Determination of $η\toπ^+π^-π^0$ Dalitz plot slopes and asymmetries with the KLOE detector

We have studied, with the KLOE detector at the DA$Φ$NE $Φ$-Factory, the dynamics of the decay $η\toπ^+π^-π^0$ using $η$ mesons from the decay $ϕ\toηγ$ for an integrated luminosity ${\mathcal L}$ = 450 pb$^{-1}$. From a fit to the Dalitz plot density distribution we obtain a precise measurement of the slope parameters. An alternative parametrization relates the $π^+π^-π^0$ slopes to that for $η\to 3π^0$ showing the consistency of KLOE results for both channels. We also obtain the best confirmation of the $C$-invariance in the $η\toπ^+π^-π^0$ decay.

Vus and lepton universality from kaon decays with the KLOE detector

KLOE has measured most decay branching ratios of Ks, Kl and K+/- mesons. It has also measured the Kl and the K+- lifetime and determined the shape of the form factors involved in kaon semileptonic decays. We present in the following a description of the above measurements and a well organized compendium of all of our data, with particular attention to correlations. These data provide the basis for the determination of the CKM parameter Vus and a test of the unitarity of the quark flavor mixing matrix. We also test lepton universality and place bounds on new physics using measurements of Vus from Kl2 and Kl3 decays.

Measurement of the charged kaon lifetime with the KLOE detector

We have measured the charged kaon lifetime using a sample of 15 \times 10^6 tagged kaon decays. Charged kaons were produced in pairs at the DA\PhiNE ϕ-factory, e^+e^- \to ϕ\to K^+ K^-. The decay of a K^+ was tagged by the production of a K^- and viceversa. The lifetime was obtained, for both charges, from independent measurements of the decay time and decay lenght distributions. From fits to the four distributions we find τ= (12.347\pm0.030) ns.

Precise measurements of the eta and the neutral kaon meson masses with the KLOE detector

We present precise measurements of the eta and K0 masses using the processes phi to eta gamma, eta to gamma gamma and phi to Ks Kl, Ks to pi+ pi-. The K0 mass measurement, M_K=497.583 +/- 0.005 (stat) +/- 0.020 (syst) MeV, is in acceptable agreement with the previous measurements but is more accurate. We find m(eta) = 547.874 +/- 0.007 (stat) +/- 0.031 (syst) MeV. Our value is the most accurate to date and is in agreement with two recent measurements based on eta decays, but is inconsistent, by about 10 sigma, with a measurement of comparable precision based on eta production at threshold.

Measurement of the slope parameter αfor the η\to 3π^0 decay at KLOE

We report a preliminary measurement of the slope parameter $α$ for the $η\to 3\piz$ decay carried out with KLOE at DA$Φ$NE; where $α$ is the parameter describing the energy dependence of the square of the matrix element for this decay. By fitting the event density in the Dalitz plot with a collected statistic of 420 pb$^{-1}$ we determine $α= -0.027 \pm 0.004 (stat) ^{+0.004}_{-0.006} (syst)$. This result is consistent with current chiral perturbation theory calculations within the unitary approach.

Determination of the η\toπ^+π^-π^0 Dalitz Plot slopes and asymmetries with the KLOE detector

We have studied, with the KLOE detector at the DA$Φ$NE $Φ$-Factory, the dynamics of the decay $η\toπ^+π^-π^0$ using data from the radiative $ϕ\toηγ$ decay for an integrated luminosity $L = 450 \textrm{pb^{-1}}$. From a fit to the Dalitz plot density distribution we obtain a precise measurement of the slope parameters. This should allow to improve the knowledge of the decay amplitude which is sensitive to the u-d quark mass difference. We also present new best results on the C-violating asymmetries in the $η\toπ^+π^-π^0$ decay.

Search for the K(S) --> e+e- decay with the KLOE detector at DAFNE

We present results of a direct search for the decay KS --> e+e- with the KLOE detector, obtained with a sample of e+e- --> phi --> KSKL events produced at DAFNE, the Frascati phi-factory, for an integrated luminosity of 1.3fb-1. The Standard Model prediction for this decay is BR(KS --> e+e-) = 1.6*10^-15. The search has been performed tagging the KS decays by simultaneous detection of a KL interaction in the calorimeter. Background rejection has been optimized by using both kinematic cuts and particle identification. At the end of the analysis chain we find BR(KS --> e+e-) < 2.1*10^-8 at 90% CL, which improves by a factor of ~7 on the previous best result, obtained by CPLEAR experiment.

