Probabilistic Temporal Shaping for Level-Constrained Signaling on Bandlimited Additive White Gaussian Noise Channels

Level-constraints model one-bit-quantized signaling over real-alphabet continuous-time channels. New lower bounds on the capacity of bandlimited, additive white Gaussian noise channels with level-constrained inputs are derived by using probabilistic temporal shaping (PTS). The optimal shaping density is derived for signals with one data-dependent sign change per Nyquist-rate sample, which ensures they satisfy an invertibility requirement. Calculations show that PTS improves the best existing lower bound by at least 1.94 dB at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A simpler sequential PTS scheme achieves a gain of 1.64 dB at high SNR.

Stability of the Ghurye-Olkin Characterization of Vector Gaussian Distributions

The stability of the Ghurye-Olkin (GO) characterization of Gaussian vectors is analyzed using a partition of the vectors into equivalence classes defined by their matrix factors. The sum of the vectors in each class is near-Gaussian in the characteristic function (c.f.) domain if the GO independence condition is approximately met in the c.f. domain. All vectors have the property that any vector projection is near-Gaussian in the distribution function (d.f.) domain. The proofs of these c.f. and d.f. stabilities use tools that establish the stabilities of theorems by Kac-Bernstein and Cram\'er, respectively. The results are used to prove stability theorems for differential entropies of Gaussian vectors and blind source separation of non-Gaussian sources.

Channel Estimation in Uplink Multi-User Scenario using OTFS Modulation

Channel estimation techniques for orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation scheme are investigated. The orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm is investigated with and without side channel information, and an efficient data placement is proposed alongside the pilot in the multi-user scenario based on impulse pilot-based estimation. Finally, the performance of the estimation techniques across different multi-user scenarios is evaluated and compared, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each method
