Idempotent compatible maps and discrete integrable systems on the triangular lattice

We present three equivalence classes of rational non-invertible multidimensional compatible maps. These maps turns out to be idempotent and by construction they admit birational partial inverses (companion maps) which are Yang-Baxter maps. The maps in question can be reinterpreted as systems of difference equations defined on the edges of the $\mathbb{Z}^2$ graph. Finally, we associate these compatible systems of difference equations with integrable difference equations defined on the triangular lattice $Q(A2)$.

On refactorization problems and rational Lax matrices of quadrirational Yang-Baxter maps

We present rational Lax representations for one-component parametric quadrirational Yang-Baxter maps in both the abelian and non-abelian settings. We show that from the Lax matrices of a general class of non-abelian involutive Yang-Baxter maps ($\mathcal{K}$-list), by considering the symmetries of the $\mathcal{K}$-list maps, we obtain compatible refactorization problems with rational Lax matrices for other classes of non-abelian involutive Yang-Baxter maps ($Λ$, $\mathcal{H}$ and $\mathcal{F}$ lists). In the abelian setting, this procedure generates rational Lax representations for the abelian Yang-Baxter maps of the $F$ and $H$ lists. Additionally, we provide examples of non-involutive (abelian and non-abelian) multi-parametric Yang-Baxter maps, along with their Lax representations, which lie outside the preceding lists.

Non-Abelian elastic collisions, associated difference systems of equations and discrete analytic functions

We extend the equations of motion that describe non-relativistic elastic collision of two particles in one dimension to an arbitrary associative algebra. Relativistic elastic collision equations turn out to be a particular case of these generic equations. Furthermore, we show that these equations can be reinterpreted as difference systems defined on the ${\mathbb Z}^2$ graph and this reinterpretation relates (unifies) the linear and the non-linear approach of discrete analytic functions.

Tetrahedron maps and symmetries of three dimensional integrable discrete equations

A relationship between the tetrahedron equation for maps and the consistency property of integrable discrete equations on $\mathbb{Z}^3$ is investigated. Our approach is a generalization of a method developed in the context of Yang-Baxter maps, based on the invariants of symmetry groups of the lattice equations. The method is demonstrated by a case-by-case analysis of the octahedron type lattice equations classified recently, leading to some new examples of tetrahedron maps and integrable coupled lattice equations.

Integrable multi-component difference systems of equations

We present two lists of multi-component systems of integrable difference equations defined on the edges of a $\mathbb{Z}^2$ graph. The integrability of these systems is manifested by their Lax formulation which is a consequence of the multi-dimensional compatibility of these systems. Imposing constraints consistent with the systems of difference equations, we recover known integrable quad-equations including the discrete version of the Krichever-Novikov equation. The systems of difference equations allow us for a straightforward reformulation as Yang-Baxter maps. Certain two-component systems of equation defined on the vertices of a $\mathbb{Z}^2$ lattice, their non-potential form and integrable equations defined on 5-point stencils, are also obtained.

Systems of difference equations on a vector valued function that admit 3D space of scalar potentials

For some involutive maps $Φ:{\mathbb C}P^1 \times {\mathbb C}P^1 \to {\mathbb C}P^1 \times {\mathbb C}P^1$ we find all invariants with separated variables. We investigate a link of the maps and their invariants with separated variables to discrete integrable systems. Maps correspond to integrable systems on edges (bond systems), while their invariants with separated variables yields potentials of the bond systems, that allows us to rewrite the integrable sytems as models on vertices. Among the latter ones one can find well known integrable difference equations as well as difference relations, which in contrast to the equations give non-single-valued evolution of the dependent variable. However, the non-single-valuedness can be resolved by the link with the bond system.

Difference systems in bond and face variables and non-potential versions of discrete integrable systems

Integrable discrete scalar equations defined on a~two or a three dimensional lattice can be rewritten as difference systems in bond variables or in face variables respectively. Both the difference systems in bond variables and the difference systems in face variables can be regarded as vector versions of the original equations. As a result, we link some of the discrete equations by difference substitutions and reveal the non-potential versions of some consistent-around-the-cube equations. We obtain higher-point configurations, including pairs of compatible six~points equations on the ${\mathbb Z}^2$ lattice together with associated seven points equations. Also we obtain a variety of compatible ten point equations together with associated ten and twelve point equations on the ${\mathbb Z}^3$ lattice. Finally, we present integrable multiquadratic quad relations.

