight-state discrete modulation

We propose a continuous variable quantum key distribution protocol based on discrete modulation of eight-state coherent states. We present a rigorous security proof against the collective attacks considering both of realistic lossy, noisy quantum channels, imperfect detector efficiency, and detector electronic noise. This protocol shows high tolerance against excess noise and it is promising to achieve hundreds distance long in optical fiber base.

Quantum phase properties of two-mode Jaynes-Cummings model for Schrödinger-cat states: interference and entanglement

In this paper we investigate the quantum phase properties for the coherent superposition states (Schrödinger-cat states) for two-mode multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings model in the framework of the Pegg-Barnett formalism. We also demonstrate the behavior of the Wigner ($W$) function at the phase space origin. We obtain many interesting results such as there is a clear relationship between the revival-collapse phenomenon occurring in the atomic inversion (as well as in the evolution of the $W$ function) and the behavior of the phase distribution of both the single-mode and two-mode cases. Furthermore, we find that the phase variances of the single-mode case can exhibit revival-collapse phenomenon about the long-time behavior. We show that such behavior occurs for interaction time several times smaller than that of the single-mode Jaynes-Cummings model.

Blind encoding into qudits

We consider the problem of encoding classical information into unknown qudit states belonging to any basis, of a maximal set of mutually unbiased bases, by one party and then decoding by another party who has perfect knowledge of the basis. Working with qudits of prime dimensions, we point out a no-go theorem that forbids shift operations on arbitrary unknown states. We then provide the necessary conditions for reliable encoding/decoding.

Deterministic Rendering of BB84 for Practical Quantum Cryptography

We describe how to modify the BB84 protocol for quantum cryptography in order to make it deterministic. We study both theoretical and experimental aspects of this issue, showing that the new scheme is as secure as the old one, more efficient on small-scale distances, and within the range of current technology.

Secure Quantum Telephones

We propose in this paper a novel deterministic protocol using particular maximally entangled states of polarized photons for a genuine bidirectional secure communication setup. We further propose a plausible experimental setup for such a protocol using currently available optical technology which liberates two communicating party from sharing identical apparatus. We note that security of the protocol is promised by the monogamous nature of maximally entangled states. We discuss the security of our protocol in the light of some simple eavesdropping scenarios.

Entanglement in the bimodal Jaynes-Cummings model with the two-mode squeezed vacuum state

In this paper, we study the interaction between the two-level atom and a bimodal cavity field, namely, two-mode Jaynes-Cummings model when the atom and the modes are initially in the atomic superposition state and two-mode squeezed vacuum state, respectively. For this system we investigate the atomic inversion, linear entropy and atomic Wehrl entropy. We show that there is a connection between all these quantities. Also we prove that the atomic Wehrl entropy exhibits behaviors similar to those of the linear entropy and the von Neumann entropy. Moreover, we show that the bipartite exhibits periodical disentanglement and derive the explicit forms of the states of the atom and the modes at these values of the interaction times.

Squeezing in multi-mode nonlinear optical state truncation

In this paper, we show that multi-mode qubit states produced via nonlinear optical state truncation driven by classical external pumpings exhibit squeezing condition. We restrict our discussions to the two and three-mode cases.

Generation of three-qubit entangled states using coupled multi-quantum dots

We discuss a mechanism for generating a maximum entangled state (GHZ) in a coupled quantum dots system, based on analytical techniques. The reliable generation of such states is crucial for implementing solid-state based quantum information schemes. The signature originates from a remarkably weak field pulse or a far off-resonance effects which could be implemented using technology that is currently being developed. The results are illustrated with an application to a specific wide-gap semiconductor quantum dots system, like Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) based quantum dots.

Entanglement manipulation for mixed states in a multilevel atom interacting with a cavity field

We derive an explicit formula for an entanglement measure of mixed quantum states in a multi-level atom interacting with a cavity field within the framework of the quantum mutual entropy. We describe its theoretical basis and discuss its practical relevance (especially in comparison with already known pure state results). The effect of the number of levels involved on the entanglement is demonstrated via examples of three-, four- and five-level atom. Numerical calculations under current experimental conditions are performed and it is found that the number of levels present changes the general features of entanglement dramatically.

Spin squeezing as a measure of entanglement in a two qubit system

We show that two definitions of spin squeezing extensively used in the literature [M. Kitagawa and M. Ueda, Phys. Rev. A {\bf 47}, 5138 (1993) and D.J. Wineland {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. A {\bf 50}, 67 (1994)] give different predictions of entanglement in the two-atom Dicke system. We analyze differences between the definitions and show that the Kitagawa and Ueda's spin squeezing parameter is a better measure of entanglement than the commonly used spectroscopic spin squeezing parameter. We illustrate this relation by examining different examples of a driven two-atom Dicke system in which spin squeezing and entanglement arise dynamically. We give an explanation of the source of the difference in the prediction of entanglement using the negativity criterion for entanglement. For the examples discussed, we find that the Kitagawa and Ueda's spin squeezing parameter is the sufficient and necessary condition for entanglement.

Entanglement and spin squeezing in the two-atom Dicke model

We analyze the relation between the entanglement and spin-squeezing parameter in the two-atom Dicke model and identify the source of the discrepancy recently reported by Banerjee and Zhou et al that one can observe entanglement without spin squeezing. Our calculations demonstrate that there are two criteria for entanglement, one associated with the two-photon coherences that create two-photon entangled states, and the other associated with populations of the collective states. We find that the spin-squeezing parameter correctly predicts entanglement in the two-atom Dicke system only if it is associated with two-photon entangled states, but fails to predict entanglement when it is associated with the entangled symmetric state. This explicitly identifies the source of the discrepancy and explains why the system can be entangled without spin-squeezing. We illustrate these findings in three examples of the interaction of the system with thermal, classical squeezed vacuum and quantum squeezed vacuum fields.

Wehrl information entropy and phase distributions of Schrodinger cat and cat-like states

The Wehrl information entropy and its phase density, the so-called Wehrl phase distribution, are applied to describe Schrödinger cat and cat-like (kitten) states. The advantages of the Wehrl phase distribution over the Wehrl entropy in a description of the superposition principle are presented. The entropic measures are compared with a conventional phase distribution from the Husimi Q-function. Compact-form formulae for the entropic measures are found for superpositions of well-separated states. Examples of Schrödinger cats (including even, odd and Yurke-Stoler coherent states), as well as the cat-like states generated in Kerr medium are analyzed in detail. It is shown that, in contrast to the Wehrl entropy, the Wehrl phase distribution properly distinguishes between different superpositions of unequally-weighted states in respect to their number and phase-space configuration.
