Chiral partners of strange doubly heavy baryons: Mass relations and decay predictions after the 2026 LHCb discoveries

Three spectacular LHCb measurements in 2026---the observations of $Ω_{cc}^{+}$, $Ξ_{cc}^{+}$, and the beauty-strange structure $B_{s0}^{*}(5700)^0$---make possible an experimentally constrained analysis of chiral partners of strange doubly heavy baryons. The doubly charmed masses test the earlier Ma--Harada prediction and support a compact, internally S-wave $cc$ color source. We combine this comparison with the heavy-quark--diquark hyperfine relation and with chiral gaps from the theory of chiral doublers, to construct consistent $ccs$ and $bbs$ parity multiplets and a conditional extension to $bcs$. Under meson-to-baryon parity-gap transfer, the $349$ MeV input from the $D_s$ sector gives negative-parity $ccs$ targets near $4.075$ and $4.183$ GeV. The separate $332$ MeV input from the $B_s$ sector fixes the $bbs$ partner masses relative to their unknown ground-state mass, conditional on the new beauty-strange state's chiral-partner assignment. We relate the differences of hyperfine splittings in the two parity sectors of mesons and baryons, and identify equal reduced single-pion widths, an E1 reduced-width ratio $1:8:4:5$, and a kaon selection rule whose leading predictions contain no new transition parameters. Absolute widths are estimated by matching the published Bardeen--Eichten--Hill and Harada--Rho--Sasaki meson calculations to a common convention. In the reference calculation, all members of the predicted $ccs$ and $bbs$ multiplets are narrow. In the proposed $Ω_{QQ}π^0$ and $Ω_{QQ}γ$ searches at LHCb, these states are expected to produce peaks dominated by detector resolution, allowing their masses and decay patterns to be investigated even when their intrinsic widths remain unresolved. The upper charm state is above kaon threshold but protected in the spectator limit.

Directed walks shape a universal square-root law of entropy production rate in nonreciprocal systems

The entropy production rate (EPR) quantifies irreversibility of a nonequilibrium steady state, yet standard formulas obscure how a complex interaction network generates it. For multivariate Ornstein-Uhlenbeck dynamics on such networks, we express the EPR as a quadratic form in antisymmetric matrices measuring the nonreciprocity of aggregate directed walks at every length, and, equivalently, as two weighted-walk quantities: pairs of directed walks sharing both endpoints, and directed closed walks. For diagonalizable interactions, an exact correspondence translates these walk quantities into eigenvalues and biorthogonal eigenvector overlaps. Across dense, sparse, and deep acyclic random interactions satisfying matched-walk conditions, the mean EPR per node universally follows the square-root law $ϕ_*(g)=1-\sqrt{1-g^2}$, where $g \in [0,1)$ parametrizes the interaction strength. Deep acyclic interaction matrices are nilpotent, with all eigenvalues fixed at zero for every $g$, yet, as their depth increases, their mean EPR per node approaches $ϕ_*(g)$. Thus, the square-root law arises from directed walk properties, rather than from a shared spectral density or specific network topology.

Chiral Doubling of Heavy-Light Hadrons and the New Beauty--Strange $B_{s0}^*(5700)^0$ Candidate

The recent observation by the LHCb Collaboration of a new beauty--strange meson $B_{s0}^*(5700)^0$~\cite{LHCb:2026Bs0star}, under the conditional assignment $J^P=0^+$ provides an important new test of the chiral organization of heavy-light hadrons. More than three decades ago it was proposed that the coexistence of heavy-quark spin symmetry and spontaneously broken chiral symmetry implies that every heavy-light spin multiplet should possess an opposite-parity partner separated by a nearly universal mass gap determined primarily by the dynamics of the light degrees of freedom~\cite{Nowak:1993vc,Bardeen:1993ae}. This chiral doubling scenario was later developed into a quantitative heavy-hadron effective theory and extended to the complete charm and beauty spectra. In particular, the strange beauty sector was predicted to exhibit a parity splitting closely related to that of the strange charm sector, with only small $1/m_Q$ corrections. We briefly review the symmetry origin of chiral doubling, derive the universal parity splitting through the heavy-hadron chiral effective theory, and discuss the new LHCb observation in the context of the original theoretical predictions. Taken together with the established charm spectrum, if the new beauty-strange state is confirmed to have $J^P=0^+$, its mass is consistent with its interpretation as the chiral partner of the ground state $B_s^0$. Finally, we stress that the above confirmation of the spin and parity imposes in the chiral doubling scenario an existence of yet unobserved, very narrow beauty-strange meson with assignment $1^+$ at 5747 $\pm$ 2 MeV. This work is dedicated to the memory of our friend and collaborator Mannque Rho (1936--2026).

