Correspondence between hydrodynamic frames, transport coefficients, and hydrodynamic modes in relativistic fluids

The choice of hydrodynamic frame directly influences the numerical values of transport coefficients in relativistic dissipative hydrodynamics. We derive the exact transformation between the Eckart and Landau--Lifshitz frames and show that their thermal conductivities are related by an enthalpy-dependent factor. Using a baryon-rich relativistic fluid described by a Boltzmann nucleon gas equation of state, we find that the Landau--Lifshitz thermal conductivity is suppressed relative to the Eckart conductivity, with the difference increasing with temperature and baryon chemical potential. A linearized analysis of sound propagation demonstrates that the sound attenuation coefficient remains identical in both frames, confirming the frame invariance of physical observables. Our results show that the frame dependence of transport coefficients reflects only the different decomposition of dissipative effects into heat-flow and diffusion currents, while the underlying transport physics remains unchanged. These findings underscore the importance of specifying the hydrodynamic frame when comparing transport coefficients from heavy-ion collisions, lattice QCD, and kinetic-theory calculations.

Correlation of density fluctuation in a magnetized QCD matter near the critical end point

The dynamical correlation of density fluctuation in quark gluon plasma with a critical end point has been investigated within the scope of the Müller-Israel-Stewart theory in the presence of static ultra-high external magnetic field. The dynamic structure factor of the density fluctuation exhibits three Lorentzian peaks in absence of external magnetic field- a central Rayleigh peak and two Brillouin peaks situated symmetrically on the opposite sides of the Rayleigh peak. The spectral structure displays five peaks in presence of the magnetic field due to the coupling of the magnetic field with the hydrodynamic fields in second-order hydrodynamics. The emergence of the extra peaks is due to the asymmetry in the pressure gradient caused by the external magnetic field in the system. Interestingly, it is observed that near the critical end point, all the Brillouin peaks disappear irrespective of the presence or absence of the external magnetic field.

Nonlinear waves in a hot, viscous and nonextensive quark gluon plasma

The effects of the non-extensive statistics on the nonlinear propagation of perturbations have been studied within the scope of relativistic second order dissipative hydrodynamics with the non-extensive equation of state. We have shown that the equations, describing the propagation of nonlinear waves under such situation are KdV-type (Korteweg-De Vries). Apart from their preserved solitonic behaviour the dissipative nature of these waves are also observed. The waves with larger amplitude and width dissipate less and propagate faster and these waves deplete more for both smaller values of Tsallis parameter ($q$) and temperature ($T$) of the medium. For vanishingly small transport coefficients the nonlinear waves show breaking nature. These findings suggest that the nature of the propagation of the nonlinear waves may serve as a good probe to differentiate between the extensive and non-extensive thermodynamic nature of a fluid, such as the quark-gluon plasma, produced in relativistic nuclear collisions.

The fate of nonlinear perturbations near the QCD critical point

The impact of the QCD critical point on the propagation of nonlinear waves has been studied. The effects have been investigated within the scope of second-order causal dissipative hydrodynamics by incorporating the critical point into the equation of state, and the scaling behaviour of transport coefficients and of thermodynamic response functions. Near the critical point, the nonlinear waves are found to be significantly damped which may result in the disappearance of the Mach cone effects of the away side jet. Such damping may lead to enhancement in the fluctuations of elliptic and higher flow coefficients. Therefore, the disappearance of Mach cone effects and the enhancement of fluctuations in flow harmonics in the event-by-event analysis may be considered as signals of the critical endpoint.

Dynamics of QCD Matter -- current status

In this article, there are 18 sections discussing various current topics in the field of relativistic heavy-ion collisions and related phenomena, which will serve as a snapshot of the current state of the art. Section 1 reviews experimental results of some recent light-flavored particle production data from ALICE collaboration. Other sections are mostly theoretical in nature. Very strong but transient magnetic field created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions could have important observational consequences. This has generated a lot of theoretical activity in the last decade. Sections 2, 7, 9, 10 and 11 deal with the effects of the magnetic field on the properties of the QCD matter. There are several unanswered questions about the QCD phase diagram. Sections 3, 11 and 18 discuss various aspects of the QCD phase diagram and phase transitions. Recent years have witnessed interesting developments in foundational aspects of hydrodynamics and their application to heavy-ion collisions. Sections 12, 15, 16 and 17 of this article probe some aspects of this exciting field. Transport coefficients together with their temperature- and density-dependence, are essential inputs in hydrodynamical calculations. Sections 5, 8 and 14 deal with calculation/estimation of various transport coefficients (shear and bulk viscosity, thermal conductivity, relaxation times, etc.) of quark matter and hadronic matter. Sections 4, 6 and 13 deals with interesting new developments in the field. Section 4 discusses color dipole gluon distribution function at small transverse momentum in the form of a series of Bells polynomials. Section 6 discusses the properties of Higgs boson in the quark gluon plasma using Higgs-quark interaction. Section 13 discusses modification of coalescence model to incorporate viscous corrections and application of this model.