Here we present KLOE results on the phi meson decays in pi0 pi0 gamma, pi+ pi- gamma and eta pi0 gamma, the measurement of the ratio Br(phi to eta' gamma)/Br(phi to eta gamma) with the estimate of the eta' gluonium content and the measurement of the eta mass.

Topological susceptibility in full QCD with Ginsparg-Wilson fermions

We show that, if the formula for the topological charge density operator suggested by fermions obeying the Ginsparg-Wilson relation is employed, it is possible to give a precise and unambiguous definition of the topological susceptibility in full QCD, chi_tL, for finite quark masses on the lattice. The lattice expression of chi_tL looks like the formal continuum one, in the sense that no power divergent subtractions are needed for its proper definition. As a consequence, the small mass behaviour of chi_tL leads directly to a multiplicative renormalizable definition of the chiral condensate that does not require any power divergent subtraction.

Finite Volume Effects in Weak Hadronic Decays

In this talk we discuss finite-volume computations of two-body hadronic decays below the inelastic threshold (e.g. $K\toππ$ decays). In particular we show how the relation between finite-volume matrix elements and physical amplitudes, recently derived by Lellouch and Lüscher, can be extended to all elastic states under the inelastic threshold. We also provide a derivation of the Lüscher quantization condition directly in quantum field theory.

The U_A(1) Problem on the Lattice with Ginsparg-Wilson Fermions

We show how it is possible to give a precise and unambiguous implementation of the Witten--Veneziano formula for the eta' mass on the lattice, which looks like the formal continuum one, if the expression of the topological charge density operator, suggested by fermions obeying the Ginsparg--Wilson relation, is employed. By using recent numerical results from simulations with overlap fermions in 2 (abelian Schwinger model) and 4 (QCD) dimensions, one obtains values for the mass of the lightest pseudo-scalar flavour-singlet state that agree within errors with theoretical expectations and experimental data, respectively.

The $U_A(1)$ Problem on the Lattice

If the expression of the topological charge density operator, suggested by fermions obeying the Ginsparg--Wilson relation, is employed, it is possible to prove on the lattice the validity of the Witten--Veneziano formula for the $η'$ mass. Recent numerical results from simulations with overlap fermions in 2 (abelian Schwinger model) and 4 (QCD) dimensions give values for the mass of the lightest pseudo-scalar flavour-singlet state that agree with theoretical expectations and/or experimental data.

$K \to ππ$ Decays in a Finite Volume

We discuss finite-volume computations of two-body hadronic decays below the inelastic threshold (e.g. $K\toππ$ decays). The relation between finite-volume matrix elements and physical amplitudes, recently derived by Lellouch and Lüscher, is extended to all elastic states under the inelastic threshold. We present a detailed comparison of our approach with that of Lellouch and Lüscher and discuss the possible limitations of the method which could arise due to the presence of inelastic thresholds. We also examine a standard alternative method which can be used to extract the real part of the decay amplitude from correlators of the form $< 0 |T[ππ{\cal H}_WK ]| 0 >$. We show that in this case there are finite-volume corrections which vanish as inverse powers of the volume, which cannot be removed by a multiplicative factor.

Non-perturbative improvement of lattice QCD at large momenta

We propose a method to improve lattice operators composed of Wilson fermions which allows the removal of all corrections of $O(a)$, including those proportional to the quark mass. It requires off-shell improvement of quark fields and composite operators, which is achieved by studying the behaviour of quark and gluon correlation functions at large momenta.

Quark Masses and Renormalization Constants from Quark Propagator and 3-point Functions

We have computed the light and strange quark masses and the renormalization constants of the quark bilinear operators, by studying the large-p^2 behaviour of the lattice quark propagator and 3-point functions. The calculation is non-perturbatively improved, at O(a), in the chiral limit. The method used to compute the quark masses has never been applied so far, and it does not require an explicit determination of the quark mass renormalization constant.

Exploring the Light-Cone through Semi-Inclusive Hadronic Distributions

Light-cone dominance is established for a particular set of semi-inclusive observables in $e^+ e^-$ hadronic annihilation. This allows to deduce, with a certain degree of rigor, the angular distribution of hadronic energy from first principles, without invoking quark-hadron duality.