Universality and emergent effective fluid from jets and string breaking in the massive Schwinger model using tensor networks

We analyze the correlation between the energy, momentum and spatial entanglement produced by two luminal jets in the massive Schwinger model. Using tensor network methods, we show that for m/g > 1/π, in the vicinity of the strong to weak coupling transition, a nearly perfect and chargeless effective fluid behavior appears around the mid-rapidity region with a universal energy-pressure relationship. The evolution of energy and pressure is strongly correlated with the rise of the spatial entanglement entropy, indicating a key role of quantum dynamics. Some of these observations may be used to analyze high multiplicity jet fragmentation events, energy-energy and energy-charge correlators at current collider energies.

Non-orthogonal eigenvectors, fluctuation-dissipation relations and entropy production

Celebrated fluctuation-dissipation theorem (FDT) linking the response function to time dependent correlations of observables measured in the reference unperturbed state is one of the central results in equilibrium statistical mechanics. In this Letter we discuss an extension of the standard FDT to the case when multidimensional matrix representing transition probabilities is strictly non-normal. This feature dramatically modifies the dynamics, by incorporating the effect of eigenvector nonorthogonality via the associated overlap matrix of Chalker-Mehlig type. In particular, the rate of entropy production per unit time is strongly enhanced by that matrix. We suggest, that this mechanism has an impact on the studies of collective phenomena in neural matrix models, leading, via transient behavior, to such phenomena as synchronization and emergence of the memory. We also expect, that the described mechanism generating the entropy production is generic for wide class of phenomena, where dynamics is driven by non-normal operators. For the case of driving by a large Ginibre matrix the entropy production rate is evaluated analytically, as well as for the Rajan-Abbott model for neural networks.

Using Space-Filling Curves and Fractals to Reveal Spatial and Temporal Patterns in Neuroimaging Data

We present a novel method, Fractal Space-Curve Analysis (FSCA), which combines Space-Filling Curve (SFC) mapping for dimensionality reduction with fractal Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA). The method is suitable for multidimensional geometrically embedded data, especially for neuroimaging data which is highly correlated temporally and spatially. We conduct extensive feasibility studies on diverse, artificially generated data with known fractal characteristics: the fractional Brownian motion, Cantor sets, and Gaussian processes. We compare the suitability of dimensionality reduction via Hilbert SFC and a data-driven alternative. FSCA is then successfully applied to real-world magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and functional MRI (fMRI) scans. The method utilizing Hilbert curves is optimized for computational efficiency, proven robust against boundary effects typical in experimental data analysis, and resistant to data sub-sampling. It is able to correctly quantify and discern correlations in both stationary and dynamic two-dimensional images. In MRI Alzheimer's dataset, patients reveal a progression of the disease associated with a systematic decrease of the Hurst exponent. In fMRI recording of breath-holding task, the change in the exponent allows distinguishing different experimental phases. This study introduces a robust method for fractal characterization of spatial and temporal correlations in many types of multidimensional neuroimaging data. Very few assumptions allow it to be generalized to more dimensions than typical for neuroimaging and utilized in other scientific fields. The method can be particularly useful in analyzing fMRI experiments to compute markers of pathological conditions resulting from neurodegeneration. We also showcase its potential for providing insights into brain dynamics in task-related experiments.

The Nambu-Goto string in QCD: Dipole interactions, scattering and entanglement

We revisit some aspects of the stringy approach to dipole-dipole interactions, scattering and entanglement in QCD, using the Nambu-Goto (NG) string, without recourse to holography. We first show that the potential between two static dipoles exchanging closed NG strings is attractive at all separations. Underlining the exchange there is an emergent entropy, that is dominated by the tachyon at large separation, and vanishes at short separation, a measure of the confinement-deconfinement transition. The same tachyon is dominant in the scattering amplitude, as a correlator of two Wilson loops for two fixed dipole-like hadrons separated at large rapidity gap, where the contribution of the worldsheet fermions is included. While the tachyon causes the mean string bit density to grow exponentially with the rapidity, the total scattering cross section still satisfies the Froissart bound by quantum shadowing. The stringy scattering exchange also carries an entanglement entropy, that saturates when the bound is reached. For hadrons with varying dipole sizes, the tachyon exchange takes place in hyperbolic space in the conformal limit. The result for the full S-matrix is reminiscent of the one from Mueller$^\prime$s evolved dipole wavefunction, for the total dipole-dipole cross section in perturbative QCD.

Freeness in cognitive science

In this mini-review, dedicated to the Jubilee of Professor Tadeusz Marek, we highlight in a popular way the power of so-called free random variables (hereafter FRV) calculus, viewed as a potential probability calculus for the XXI century, in applications to the broad area of cognitive sciences. We provide three examples: (i) inference of noisy signals from multivariate correlation data from the brain; (ii) distinguished role of non-normality in real neuronal models; (iii) applications to the field of deep learning in artificial neural networks.