Dynamical spectral structure of density fluctuation near QCD critical point

The expression for the dynamical spectral structure of the density fluctuation near the QCD critical point has been derived using linear response theory within the purview of Israel-Stewart relativistic viscous hydrodynamics. The change in spectral structure of the system as it moves toward critical end point has been studied. The effects of the critical point have been introduced in the system through a realistic equation of state and the scaling behaviour of various transport coefficients and thermodynamic response functions. We have found that the Brillouin and the Rayleigh peaks are distinctly visible when the system is away from critical point but the peaks tend to merge near the critical point. The sensitivity of structure of the spectral function on wave vector ($k$) of the sound wave has been demonstrated. It has been shown that the Brillouin peaks get merged with the Rayleigh peak because of the absorption of sound waves in the vicinity of the critical point.

Dispersion and suppression of sound near QCD critical point

We have used second order relativistic hydrodynamics equipped with equation of state which includes the critical point to study the propagation of perturbation in a relativistic QCD fluid. Dispersion relation for the sound wave has been derived to ascertain the fate of the perturbation in the fluid near the QCD critical end point (CEP). We observe that the threshold value of the wavelength of the sound in the fluid diverges at the CEP, implying that all the modes of the perturbations are dissipated at this point. Some consequences of the suppression of sound near the critical point have been discussed.

Effect of magnetic screening mass on the diffusion of heavy quarks

The drag and diffusion coefficients of heavy quarks propagating through quark gluon plasma (QGP) have been estimated by shielding both the electric and magnetic type infra-red divergences. The electric type screening in perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD) has been widely studied and used in evaluating the diffusion coefficient of heavy quarks (HQs). To our knowledge the impact of magnetic screening in diffusion coefficients of HQs is not studied before. It is found that the effect of magnetic screening mass on the drag and diffusion coefficients of HQs is quite significant and its contribution should not be ignored for explaining the experimental data of heavy quark observables.

Thermal Field Theory of the Tsallis statistics

Classical and quantum Tsallis distributions have been widely used in many branches of natural and social sciences. But, the quantum field theory of the Tsallis distributions is relatively a less explored arena. In this article we derive the expression for the thermal two-point functions for the Tsallis statistics with the help of the corresponding statistical mechanical formulations. We show that the quantum Tsallis distributions used in the literature appear in the thermal part of the propagator much in the same way the Boltzmann-Gibbs distributions appear in the conventional thermal field theory. As an application of our findings, thermal mass of the real scalar bosons subjected to phi^4 interaction has been calculated in the Tsallis statistics.

Effects of causality on the fluidity and viscous horizon of quark-gluon plasma

The second order Israel-Stewart-M$\ddot{u}$ller relativistic hydrodynamics has been applied to study the effects of causality on the acoustic oscillation in relativistic fluid. Causal dispersion relations have been derived with non-vanishing shear viscosity, bulk viscosity and thermal conductivity at non-zero temperature and chemical potential. These relations have been used to investigate the fluidity of Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) at finite temperature ($T$). Results of the first order dissipative hydrodynamics have been obtained as limiting case of the second order theory. The effects of the causality on the fluidity near the transition point and on viscous horizon are found to be significant. We observe that the inclusion of causality reduces the fluidity of QGP. It has also been shown that the inclusion of large magnetic field in the causal hydrodynamics alters the fluidity of QGP

Contribution of Kaon component in viscosity and conductivity of hadronic medium

The two-point correlation functions of kaonic viscous stress tensors and electro-magnetic currents have been calculated respectively to estimate the contributions of the strange sector in the shear viscosity and electrical conductivity of hadronic medium. In the one-loop correlators, kaon propagators contain a non-zero thermal width that leads to non-divergent values of transport coefficients. With the help of effective Lagrangian densities of strange hadrons, we have calculated in-medium self-energy of kaon for different possible mesonic loops, whose imaginary part provide the estimation of kaon thermal width. It is observed that near the quark-hadron transition temperature, the contribution of kaons to shear viscosity is larger and increases faster with temperature than pionic contribution. In case of electrical conductivity the trend due kaon component appears to be opposite in nature with respect to pion component.
