Decoherence effects on multiplayer cooperative quantum games

We study the behavior of cooperative multiplayer quantum games [35,36] in the presence of decoherence using different quantum channels such as amplitude damping, depolarizing and phase damping. It is seen that the outcomes of the games for the two damping channels with maximum values of decoherence reduce to same value. However, in comparison to phase damping channel, the payoffs of cooperators are strongly damped under the influence\ amplitude damping channel for\ the lower values of decoherence parameter. In the case of depolarizing channel, the game is a no-payoff game irrespective of the degree of entanglement in the initial state for the larger values of decoherence parameter. The decoherence gets the cooperators worse off.

Proper curvature collineations in non-static plane symmetric space-times

The most general form of non-static plane symmetric space-times is considered to study proper curvature collineations by using the rank of the 6X6 Riemann matrix and direct integration techniques. Studying proper curvature collineations in each non static case of the above space-times it is shown that when the above space-times admit proper curvature collineations, they form an infinite dimensional vector space.

Classification of non conformally flat cylindrically symmetric non static space-times according to their proper conformal motions

In this paper we considered the most general form of non conformally flat cylindrically symmetric non-static space-times to study proper conformal motions using direct integration technique. We have shown that very special classes for cylindrically symmetric space-times admit proper conformal motions. This classification also covers non-static and static plane symmetric space-times. In [9] it was claimed that non conformally flat plane symmetric static space-times do not admit proper conformal motion. Here it is also shown that static and non static plane symmetric space-times admit proper conformal motions. We also discuss the Lie algebra in each case.

Environment-assisted quantum Minority games

The effect of entanglement and correlated noise in a four-player quantum Minority game is investigated. Different time correlated quantum memory channels are considered to analyze the Nash equilibrium payoff of the 1st player. It is seen that the Nash equilibrium payoff is substantially enhanced due to the presence of correlated noise. The behaviour of damping channels (amplitude damping and phase damping) is approximately similar. However, bit-phase flip channel heavily influences the minority game as compared to other channels in the presence of correlated noise. On the other hand, phase flip channel has a symmetrical behaviour around 50% noise threshold. The significant reduction in payoffs due to decoherence is well compensated due to the presence of correlated noise. However, the Nash equilibrium of the game does not change in the presence of noise. It is seen that in case of generalized amplitude damping channel, entanglement plays a significant role at lower level of decoherence. The channel has less dominant effects on the payoff at higher values of decoherence. Furthermore, amplitude damping and generalized amplitude damping channels have almost comparable effects at lower level of decoherence $(p<0.5)$. Therefore, the game deserves careful study during its implementation due to prominent role of noise for different channels.

Decoherence dynamics of geometric measure of quantum discord and measurement-induced nonlocality for noninertial observers at finite temperature

Quantum discord quantifies the total non-classical correlations in mixed states. It is the difference between total correlation, measured by quantum mutual information, and the classical correlation. Another step forward towards the quantification of quantum discord was by Dakic, Vedral, and Brukner [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105,190502 (2010)] who introduced the geometric measure of quantum discord (GMQD) and derived an explicit formula for a two-qubit state. Recently, Luo and Fu [Phys. Rev. Lett. 106, 120401 (2011)] introduced measurement-induced nonlocality (MIN) as a measure of nonlocality for a bipartite quantum system. The dynamics of GMQD is recently considered by Song et al. [arXiv: quant/ph.1203.3356] and Zhang et al. [Eur. Phys. J. D 66, 34 (2012)] for inertial observers. However, the topic requires due attention in noninertial frames, particularly, from the perspective of MIN. Here I consider X-structured bipartite quantum system in noninertial frames and analyze the decoherence dynamics of GMQD and MIN at finite temperature. The dynamics under the influence of amplitude damping, depolarizing and phase flip channels is discussed. It is worth-noting that initial state entanglement plays an important role in bipartite states. It is possible to distinguish the Bell, Werner and general type initial quantum states using GMQD. Sudden transition in the behaviour of GMQD and MIN occurs depending upon the mean photon number of the local environment. The transition behaviour disappears for larger values of n, i.e. n>0.3. It becomes more prominent, when environmental noise is introduced in the system. ......

