Predictive one-zero with vanishing sub-trace texture in neutrino mass matrix in light of dark matter and neutrinoless double beta decay

In this work, we investigate a predictive class of neutrino mass matrices characterized by one texture zero and one vanishing sub-trace within the framework of the scotogenic model, wherein neutrino masses, dark matter, and neutrinoless double beta decay are intrinsically correlated. We analyze twelve viable texture structures -- namely $B_{1,4,5}$, $C_{1,2,\ldots,5}$, $D_{4,5}$, and $F_{5,6}$ -- and examine their implications for the effective Majorana mass $(|M_{ee}|)$ governing neutrinoless double beta decay $(0νββ)$. Remarkably, all non-zero entries of the neutrino mass matrix can be parametrized in terms of this effective Majorana mass, establishing a direct theoretical link between low-energy observables and high-scale parameters of the model. Among the twelve textures, eleven predict dark matter masses of order TeV and yield correlated bounds on $|M_{ee}|$ -- making them testable in current and forthcoming $0νββ$ experiments -- while the textures $D_4$ and $F_{5,6}$ exhibit comparatively weaker correlations. In contrast, the texture $C_5$ is excluded due to its requirement of unrealistically large Yukawa couplings and its inability to realize dark matter in the TeV regime. Our analysis thus identifies a subset of predictive neutrino mass textures that consistently relate dark matter phenomenology and neutrinoless double beta decay observables within the scotogenic paradigm.

Neutrino Model in Left-Right Symmetric Linear Seesaw Augmented with $A_4$ Modular Group

In this work, we have implemented $A_4$ modular symmetry in the left-right symmetric linear seesaw model. Interestingly, such modular symmetry restricts the proliferation of flavon fields, and as a result, the predictibility of the model is enhanced. The fermion sector of the model comprises of quarks, leptons and a sterile fermion in each generation, while the scalar sector consists of Higgs doublets and bidoublets. We investigate numerically various Yukawa coupling co-efficients, the neutrino masses and mixing parameters in our intended model and predictions become consistent with $3σ$ range of current neutrino oscillation data. We also studied the non-unitarity, effects on lepton flavor violation in our model and evolution of lepton asymmetry to explain the current baryon asymmetry of the universe.

Study of neutrino mass matrices with vanishing trace and one vanishing minor

In this work we carry out a systematic texture study of the neutrino mass matrix with the ansatzes - (i) one vanishing minor and (ii) the zero sum of the mass eigenvalues with the CP phases (henceforth vanishing trace). There are six possible textures of a neutrino mass matrix with one vanishing minor. The viability of each texture is checked with $3σ$ values of current neutrino data by drawing scatter plots. In our analysis we are motivated to use the ratio of solar to atmospheric mass-squared differences $R_ν$ for its precise measurement (and also the atmospheric mixing angle $θ_{23}$) to constrain phenomenologically first the Dirac CP phase $δ$ in the range of $0^{\degree}-360^{\degree}$ for a given texture with the solutions of the constraint equations. Subsequently we employ this constrained $δ$ to determine the range of completely unknown Majorana CP Phases ($α$ and $β$) for all the viable textures. We also check the neutrinoless double beta decay rate, $|m_{ee}|$ and the Jarlskog invariant, $J_{cp}$ for the textures. Finally the symmetry realization of all the viable textures under the flavor symmetry group $Z_5$ via seesaw mechanism is implemented along with the FN mechanism to determine mass hierarchy structure.

Axially symmetric, asymptotically flat vacuum metric with a naked singularity and closed timelike curves

We present an axially symmetric, asymptotically flat empty space solution of the Einstein field equations containing a naked singularity. The spacetime is regular everywhere except on the symmetry axis where it possess a true curvature singularity. The spacetime is of type D in the Petrov classification scheme and is locally isometric to the metrics of case IV in the Kinnersley classification of type D vacuum metrics. Additionally, the spacetime also shows the evolution of closed timelike curves (CTCs) from an initial hypersurface free from CTCs.

