The Constant Width Measure Set, the Spherical Measure Set and isoperimetric equalities for planar ovals

In this paper we introduce the Constant Width Measure Set, which measures the constant width property of an oval, i.e. the planar simple closed strictly convex curve. We study its geometrical properties. We find the exact relation between the length and the area of the region bounded by an oval $M$. Namely, the following equality is fulfilled: \begin{align*} L_{M}^2 &=4πA_M+8π\left|\widetilde{A}_{\mathrm{E}_{\frac{1}{2}}(M)}\right|+π\left|\widetilde{A}_{\mathrm{CWMS}(M)}\right|, \end{align*} where $L_{M}, A_{M}, \widetilde{A}_{\mathrm{E}_{\frac{1}{2}}(M)}, \widetilde{A}_{\mathrm{CWMS}(M)}$ are the length of $M$, the area bounded by $M$, the oriented area of the Wigner caustic of $M$ and the oriented area of the Constant Width Measure Set of $M$, respectively. Furthermore we study the geometry of the Spherical Measure Set, which is an offset of a curve with a special distance. We show that the oriented area of this set of an oval $M$, $\widetilde{A}_{\mathrm{SMS}(M)}$, satisfies the following equality: \begin{align*} 4\left|\widetilde{A}_{\mathrm{SMS}(M)}\right|=8\left|\widetilde{A}_{\mathrm{E}_{\frac{1}{2}}(M)}\right|+\left|\widetilde{A}_{\mathrm{CWMS}(M)}\right|. \end{align*}

The Singular Evolutoids Set and the Extended Evolutoids Front

In this paper we introduce the notion of the singular evolutoid set which is the set of all singular points of all evolutoids of a fixed smooth planar curve with at most cusp singularities. By the Gauss-Bonnet Theorem for Coherent Tangent Bundles over Surfaces with Boundary (Theorem 2.20 in [4]) applied to the extended front of evolutoids of a hedgehog we obtain an integral equality for smooth periodic curves.

The Geometry of the Wigner Caustic and a Decomposition of a Curve Into Parallel Arcs

In this paper we study global properties of the Wigner caustic of parameterized closed planar curves. We find new results on its geometry and singular points. In particular, we consider the Wigner caustic of rosettes, i.e. regular closed parameterized curves with non-vanishing curvature. We present a decomposition of a curve into parallel arcs to describe smooth branches of the Wigner caustic. By this construction we can find the number of smooth branches, the rotation number, the number of inflexion points and the parity of the number of cusp singularities of each branch. We also study the global properties of the Wigner caustic on shell (the branch of the Wigner caustic connecting two inflexion points of a curve). We apply our results to whorls - the important object to study the dynamics of a quantum particle in the optical lattice potential.

The Geometry of the Secant Caustic of a Planar Curve

The secant caustic of a planar curve $M$ is the image of the singular set of the secant map of $M$. We analyse the geometrical properties of the secant caustic of a planar curve, i.e. the number of branches of the secant caustic, the parity of the number of cusps and the number of inflexion points in each branch of this set. In particular, we investigate in detail some of the geometrical properties of the secant caustic of a rosette, i.e. a smooth regular oriented closed curve with non-vanishing curvature.

Isoperimetric equalities for rosettes

In this paper we study the isoperimetric-type equalities for rosettes, i.e. regular closed planar curves with non-vanishing curvature. We find the exact relations between the length and the oriented area of rosettes based on the oriented areas of the Wigner caustic, the Constant Width Measure Set and the Spherical Measure Set. We also study and find new results about the geometry of affine equidistants of rosettes and of the union of rosettes.