Decoherence and multipartite entanglement of non-inertial observers

Decoherence effect on multipartite entanglement in non-inertial frames is investigated. GHZ state is considered to be shared between the partners with one partner in inertial frame whereas the other two in accelerated frames. One-tangle and π-tangles are used to quantify the entanglement of the multipartite system influenced by phase damping and phase flip channels. It is seen that for phase damping channel, entanglement sudden death (ESD) occurs for p>0.5 in the infinite acceleration limit. On the other hand, in case of phase flip channel, ESD behaviour happens around 50% decoherence. It is also seen that entanglement sudden birth (ESB) does occur in case of phase flip channel. Furthermore, it is seen that effect of environment on multipartite entanglement is much stronger than that of the acceleration of non-inertial frames.

Entanglement dynamics of non-inertial observers in a correlated environment

Effect of decoherence and correlated noise on the entanglement of X-type state of the Dirac fields in the non-inertial frame is investigated. A two qubit X-state is considered to be shared between the partners where Alice is in inertial frame and Rob in an accelerated frame. The concurrence is used to quantify the entanglement of the X-state system influenced by time correlated amplitude damping, depolarizing and bit flip channels. It is seen that amplitude damping and bit flip channels heavily influence the entanglement of the system as compared to the depolarizing channel. It is found possible to avoid entanglement sudden death (ESD) for all the channels under consideration for μ>0.75 for any type of initial state. No ESD behaviour is seen for depolarizing channel in the presence of correlated noise for entire range of decoherence parameter p and Rob's acceleration r. It is also seen that the effect of environment is much stronger than that of acceleration of the accelerated partner. Furthermore, it is investigated that correlated noise compensates the loss of entanglement caused by the Unruh effect.

Hybrid density functional study of electronic and optical properties of phase change memory material: $\mathrm{Ge_{2}Sb_{2}Te_{5}}$

In this article, we use hybrid density functional (HSE06) to study the crystal and electronic structures and optical properties of well known phase change memory material $\mathrm{Ge_{2}Sb_{2}Te_{5}}$. We calculate the structural parameters, band gaps and dielectric functions of three stable structures of this material. We also analyze the electron charge distribution using the Bader's theory of charge analysis. We find that hybrid density functional slightly overestimate the value of 'C' parameter. However, overall, our results calculated with the use of hybrid density functional (HSE06) are very close to available experimental values than calculated with the use of PBE functional. Specifically, the electronic band gap values of this material calculated with HSE06 are in good agreement with the available experimental data in the literature. Furthermore, we perform the charge analysis and find that naive ionic model fails to explain the charge distribution between the constituent atoms, showing the complex nature of this compound.

Dynamics of multipartite quantum correlations under decoherence

Quantum discord is an optimal resource for the quantification of classical and non-classical correlations as compared to other related measures. Geometric measure of quantum discord is another measure of quantum correlations. Recently, the geometric quantum discord for multipartite states has been introduced by Jianwei Xu [arxiv:quant/ph.1205.0330]. Motivated from the recent study [Ann. Phys. 327 (2012) 851] for the bipartite systems, I have investigated global quantum discord (QD) and geometric quantum discord (GQD) under the influence of external environments for different multipartite states. Werner-GHZ type three-qubit and six-qubit states are considered in inertial and non-inertial settings. The dynamics of QD and GQD is investigated under amplitude damping, phase damping, depolarizing and flipping channels. It is seen that the quantum discord vanishes for p>0.75 in case of three-qubit GHZ states and for p>0.5 for six qubit GHZ states. This implies that multipartite states are more fragile to decoherence for higher values of N. Surprisingly, a rapid sudden death of discord occurs in case of phase flip channel. However, for bit flip channel, no sudden death happens for the six-qubit states. On the other hand, depolarizing channel heavily influences the QD and GQD as compared to the amplitude damping channel. It means that the depolarizing channel has the most destructive influence on the discords for multipartite states. From the perspective of accelerated observers, it is seen that effect of environment on QD and GQD is much stronger than that of the acceleration of non-inertial frames. The degradation of QD and GQD happens due to Unruh effect. Furthermore, QD exhibits more robustness than GQD when the multipartite systems are exposed to environment.