Causality violation in plane wave spacetimes

It is widely held that plane wave spacetimes are causally well behaved which means that they are free from causal pathologies such as closed timelike curves or closed null geodesics. In this paper, we show that one can get closed null geodesics in a plane wave metric by analytically solving the geodesic equations.

KdV solitons in Einstein's vacuum field equations

We present a metric for which Einstein's field equations in vacuum generate the Kortweg-de Vries (KdV) equation and thus its $N$-soliton solutions solve the vacuum equations. The metric of the one soliton solution has been investigated and is a non-singular, Lorentzian metric of type N in the Petrov classification.

Normal versus inverted hierarchical models within $μ-τ$ symmetry

We make a theoretical attempt to compare the predictions from normal and inverted hierarchical models, within the framework of $μ-τ$ symmetry. We consider three major theoretical issues in a self consistent ways, viz., predictions on neutrino mass and mixing parameters, stability under RG analysis in MSSM, and baryogenesis through leptogenesis. We further extend our earlier works on parametrisation of neutrino mass matrices using only two parameters, in addition to an overall mass scale $m_0$, and the ratio of these two parameters fixes the value of solar mixing angle. Such parametrisation though phenomenological gives a firm handle on the analysis of the mass matrices and predicts lower values of solar mixing angle in the range $\tan^2θ_{12}=0.50-0.35$.We check the stability of the model under radiative corrections in MSSM for large $\tanβ\sim 58-60$ region and observe that the evolution of $\bigtriangleup m^2_{21}$ with energy scale, is highly dependent on the input high scale value of solar mixing angle. Solar angle predicted by tri-bimaximal mixings and also values lower than this, do not lead to stability of the model. Similarly, the evolution of the atmospheric mixing angle with energy scale at large $\tanβ$ values, shows sharp decrease for the case with non-zero value of m_3. We apply these mass matrices to estimate the baryon asymmetry of the universe in a self consistent way and find that normal hierarchical model leads to the best result. Considering all these three pieces of theoretical investigations, we may conclude that normal hierarchical model is more favourable in nature.

Numerical consistency check between two approaches to radiative corrections for neutrino masses and mixings

We briefly outline the two popular approaches on radiative corrections to neutrino masses and mixing angles, and then carry out a detailed numerical analysis for a consistency check between them in MSSM. We find that the two approaches are nearly consistent with a small discrepancy of a factor of 13 percent in mass eigenvalues at low energy scale, but the predictions on mixing angles are almost consistent. We check the stability of the three types of neutrino models, i.e., hierarchical, inverted hierarchical and degenerate models, under radiative corrections, using both approaches, and find consistent conclusions. The neutrino mass models which are found to be stable under radiative corrections in MSSM are the normal hierarchical model and the inverted hierarchical model with opposite CP parity. We also carry out numerical analysis on some important conjectures related to radiative corrections in MSSM, viz., radiative magnification of solar and atmospheric mixings in case of nearly degenerate model having same CP parity (MPR conjecture) and radiative generation of solar mass scale in exactly two-fold degenerate model with opposite CP parity and non-zero reactor angle (JM conjecture). We observe certain exceptions to these conjectures. Finally the effect of scale-dependent vacuum expectation value in neutrino mass renormalisation is discussed.

Discriminating neutrino mass models using Type II seesaw formula

In this paper we propose a kind of natural selection which can discriminate the three possible neutrino mass models, namely the degenerate, inverted hierarchical and normal hierarchical models, using the framework of Type II seesaw formula. We arrive at a conclusion that the inverted hierarchical model appears to be most favourable whereas the normal hierarchical model follows next to it. The degenerate model is found to be most unfavourable. We use the hypothesis that those neutrino mass models in which Type I seesaw term dominates over the Type II left-handed Higgs triplet term are favoured to survive in nature.

New Uncertainties in QCD-QED Rescaling Factors using Quadrature Method

In this paper we briefly outline the quadrature method for estimating uncertainties in a function of several variables and apply it to estimate the numerical uncertainties in QCD-QED rescaling factors. We employ here the one-loop order in QED and three-loop order in QCD evolution equations of fermion mass renormalization. Our present calculations are found to be new and also reliable compared to the earlier values employed by various authors.