Scale-free correlations in the dynamics of a small (N ~ 10000) cortical network

The advent of novel opto-genetics technology allows the recording of brain activity with a resolution never seen before. The characterisation of these very large data sets offers new challenges as well as unique theory-testing opportunities. Here we discuss whether the spatial and temporal correlation of the collective activity of thousands of neurons are tangled as predicted by the theory of critical phenomena. The analysis shows that both, the correlation length $ξ$ and the correlation time $τ$ scale as predicted as a function of the system size. With some peculiarities that we discuss, the analysis uncovers new evidence consistent with the view that the large scale brain cortical dynamics corresponds to critical phenomena.

Mueller's dipole wave function in QCD: emergent KNO scaling in the double logarithm limit

We analyze Mueller's QCD dipole wave function evolution in the double logarithm approximation (DLA). Using complex analytical methods, we show that the distribution of dipole in the wave function (gluon multiplicity distribution) asymptotically satisfies the Koba-Nielsen-Olesen (KNO) scaling, with a non-trivial scaling function $f(z)$ with $z=\frac n{\bar n}$. The scaling function decays exponentially as $2(2.55)^2ze^{-\frac{z}{0.3917}}$ at large $z$, while its growth is log-normal as $e^{-\frac{1}{2}\ln^2 z}$ for small-$z$. A detailed analysis of the Fourier-Laplace transform of $f(z)$, allows for performing the inverse Fourier transform, and access the non-asymptotic bulk-region around the peak. The bulk and asymptotic results are shown to be in good agreement with the measured hadronic multiplicities in DIS, as reported by the H1 collaboration at HERA in the region of large $Q^2$. A numerical tabulation of $f(z)$ is included. Remarkably, the same scaling function is found to emerge in the resummation of double logarithms in the evolution of jets. Using the generating function approach, we show why this is the case. The absence of KNO scaling in non-critical and super-renormalizable theories is briefly discussed. We also discuss the universal character of the entanglement entropy in the KNO scaling limit, and its measurement using the emitted multiplicities in DIS and $e^+e^-$ annihilation.

Universality of Koba-Nielsen-Olesen scaling in QCD at high energy and entanglement

Using Mueller's dipole formalism for deep inelastic scattering in QCD, we formulate and solve the evolution for the generating function for the multiplicities of the produced particles, in hadronic processes at high energy. The solution for the multiplicities satisfies Koba-Nielsen-Olesen (KNO) scaling, with good agreement with the recently re-analyzed data from the H1 experiment at HERA (DESY), and the old ALEPH data for hadronic $Z$ decay at LEP (CERN). The same scaling function with KNO scaling, carries to the hadronic multiplicities from jets in electron-positron annihilation. This agreement is {\it a priori} puzzling, since in Mueller's dipole evolution, one accounts for virtual dipoles in a wave function, whereas in electron-positron annihilation, one describes cross-sections of real particles. We explain the origin of this similarity, pointing at a particular duality between the two processes. Finally, we interpret our results from the point of view of quantum entanglement between slow and fast degrees of freedom in QCD, and derive the entanglement entropy pertinent to electron-positron annihilation into hadronic jets.

Rapidity evolution of the entanglement entropy in quarkonium: parton and string duality

We investigate the quantum entanglement in rapidity space of the soft gluon wave function of a quarkonium, in theories with non-trivial rapidity evolutions. We found that the rapidity evolution drastically changes the behavior of the entanglement entropy, at any given order in perturbation theory. At large $N_c$, the reduced density matrices that "resum" the leading rapidity-logs can be explicitly constructed, and shown to satisfy Balitsky-Kovchegov (BK)-like evolution equations. We study their entanglement entropy in a simplified $1+1$ toy model, and in 3D QCD. The entanglement entropy in these cases, after re-summation, is shown to saturate the Kolmogorov-Sinai bound of 1. Remarkably, in 3D QCD the essential growth rate of the entanglement entropy is found to vanish at large rapidities, a result of kinematical "quenching" in transverse space. The one-body reduction of the entangled density matrix obeys a BFKL evolution equation, which can be recast as an evolution in an emergent AdS space, at large impact-parameter and large rapidity. This observation allows the extension of the perturbative wee parton evolution at low-x, to a dual non-perturbative evolution of string bits in curved AdS$_5$ space, with manifest entanglement entropy in the confining regime.

