Wave Properties of Isothermal Magneto-Rotational Fluids

In this paper, the isothermal plasma wave properties in the neighborhood of the pair production region for the Kerr black hole magnetosphere are discussed. We have considered the Fourier analyzed form of the perturbed general relativistic magnetohydrodynamical equations whose determinant leads to a dispersion relation. For the special scenario, the $x$-component of the complex wave vectors are numerically calculated. Respective components of the propagation vector, attenuation vector, phase and group velocities are shown in graphs. We have particularly investigated the existence of a Veselago medium and wave behavior (modes of waves dispersion

Teleparallel Killing Vectors of Spherically Symmetric Spacetimes

In this paper, Killing vectors of spherically spacetimes have been evaluated in the context of teleparallel theory of gravitation. Further, we investigate the Killing vectors of the Friedmann metrics. It is found that for static spherically spacetimes the number of Killing vectors turn out to be \emph{seven} while for the Friedmann models, we obtain \emph{six} teleparallel Killing vectors. The results are then compared with those of General Relativity. We conclude that both of these descriptions of gravity do not provide the consistent results in general. However, these results may coincide under certain conditions for a particular spacetime.

Tilted Cylindrically Symmetric Self-Similar Solutions

This paper is devoted to explore tilted kinematic self-similar solutions of the the general cylindrical symmetric spacetimes. These solutions are of the first, zeroth, second and infinite kinds for the perfect fluid and dust cases. Three different equations of state are used to obtain these solutions. We obtain a total of five independent solutions. The correspondence of these solutions with those already available in the literature is also given.

Effects of Electromagnetic Field on Gravitational Collapse

In this paper, the effect of electromagnetic field has been investigated on the spherically symmetric collapse with the perfect fluid in the presence of positive cosmological constant. Junction conditions between the static exterior and non-static interior spherically symmetric spacetimes are discussed. We study the apparent horizons and their physical significance. It is found that electromagnetic field reduces the bound of cosmological constant by reducing the pressure and hence collapsing process is faster as compared to the perfect fluid case. This work gives the generalization of the perfect fluid case to the charged perfect fluid. Results for the perfect fluid case are recovered.

Conformal Ricci and Matter Collineations for Two Perfect Fluids

Conformal Ricci and conformal matter collineations for the combination of two perfect fluids in General Relativity are investigated. We study the existence of timelike and spacelike conformal Ricci and matter collineations by introducing the kinematical and dynamical properties of such fluids and using the Einstein field equations. Some recent studies on conformal collineations are extended and new results are found. It is worth mentioning that we recover all the previous results a special cases.

Parallel and Orthogonal Cylindrically Symmetric Self-Similar Solutions

In this paper, we evaluate kinematic self-similar perfect fluid and dust solutions for the most general cylindrically symmetric spacetime. We explore kinematic self-similar solutions of the first, second, zeroth and infinite kinds for parallel and orthogonal cases. It is found that the parallel case gives solutions for both perfect fluid and dust cases in all kinds except the zeroth kind of the dust case where there exists no solution. The orthogonal perfect fluid case gives stiff fluid solution only in the first kind and vacuum solution for the dust case. We obtain a total of thirteen solutions out of which eleven are independent. The correspondence of these solutions with those already available in the literature is also given.

Spherically Symmetric Gravitational Collapse

In this paper, we discuss gravitational collapse of spherically symmetric spacetimes. We derive a general formalism by taking two arbitrary spherically symmetric spacetimes with $g_{00}=1$. Israel's junction conditions are used to develop this formalism. The formulae for extrinsic curvature tensor are obtained. The general form of the surface energy-momentum tensor depending on extrinsic curvature tensor components is derived. This leads us to the surface energy density and the tangential pressure. The formalism is applied to two known spherically symmetric spacetimes. The results obtained show the regions for the collapse and expansion of the shell.

High-Speed Collapse of a Hollow Sphere of Type I Matter

In this paper, we study the dynamics of a hollow spherical matter collapsing with very large initial velocity. The spacetime is initially very similar to the Vaidya solution, and the deviations from this background are treated perturbatively. The equations of state for radial pressure $p_{\rm R}=kρ$ and tangential one $p_{\rm T}=wρ$ with constant $k$ and $w$ are assumed. We find for the case of equations of state $k< 1$ and $0<w\leq1$ that the initial velocity, which is nearly the speed of light, is strongly decelerated. This result implies that the pressure is essential to the property of singularity formation in gravitational collapse even for initially nearly light-speed collapse. By contrast, in cases with the negative tangential pressure, the present result implies that the central naked singularity similar to that of the Vaidya spacetime can be formed, even though the radial pressure is positive, and the weak, strong and dominant energy conditions hold. Especially, in the case of $w<-(1-k)/4$, the high-speed collapse will produce the spacetime structure very similar to that of the Vaidya spacetime.

Matter Collineations of Plane Symmetric Spacetimes

This paper is devoted to the study of matter collineations of plane symmetric spacetimes (for a particular class of spacetimes) when the energy-momentum tensor is non-degenerate. There exists many interesting cases where we obtain proper matter collineations. The matter collineations in these cases are {\it four}, \emph{five}, {\it six}, \emph{seven} and {\it ten} with some constraints on the energy-momentum tensor. We have solved some of these constraints to obtain solutions of the Einstein field equations.

