On concatenations of two $k$-generalized Lucas numbers

For an integer \( k \geq 2 \), the sequence of \( k \)-generalized Lucas numbers is defined by the recurrence relation \( L_n^{(k)} = L_{n-1}^{(k)} + \cdots + L_{n-k}^{(k)} \) for all \( n \geq 2 \), with initial conditions \( L_0^{(k)} = 2 \), \( L_1^{(k)} = 1 \) for all \( k \geq 2 \), and \( L_{2-k}^{(k)} = \cdots = L_{-1}^{(k)} = 0 \) for \( k \geq 3 \). In this paper, we determine all \( k \)-generalized Lucas numbers that are concatenations of two terms of the same sequence and completely solve this problem for \( k \geq 3 \). Our approach combines nonzero lower bounds for linear forms in logarithms, reduction techniques based on the Baker--Davenport method and the LLL-algorithm, together with continued fraction analysis and computational verification using SageMath.

Tribonacci-Lucas numbers that are palindromic concatenations of two distinct repdigits

The Tribonacci-Lucas sequence $\{S_n\}_{n\ge 0}$ is defined by the linear recurrence relation $S_{n+3} = S_{n+2} + S_{n+1} + S_n$, for $ n\ge 0 $, with the initial conditions $S_0 =S_2= 3$ and $S_1 = 1$. A palindromic number is a number that remains the same when its digits are reversed. This paper uses Baker's theory for nozero lower bounds for linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers, and reduction methods involving the theory of continued fraction to determine all Tribonacci-Lucas numbers that are palindromic concatenations of two distinct repdigits.

On a problem of Pillai involving S-units and Lucas numbers

Let $ \{L_n\}_{n\geq 0} $ be the sequence of Lucas numbers. In this paper, we look at the exponential Diophantine equation $L_n-2^x3^y=c$, for $n,x,y\in \mathbb{Z}_{\ge0}$. We treat the cases $c\in -\mathbb{N}$, $c=0$ and $c\in \mathbb{N}$ independently. In the cases that $c\in \mathbb{N}$ and $c\in -\mathbb{N}$, we find all integers $c$ such that the Diophantine equation has at least three solutions. These cases are treated independently since we employ quite different techniques in proving the two cases.

Palindromic concatenations of two distinct repdigits in Narayana's cows sequence

Let $(N_{n})_{n\ge 0}$ be Narayana's cows sequence given by a recurrence relation $ N_{n+3}=N_{n+2}+N_n $ for all $ n\ge 0 $, with initial conditions $ N_0=0 $, and $ N_1= N_2=1 $. In this paper, we find all members in Narayana's cow sequence that are palindromic concatenations of two distinct repdigits. Our proofs use techniques on Diophantine approximation which include the theory of linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers and Baker's reduction method. We show that $595$ is the only member in Narayana's cow sequence that is a palindromic concatenation of two distinct repdigits in base $10$.

Multiplicative independence in the sequence of $k$-generalized Lucas numbers

Let $(L_n^{(k)})_{n\geq 2-k}$ be the sequence of $k$-generalized Lucas numbers for some fixed integer $k\ge 2$, whose first $k$ terms are $0,\;\ldots\;,\;0,\;2,\;1$ and each term afterward is the sum of the preceding $k$ terms. In this paper, we find all pairs of the $k$-generalized Lucas numbers that are multiplicatively dependent.

Members of Narayana's cow sequence that are concatenations of two repdigits

Let $ (N_n)_{n\ge 0}$ be the Narayana's cow sequence defined by a third-order recurrence relation $ N_0=0,\ N_1= N_2=1 $, and $ N_{n+3}=N_{n+2}+N_n $ for all $ n\ge 0 $. In this paper, we determine all Narayana numbers that are concatenations of two repdigits. The proof of our main theorem uses lower bounds for linear forms in logarithms and a version of the Baker-Davenport reduction method in Diophantine approximation.

On the Shorey-Tijdeman Diophantine equation involving terms of Lucas sequences

Let $r\ge 1$ be an integer and ${\bf U}:=\{U_n\}_{n\ge 0}$ be the Lucas sequence given by $U_0=0,~U_1=1$, and $U_{n+2}=rU_{n+1}+U_n$ for $n\ge 0$. In this paper, we explain how to find all the solutions of the Diophantine equation, $AU_{n}+BU_{m}=CU_{n_1}+DU_{m_1}$, in integers $r\ge 1$, $0\le m<n,~0\le m_1<n_1$, $AU_n\ne CU_{n_1}$, where $A,B,C,D$ are given integers with $A\ne 0,~B\ne 0$, $m,n,m_1,n_1$ are nonnegative integer unknowns and $r$ is also unknown.

Perrin numbers that are concatenations of two distinct repdigits

Let $ (P_n)_{n\ge 0}$ be the sequence of Perrin numbers defined by ternary relation $ P_0=3 $, $ P_1=0 $, $ P_2=2 $, and $ P_{n+3}=P_{n+1}+P_n $ for all $ n\ge 0 $. In this paper, we use Baker's theory for nonzero linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers and the reduction procedure involving the theory of continued fractions, to explicitly determine all Perrin numbers that are concatenations of two distinct repeated digit numbers.

On the problem of Pillai with $k$--generalized Fibonacci numbers and powers of $3$

For an integer $k\ge 2$, let $\{F^{(k)}_{n}\}_{n\ge 2-k}$ be the $ k$--generalized Fibonacci sequence which starts with $0, \ldots, 0,1$ (a total of $k$ terms) and for which each term afterwards is the sum of the $k$ preceding terms. In this paper, we find all integers $ c $ with at least two representations as a difference between a $ k $-generalized Fibonacci number and a power of $ 3 $. This paper continues the previous work of the first author for the Fibonacci numbers, and the Tribonacci numbers.

On the $x$--coordinates of Pell equations which are products of two: Lucas numbers, Pell numbers

Let $ \{L_n\}_{n\ge 0} $ be the sequence of Lucas numbers given by $ L_0=2, ~ L_1=1 $ and $ L_{n+2}=L_{n+1}+L_n $ for all $ n\ge 0 $. In the first paper, for an integer $d\geq 2$ which is square-free, we show that there is at most one value of the positive integer $x$ participating in the Pell equation $x^{2}-dy^{2}=\pm 1$ which is a product of two Lucas numbers, with a few exceptions that we completely characterize. Let $ \{P_m\}_{m\ge 0} $ be the sequence of Pell numbers given by $ P_0=0, ~ P_1=1 $ and $ P_{m+2}=2P_{m+1}+P_m $ for all $ m\ge 0 $. In the second paper, for an integer $d\geq 2$ which is square free, we show that there is at most one value of the positive integer $x$ participating in the Pell equation $x^{2}-dy^{2} =\pm 1$ which is a product of two Pell numbers.

In this paper, we find all integers $ c $ having at least two representations as a difference between: a Fibonacci number and a power of $ 3 $; a Padovan number and a power of $3$; and a Tribonacci number and a power of $3$.