$2^n-$rational maps

We present a natural extension of the notion of nondegenerate rational maps (quadrirational maps) to arbitrary dimensions. We refer to these maps as $2^n-$rational maps. In this note we construct a rich family of $2^n-$rational maps. These maps by construction are involutions and highly symmetric in the sense that the maps and their companion maps have the same functional form.

Multi-quadratic quad equations: integrable cases from a factorised-discriminant hypothesis

We give integrable quad equations which are multi-quadratic (degree-two) counterparts of the well-known multi-affine (degree-one) equations classified by Adler, Bobenko and Suris (ABS). These multi-quadratic equations define multi-valued evolution from initial data, but our construction is based on the hypothesis that discriminants of the defining polynomial factorise in a particular way that allows to reformulate the equation as a single-valued system. Such reformulation comes at the cost of introducing auxiliary (edge) variables and augmenting the initial data. Like the multi-affine equations listed by ABS, these new models are consistent in multidimensions. We clarify their relationship with the ABS list by obtaining Backlund transformations connecting all but the primary multi-quadratic model back to equations from the multi-affine class.

Families of Integrable Equations

We present a method to obtain families of lattice equations. Specifically we focus on two of such families, which include 3-parameters and their members are connected through Bäcklund transformations. At least one of the members of each family is integrable, hence the whole family inherits some integrability properties.

On non-multiaffine consistent-around-the-cube lattice equations

We show that integrable involutive maps, due to the fact they admit three integrals in separated form, can give rise to equations, which are consistent around the cube and which are not in the multiaffine form assumed in papers [1, 2]. Lattice models, which are discussed here, are related to the lattice potential KdV equation by nonlocal transformations (discrete quadratures).

Darboux transformations for linear operators on two dimensional regular lattices

Darboux transformations for linear operators on regular two dimensional lattices are reviewed. The six point scheme is considered as the master linear problem, whose various specifications, reductions, and their sublattice combinations lead to other linear operators together with the corresponding Darboux transformations. The second part of the review deals with multidimensional aspects of (basic reductions of) the four point scheme, as well as the three point scheme.

Integrable dynamics of Toda-type on the square and triangular lattices

In a recent paper we constructed an integrable generalization of the Toda law on the square lattice. In this paper we construct other examples of integrable dynamics of Toda-type on the square lattice, as well as on the triangular lattice, as nonlinear symmetries of the discrete Laplace equations on the square and triangular lattices. We also construct the $τ$ - function formulations and the Darboux-Bäcklund transformations of these novel dynamics.

Bianchi surfaces. Integrability in arbitrary parametrization

We discuss integrability of normal field equations of arbitrary parametrised Bianchi surfaces. A novel geometric definition of Bianchi surfaces is presented as well as Bäcklund transformation for the normal field equations in arbitrary chosen surface parametrization.

Darboux transformations for a 6-point scheme

We introduce (binary) Darboux transformation for general differential equation of the second order in two independent variables. We present a discrete version of the transformation for a 6-point difference scheme. The scheme is appropriate to solving a hyperbolic type initial-boundary value problem. We discuss several reductions and specifications of the transformations as well as construction of other Darboux covariant schemes by means of existing ones. In particular we introduce a 10-point scheme which can be regarded as the discretization of self-adjoint hyperbolic equation.

The self-adjoint 5-point and 7-point difference operators, the associated Dirichlet problems, Darboux transformations and Lelieuvre formulas

We present some basic properties of two distinguished discretizations of elliptic operators: the self-adjoint 5-point and 7-point schemes on a two dimensional lattice. We first show that they allow to solve Dirichlet boundary value problems; then we present their Darboux transformations. Finally we construct their Lelieuvre formulas and we show that, at the level of the normal vector and in full analogy with their continuous counterparts, the self-adjoint 5-point scheme characterizes a two dimensional quadrilateral lattice (a lattice whose elementary quadrilaterals are planar), while the self-adjoint 7-point scheme characterizes a generic 2D lattice.

A Laplace ladder of discrete Laplace equations

The notion of a Laplace ladder for a discrete analogue of the Laplace equation is presented. The adjoint of the discrete Moutard equation and a discrete counterpart of the nonlinear form of Goursat equation are introduced.