Inverted Hierarchical Model of Neutrino Masses Revisited

In this letter we highlight the inherent problems associted with the inverted hierarchical model of neutrinos with only three generations and suggest possible solutions within the MSSM. we discuss the new parametrisation of the solar mixing angle which can identify the light side and dark side of the data. We then argue whether the inverted hierarchical neutrino mass matrix can explain the large mixing angle(LMA) MSW solution of the solar neutrino anomaly in the presence of an appropriate texture of charged lepton mass matrix. In model independent way we explore such specific form of the charged lepton mass matrix having special structure in 1-2 block. The contribution to the solar mass splitting arising out of radiative corrections in MSSM, is calculated, thus making the model stable under radiative corrections.

Right-handed Majorana Neutrino Mass Matrices for Generating Bimaximal Mixings in Degenerate and Inverted Models of Neutrinos

An attempt is made to generate the bimaximal mixings of the three species of neutrinos from the textures of the right-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrices. We extend our earlier work in this paper for the generation of the nearly degenerate as well as the inverted hierarchical models of the left-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrices using the non-diagonal textures of the right-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrices and the diagonal form of the Dirac neutrino mass matrices, within the frame work of the seesaw mechanism in a model independent way. Such Majorana neutrino mass models are important to explain the recently reported result on the neutrinoless double beat decay (0/nu/beta/beta) experiment, together with the earlier established data on LMA MSW solar and atmospheric neutrino oscillations.

Degenerate and Inverted Hierarchical Models of Majorana Neutrinos from See-saw Mechanism

In order to explain the recently reported result on the double beta decay $(0νββ)$ experiment, together with the earlier established data on LMA MSW solar and atmospheric neutrino oscillations, we generate the textures of the nearly degenerate as well as the inverted hierarchical models of the left-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrices within the framework of the see-saw mechanism in a model independent way. The leptonic mixings are generated from the texture of the right- handed Majorana mass matrices while keeping the Dirac neutrino mass matrices in diagonal forms.

LMA MSW Solution from the Inverted Hierarchical Model of Neutrinos

We examine whether the inverted hierarchical model of neutrinos is compatible with the explanation of the large mixing angles (LMA)MSW solution of the solar neutrino problem. The left-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrix for the inverted hierarchical model, is generated through the seesaw mechanism using the diagonal form of the Dirac neutrino mass matrix and the non-diagonal texture of the right-handed Majorana mass matrix. In a model independent way, we construct a specific form of the charged lepton mass matrix having a special structure in 1-2 block, which contribution to the leptonic mixing (MNS) matrix leads to the predictions $\sin^{2}2θ_{12}=0.8517$, $\sin^{2}2θ_{23}=0.9494$, and $|V_{e3}|=0.159$ at the unification scale. These predictions are found to be consistent with the LMA MSW solution of the solar neutrino problem. The inverted hierarchical model is also found to be stable against the quantum radiative corrections in the MSSM. A numerical analysis of the renormalisation group equations (RGEs) in the MSSM shows a mild decrease of the mixing angles with the decrease of energy scale and the corresponding values of the neutrino mixings at the top-quark mass scale are found as $\sin^{2}2θ_{12}=0.8472$, $\sin^{2}2θ_{23}=0.9399$, $|V_{e3}|=0.1509$ respectively.

Bimaximal Mixings from the Texture of the Right-handed Majorana Neutrino Mass Matrix

We study the origin of neutrino masses and mixing angles which can accomodate the LMA MSW solutions of the solar neutrino anomaly as well as the solution of the atmospheric neutrino problem, within the framework of the see-saw mechanism. We employ the diagonal form of the Dirac neutrino mass matrices with the physical masses as diagonal elements in the hierarchical order. Such choice has been motivated from the fact that the known CKM angles for the quark sector, are relatively small. We consider both possibilities where the Dirac neutrino mass matrix is either the charged lepton or the up-quark mass matrix within the framework of SO(10) GUT with or without supersymmetry. The non-zero texture of the right-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrix $M_{R}$ is used for the generation of the desired bimaximal mixings in a model independent way. Both hierarchical and inverted hierarchical models of the left-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrices are generated and then discussed with examples.
