MCMC-Correction of Score-Based Diffusion Models for Model Composition

Diffusion models can be parameterized in terms of either score or energy function. The energy parameterization is attractive as it enables sampling procedures such as Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) that incorporates a Metropolis--Hastings (MH) correction step based on energy differences between proposed samples. Such corrections can significantly improve sampling quality, particularly in the context of model composition, where pre-trained models are combined to generate samples from novel distributions. Score-based diffusion models, on the other hand, are more widely adopted and come with a rich ecosystem of pre-trained models. However, they do not, in general, define an underlying energy function, making MH-based sampling inapplicable. In this work, we address this limitation by retaining score parameterization and introducing a novel MH-like acceptance rule based on line integration of the score function. This allows the reuse of existing diffusion models while still combining the reverse process with various MCMC techniques, viewed as an instance of annealed MCMC. Through experiments on synthetic and real-world data, we show that our MH-like samplers {yield relative improvements of similar magnitude to those observed} with energy-based models, without requiring explicit energy parameterization.

The AutoSPADA Platform: User-Friendly Edge Computing for Distributed Learning and Data Analytics in Connected Vehicles

Contemporary connected vehicles host numerous applications, such as diagnostics and navigation, and new software is continuously being developed. However, the development process typically requires offline batch processing of large data volumes. In an edge computing approach, data analysts and developers can instead process sensor data directly on computational resources inside vehicles. This enables rapid prototyping to shorten development cycles and reduce the time to create new business values or insights. This paper presents the design, implementation, and operation of the AutoSPADA edge computing platform for distributed data analytics. The platform's design follows scalability, reliability, resource efficiency, privacy, and security principles promoted through mature and industrially proven technologies. In AutoSPADA, computational tasks are general Python scripts, and we provide a library to, for example, read signals from the vehicle and publish results to the cloud. Hence, users only need Python knowledge to use the platform. Moreover, the platform is designed to be extended to support additional programming languages.

Propagation of chaos for a class of first order models with singular mean field interactions

Dynamical systems of N particles in \R^{D} interacting by a singular pair potential of mean field type are considered. The systems are assumed to be of gradient type and the existence of a macroscopic limit in the many particle limit is established for a large class of singular interaction potentials in the stochastic as well as the deterministic settings. The main assumption on the potentials is an appropriate notion of quasi-convexity. When D=1 the convergence result is sharp when applied to strongly singular repulsive interactions and for a general dimension D the result applies to attractive interactions with Lipschitz singular interaction potentials, leading to stochastic particle solutions to the corresponding macroscopic aggregation equations. The proof uses the theory of gradient flows in Wasserstein spaces of Ambrosio-Gigli-Savaree.

An optimal transport approach to Monge-Ampère equations on compact Hessian manifolds

In this paper we consider Monge-Ampère equations on compact Hessian manifolds, or equivalently Monge-Ampère equations on certain unbounded convex domains $Ω\subseteq \mathbb{R}^n$, with a periodicity constraint given by the action of an affine group. In the case where the affine group action is volume-preserving, i.e., when the manifold is special, the solvability of the corresponding Monge-Ampère equation was established using the continuity method by Cheng and Yau. In the general case we set up a variational framework involving certain dual manifolds and a generalization of the classical Legendre transform. We give existence and uniqueness results, elaborate on connections to optimal transport and quasi-periodic tilings of convex domains.