Environmental influences on Quantum Monty Hall problem

We reformulate the quantum Monty Hall problem in the presence of decoherence. The decoherence destroys the fairness of the game. A new Nash equilibrium for a particular strategy profile in the presence of decoherence emerges. It is shown that in the presence of decoherence under the action of amplitude damping channel, Bob's winning probability is always higher than three-forth, irrespective of Alice's strategy, if he does not switch to the other door and always wins for a fully decohered case of the channel. Depolarizing channel damps up Bob's winning probability and gets better off if he sticks to his current selection. Phase damping channel leaves the winning probability unaffected. Unlike the classical and the quantum forms of the game, Bob's dominant strategy in the presence of decoherence is not switching.

Three-player quantum Kolkata restaurant problem under decoherence

Effect of quantum decoherence in a three-player quantum Kolkata restaurant problem is investigated using tripartite entangled qutrit states. Amplitude damping, depolarizing, phase damping, trit-phase flip and phase flip channels are considered to analyze the behaviour of players payoffs. It is seen that Alice's payoff is heavily influenced by the amplitude damping channel as compared to the depolarizing and flipping channels. However, for higher level of decoherence, Alice's payoff is strongly affected by depolarizing noise. Whereas the behaviour of phase damping channel is symmetrical around 50 % decoherence. It is also seen that for maximum decoherence (p=1), the influence of amplitude damping channel dominates over depolarizing and flipping channels. Whereas, phase damping channel has no effect on the Alice's payoff. Therefore, the problem becomes noiseless one at maximum decoherence in case of phase damping channel. Furthermore, the Nash equilibrium of the problem does not change under decoherence.

Entanglement dynamics of a qubit-qutrit system in non-inertial frames

The effect of decoherence on a qubit-qutrit system under the influence of global and multilocal decoherence in non-inertial frames is investigated. It is shown that the entanglement sudden death (ESD) can be avoided in non-inertial frames in the presence of dephasing and bit-trit phase flip channels for entire range of decoherence. However, ESD behaviour is seen for higher level of decoherence in case of phase flip and bit-trit flip channels. Irrespective of the entanglement degradation caused by the Unruh effect, no ESD occurs for the dephasing environment. Furthermore, flipping channels have approximately similar effect on the entanglement of the hybrid system.

Effect of flipping noise on the entanglement dynamics of a 3x3 system

Entanglement dynamics of a qutrit-qutrit system under the influence of global, local and multilocal decoherence introduced by phase flip, trit flip and trit phase flip channels is investigated. The negativity and realignment criterion are used to quantify the entanglement of the system. It is shown that the entanglement sudden death and distibility sudden death can be avoided in the presence of phase flip, trit flip and trit-phase flip environments. It is shown that certain free entangled distillable qutrit states become bound entangled or separable i.e. convert into non-distillable states under different flipping noises. It is also seen that local operations do not have any effect on the entanglement dynamics of the system. Further more, no ESD and DSD is seen for the case of trit flip channel.

Quantum memory in non-inertial frames

We study the effect of quantum memory in non-inertial frames under the influence of amplitude damping, depolarizing, phase flip and bit-phase flip channels. It is shown that the entanglement of initial state is heavily influenced by quantum correlations. It is seen that quantum memory compensates the loss of entanglement generated caused by the Unruh effect. It is interesting to note that the sudden death of entanglement disappears for any acceleration for higher values of memory. Therefore, it is possible to avoid ESD in non-inertial frames due to the presence of quantum memory. Furthermore, the degree of entanglement is enhanced as we increase the degree of memory and it maximizes for maximum correlations.

Decoherence and entanglement degradation of a qubit-qutrit system in non-inertial frames

We study the effect of decoherence on a qubit-qutrit system under the influence of global, local and multilocal decoherence in non-inertial frames. We show that the entanglement sudden death can be avoided in non-inertial frames in the presence of amplitude damping, depolarizing and phase damping channels. However, degradation of entanglement is seen due to Unruh effect. It is shown that for lower level of decoherence, the depolarizing channel degrades the entanglement more heavily as compared to the amplitude damping and phase damping channels. However, for higher values of decoherence parameters, amplitude damping channel heavily degrades the entanglement of the hybrid system. Further more, no ESD is seen for any value of Rob's acceleration.