Spatial entanglement in two dimensional QCD: Renyi and Ryu-Takayanagi entropies

We derive a general formula for the replica partition function in the vacuum state, for a large class of interacting theories with fermions, with or without gauge fields, using the equal-time formulation on the light front. The result is used to analyze the spatial entanglement of interacting Dirac fermions in two-dimensional QCD. A particular attention is paid to the issues of infrared cut-off dependence and gauge invariance. The Renyi entropy for a single interval, is given by the rainbow dressed quark propagator to order ${\cal O}(N_c)$. The contributions to order ${\cal O}(1)$, are shown to follow from the off-diagonal and off mass-shell mesonic T-matrix, with no contribution to the central charge. The construction is then extended to mesonic states on the light front, and shown to probe the moments of the partonic PDFs for large light-front separations. In the vacuum and for small and large intervals, the spatial entanglement entropy following from the Renyi entropy, is shown to be in agreement with the Ryu-Takayanagi geometrical entropy, using a soft-wall AdS$_3$ model of two-dimensional QCD.

Eikonal formulation of large dynamical random matrix models

Standard approach to dynamical random matrix models relies on the description of trajectories of eigenvalues. Using the analogy from optics, based on the duality between the Fermat principle(trajectories) and the Huygens principle (wavefronts), we formulate the Hamilton-Jacobi dynamics for large random matrix models. The resulting equations describe a broad class of random matrix models in a unified way, including normal (Hermitian or unitary) as well as strictly non-normal dynamics. HJ formalism applied to Brownian bridge dynamics allows one for calculations of the asymptotics of the Harish-Chandra-Itzykson-Zuber integrals.

Entanglement entropy and flow in two dimensional QCD: parton and string duality

We discuss quantum entanglement between fast and slow degrees of freedom, in a two dimensional (2D) large $N_c$ gauge theory with Dirac quarks, quantized on the light front. Using the 't Hooft wave functions, we construct the reduced density matrix for an interval in the momentum fraction $x$-space, and calculate its von Neumann entropy in terms of structure functions, that are measured by DIS on mesons (hadrons in general). We found that the entropy is bounded by an area law with logarithmic divergences, proportional to the rapidity of the meson. The evolution of the entanglement entropy with rapidity, is fixed by the cumulative singlet PDF, and bounded from above by a Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy of 1. At low-$x$, the entanglement exhibits an asymptotic expansion, similar to the forward meson-meson scattering amplitude in the Regge limit. The evolution of the entanglement entropy in parton-$x$ per unit rapidity, measures the meson singlet PDF. The re-summed entanglement entropy along the single meson Regge trajectory, is string-like. We suggest that its extension to multi-meson states, models DIS scattering on a large 2D $^\prime$nucleus$^\prime$. The result, is a large rate of change of the entanglement entropy with rapidity, that matches the current Bekenstein-Bremermann bound for maximum quantum information flow. This mechanism may be at the origin of the large entropy deposition and rapid thermalization, reported in current heavy ion colliders, and may extend to future electron-ion colliders.

Hyperons and $Θ_s^+$ in Holographic QCD

We revisit the holographic description of strange baryons in the context of the Sakai-Sugimoto construction, by considering the strange quark mass as heavy. Hyperons are described by a massive $(K,K^*)$ multiplet, bound to a light-flavor instanton in bulk, much in the spirit of the Callan-Klebanov construction. The modular Hamiltonian maps onto the Landau problem, a charged particle in a 2-dimensional external magnetic field, induced by the bulk Chern-Simons interaction, plus spin-orbit coupling. The ensuing holographic hyperon spectrum compares fairly with the empirical one. The holographic strange pentaquark baryon $Θ^+_s$ is shown to be unbound.

Holographic tetraquarks and the newly observed $T_{cc}^{+}$ at LHCb

We describe a heavy and exotic tetraquark state as a holographic molecule, by binding the lightest heavy-light meson $(0^-, 1^-)$ multiplet to a flavored sphaleron, in the bulk of the Witten-Sakai-Sugimoto model. Bound tetraquark states emerge as Efimov states in the heavy quark limit, with a binding energy for charm tetraquark comparable to the $T_{cc}^+$ recently reported by the LHCb, but a substantially smaller width, for a large but finite $^\prime$t Hooft coupling. Fixing the parameters of the model at the empirical mass of $T_{cc}^+$ allows us to predict the bindings of the undiscovered so far bottom-charm and bottom tetraquarks, when interpreted as Efimov states.

Holographic charm and bottom pentaquarks III: Excitations through photo-production of heavy mesons

We consider the photo-excitation of charm and bottom pentaquarks with the holographic assignments $[\frac 12\frac 12^-]_{S=0,1}$ and $[\frac 12\frac 32^-]_{S=1}$, in the photo-production of heavy vector mesons such as charmonia and bottomonia near threshold. We use a Witten diagram to combine the s-channel photo-excitation of holographic pentaquarks with a massive t-channel graviton or tensor glueball exchange, to extract the scattering amplitude for heavy meson photo-production in the threshold region. The pentaquark signal is too weak to be detected at current electron facilities.