Energy-Momentum of the Friedmann Models in General Relativity and Teleparallel Theory of Gravity

This paper is devoted to the evaluation of the energy-momentum density components for the Friedmann models. For this purpose, we have used M$ø$ller's pseudotensor prescription in General Relativity and a certain energy-momentum density developed from his teleparallel formulation. It is shown that the energy density of the closed Friedmann universe vanishes on the spherical shell at the radius $ρ=2\sqrt{3}$. This coincides with the earlier results available in the literature. We also discuss the energy of the flat and open models. A comparison shows a partial consistency between the M$ø$ller's pseudotensor for General Relativity and teleparallel theory. Further, it is shown that the results are independent of the free dimensionless coupling constant of the teleparallel gravity.

Wave Properties of Plasma Surrounding the Event Horizon of a Non-Rotating Black Hole

We have studied the wave properties of the cold and isothermal plasma in the vicinity of the Schwarzschild black hole event horizon. The Fourier analyzed perturbed 3+1 GRMHD equations are taken on the basis of which the complex dispersion relations are obtained for non-rotating, rotating non-magnetized and rotating magnetized backgrounds. The propagation and attenuation vectors along with the refractive index are obtained (shown in graphs) to study the dispersive properties of the medium near the event horizon. The results show that no information can be obtained from the Schwarzschild magnetosphere. Further, the pressure ceases the existence of normal dispersion of waves.

Teleparallel Version of the Levi-Civita Vacuum Solutions and their Energy Contents

In this paper, we find the teleparallel version of the Levi-Civita metric and obtain tetrad and the torsion fields. The tensor, vector and the axial-vector parts of the torsion tensor are evaluated. It is found that the vector part lies along the radial direction only while the axial-vector vanishes everywhere because the metric is diagonal. Further, we use the teleparallel version of M$\ddot{o}$ller, Einstein, Landau-Lifshitz and Bergmann-Thomson prescriptions to find the energy-momentum distribution of this metric and compare the results with those already found in General Relativity. It is worth mentioning here that momentum is constant in both the theories for all the prescriptions. The energy in teleparallel theory is equal to the corresponding energy in GR only in M$\ddot{o}$ller prescription for the remaining prescriptions, the energy do not agree in both theories. We also conclude that M$\ddot{o}$ller's energy-momentum distribution is independent of the coupling constant $λ$ in the teleparallel theory.

Energy-Momentum Problem of Bell-Szekeres Metric in General Relativity and Teleparallel Gravity

This paper is devoted to the investigation of the energy-momentum problem in two theories, i.e., General Relativity and teleparallel gravity. We use Einstein, Landau-Lifshitz, Bergmann-Thomson and Möller's prescriptions to evaluate energy-momentum distribution of Bell-Szekeres metric in both the theories. It is shown that these prescriptions give the same energy-momentum density components in both General Relativity and teleparallel theory. Möller's prescription yields constant energy in both the theories.

Teleparallel Energy-Momentum Distribution of Spatially Homogeneous Rotating Spacetimes

The energy-momentum distribution of spatially homogeneous rotating spacetimes in the context of teleparallel theory of gravity is investigated. For this purpose, we use the teleparallel version of Moller prescription. It is found that the components of energy-momentum density are finite and well-defined but are different from General Relativity. However, the energy-momentum density components become the same in both theories under certain assumptions. We also analyse these quantities for some special solutions of the spatially homogeneous rotating spacetimes.

Complex Wave Numbers in the Vicinity of the Schwarzschild Event Horizon

This paper is devoted to investigate the cold plasma wave properties outside the event horizon of the Schwarzschild planar analogue. The dispersion relations are obtained from the corresponding Fourier analyzed equations for non-rotating and rotating, non-magnetized and magnetized backgrounds. These dispersion relations provide complex wave numbers. The wave numbers are shown in graphs to discuss the nature and behavior of waves and the properties of plasma lying in the vicinity of the Schwarzschild event horizon.

Effects of Schwarzschild Geometry on Isothermal Plasma Wave Dispersion

The behavior of isothermal plasma waves has been analyzed near the Schwarzschild horizon. We consider a non-rotating background with non-magnetized and magnetized plasmas. The general relativistic magnetohydrodynamical equations for the Schwarzschild planar analogue spacetime with an isothermal state of the plasma are formulated. The perturbed form of these equations is linearized and Fourier analyzed by introducing simple harmonic waves. The determinant of these equations in each case leads to a complex dispersion relation, which gives complex values of the wave number. This has been used to discuss the nature of the waves and their characteristics near the horizon.

Energy-Momentum Distribution of the Weyl-Lewis-Papapetrou and the Levi-Civita Metrics

This paper is devoted to compute the energy-momentum densities for two exact solutions of the Einstein field equations by using the prescriptions of Einstein, Landau-Lifshitz, Papapetrou and Möller. The spacetimes under consideration are the Weyl-Lewis-Papapetrou and the Levi-Civita metrics. The Weyl metric becomes the special case of the Weyl-Lewis-Papapetrou solution. The Levi-Civita metric provides constant momentum in each prescription with different energy density. The Weyl-Lewis-Papapetrou metric yields all the quantities different in each prescription. These differences support the well-defined proposal developed by Cooperstock and from the energy-momentum tensor itself.

Plane Symmetric Gravitational Collapse

In this paper, we derive the general formulation by considering two arbitrary plane symmetric spacetimes using Israel's method. As an example, we apply this formulation to known plane symmetric spacetimes. We take the Taub's static metric in the interior region whereas Kasner's non-static metric in the exterior region. It is shown that the plane collapses in some cases whereas it expands in some other cases.
